This January will be our first grocery stop before getting to the BCV's. Do they have handles on the brown paper bags or do you just carry tons of white plastic bags up to your room after being dropped off by the towncar? Does that get kind of difficult trying to manage all of the groceries and luggage together?

ps. We'll be checking in in the evening, so our room will be ready right away.

THey are generally the plastic type of bags.

When you get to the BWV, you cna either make a bunch of trips on your own, or use bell services. Their service is free, although a tip is expected, generally $1 per bag, including grocery bags.

Personally it's well worth the $10-20 it costs to get everything to the room in one trip.

Why not let the bellman bring everything to your room...you are on vacation...treat yourself!

Not unless the Publix you stop at is completely different from the ones I visit. I shop at Publix at least twice a week and it's plastic with handles ( wimpy ) or regular paper. Sorry. I do go to one store that has what you want but can't remember if it's Goodings or Jerry's at Sanibel. You're right, though, they're great.

You could always take your own bags (with handles) and pack your own groceries. Sometimes its better to bag your own, especially if the person checking you out it new. Last week the kid that checked me out had dishsoap, apples, chips and shampoo in one bag.

My worst nightmare! LOL Now were the chips on the bottom, Cinders? ::yes:: I think bagging your own or re-bagging as the case may be is a good idea.

Our local Publix has regular brown paper bags minus the handles as well as beige plastic bags and yes, they're sorta wimpy compared to even Wal-Mart or Target.

Could you ask them for a cardboard box in Publix?- just a thought- I know in the supermarkets over here, they sometimes have them out back and will give them to you if you ask. It'll make life easier for you when you get there, even if you do use the bellhop.

My Publix sells large canvas bags with handles, check that out.

I work for Publix and have a few suggestions for what it's worth.Boxes would be a very good idea, preferably (Water) they are very sturdy and some even have cutouts on the side for easy handeling. The problem with that is every store is different with their procedures for (baleing) breaking down and saveing. If you like this idea I would place a call to the store you will be going to and request a day ahead of time that they would save you some.Ask to speak with any one of the store managers to do this.We have people do this all the time.Tell them your name and that you will be making a grocery run before you head to Disney and that you will need the groceries packed in boxes for easy transport. You could also ask them to double bag paper or plastic to be made extra sturdy.I work next to a local airport and we have people we do this for all the time that are flying chartered flights to the Bahamas with groceries.GOOD LUCK!!!!!:wave2:
