Thanks for the update Janette!!! :)

So happy to hear Amy is still improving~!! :) :) :)

I hope she continues to get better, and she's home with this whole ordealbehind her soon!! :) :) :)

I'm home for a quick shower and then back before physical therapy. Amy is doing much better. Just wish the doctor could get them to take blood sometime besides 4:30 in the morning. She can't go to sleep for worrying about the needle that will come in the night. Why they can't come in at 10:00 or 11:00 is beyond me!

The fluid they cultured was showed that she has strep. Yesterday they broke the blister and cultured it as well. Haven't heard the results from that yet. She is walking with a walker twice a day and making good progress putting a little weight on it. It's still incredibly sore. She is also having whirlpool treatments once a day.

The doctors are still saying that they hope she can return home this weekend. She is running a slight temperature today. Hope that doesn't mean we are starting something new. :(

Thanks a million for all the positive thoughts and good wishes. I'm holding up okay. Just tired. I don't seem to get a whole lot of sleep, but Dad will be able to relieve me a little tomorrow since he doesn't have to work.

Now that she is feeling a little better she is bored. The tv is behind her back now that they have her on her left side. So she has to twist to watch tv. She is reading a little and we have started playing Yatzee and cards. Somehow hospitals aren't that thrilling of a place to spend your days. LOL!

I got email from a DIS friend. She wanted to send a card. I'm sure Amy would be thrilled if you'd like to do that. Don't send it to the hospital, since I don't think we'll be there that much longer. If anyone else wants to do that, just post here or send me a PM. I'll either get my DH or someone else to contact you with an address. Hate to put that up here for the world to see when we aren't home at the moment. Hope that will change before the weekend is over.

Bless her heart, and yours too! I hope you do come home this weekend, the hospital is NO place to rest. Continued prayers.

Keep your chin up- A similar thing happened ot em as a kid- as a matter of fact my brohter gave me the chicken pox on my birthday!

I just saw this thread............wishing Amy a very speedy recovery......

Continued prayers for Amy and hope she is feeling better soon!! Hugs to you, MerryPoppins!!

Glad to hear that Amy is doing better. I hope that she will be able to go home soon. Continued prayers for her.

Hi all. I got to come home this afternoon for several hours of sleep in my own bed. :D It was the best!

Amy is still in the hospital. She is doing better every day. They had to move her IV in the night. She has now had it in 3 places during her stay. Hopefully this is the last location. The antibiotics are so strong that they are making each location very sore and red. She says it burns when they give her each dose. I told her we should be thankful that she doesn't have to get each of them in a shot. Don't I sound like Pollyanna? We replaced this last one at 1:00 this morning. So far it is doing well.

She's still doing whirlpool every morning and walking in the afternoon. Her chicken pox are clearing up. She is no longer contagious. She is thrilled that she gets to bring home the stethoscope that they used on her when she leaves the hospital. They told her that if she leaves it behind they will throw it away. I'm wondering if we have a future nurse on our hands? :)

The foot is still swollen and very sore. It is also still draining nasty stuff. It is thick like tree sap and is a day-glow orange color. I teased her that I think it may glow in the dark. We have retained our sense of humor, at least.

I do wonder when she'll be able to wear a shoe and walk without a walker. Improvements are constant but very slow. I'm off to take a shower, gather up my things and head back for the evening. I think I'll stop for a large box of chocolates on the way for all her wonderful nurses. The doctor said this morning that a Sunday release was possible, but not to count on it. She wants to check on the foot, probably bloodwork, and also the weather. We are supposed to get snow and I'm not sure she'll release her in a snowstorm under the circumstances.

I'll plan to come home for a while tomorrow, as well. I'm grabbing a few hours of rest whenever I can, just in case. Thanks for the prayers! Melissa

I forgot to mention something. Amy says she thinks if she would drink very much that the water would leak out all the "holes" where they've stuck her like in the cartoons. :teeth: I think it's absolutely necessary to find humor in every situation. It sure helps lighten the load. My kid is a real trooper. Just had to brag on her!

Poor Amy, she sure is taking it all well though. Maybe the nurses have convinced her to join them though. ;) I hate having IV's or any needles and thankfully have been spared any major illness that required me to be stuck too many times.

I can picture her leaking from all those sticks. Too funny.

I'm so glad to hear that Amy is doing so much better! I'll continue to pray that she's up and dancing soon!

We are finally home. Amy is walking very carefully without the walker. The foot is still swollen and draining, but it is much, much better. She has no IV and is simply taking oral anitbiotics. We will be home for at least the next week. Guess it just depends on how much improvement we see. So far everything has been so sloooowwwww. :)

She is celebrating her freedom. I have one very happy little girl. I fear that the couch will be boring before long, but for now it is thrilling. LOL! The big trick now is to keep the dogs from bumping that sore foot. They have missed Amy and are too enthusiastic.

Thanks so much for all the prayers. I think we are finally on the road to being well.

Yippee:Pinkbounc ! Can you get her schoolwork to keep her occupied this week? Welcome home! :D

I am so glad to hear it!!! What a miserable time she has had.

Welcome home Amy.. you have been through a lot...........I know that this will be behind you very soon and everything will be as it was.. Wow.. that was some chicken pox... Hugs..

What a joy to read that Amy is well enough to be home again. I hope she is 100% better very soon.
