I don't have time to read all of your good wishes. I'm just home long enough to shower again and put my dogs out.
Things are better today. All the doctors are pleased with the progress. We got the results back from the bone scans. They don't think the bone is involved, which is a very good thing. The bad leg did look different from the good one in the scans, but they think it is due to the extra blood around the area, fighting the infection. We may have to do another bone scan in a week or two, just to be safe. Her white count continues to improve, and her leg is less discolored today.
There is still so much swelling. It looks so much worse than the pictures I posted before, but it is improving now. The leg is looking pretty normal again. They cultured the drainage and the anitbiotic that she is on is appropriate for the germ, so that is good news too.
She still is in a lot of pain when she lets the leg hang down. I think it may be a while before she is up and around too much, but maybe it'll turn around really fast. Who knows? Still no idea of a release date.
Thanks again for the good wishes. I told Amy last night that anyone that thinks you guys aren't REAL friends is nuts. Who but a real friend would call the hospital because they were so worried? We know that you are thinking about us, and it pleased Amy and I more than I can say.
She is feeling good enough to enjoy her cards, stuffed animals and flowers. She'll probably be spoiled rotten, but I don't care at this point, you know? I'll try to print this thread and take it up to her. She'd love that.
Hope to give you more good news tomorrow, Melissa
