So you basically just described my kiddo![]()

So you basically just described my kiddo![]()
I think my ultimate goal will be the 30th WDW Marathon (after I was all "wahhhh no more marathons!") - so that's, like, 2023 or whatever. So maybe take 1-1.5 years to get up to 10K...then 1-1.5 years up to 10 miles...then 1-1.5 years up to half marathons. Or whatever. Hopefully that will cure the creaky back!
Thank you!I've been off the boards for a couple of weeks, so need to sayHappy Birthday!!
Really late, sorry...
Gah, I know. It's so frustrating! It takes so long to build it up but boy does it go away quickly...It's amazing to me how quickly you can "lose" stamina, strength, speed. I've been doing mostly indoor track runs this winter (even though it's been fairly mild, it was nice to not have to bundle up for the outdoor runs!), then ran outside today on a very hilly loop. It definitely kicked my buttLike almost a minute slower pace than I was doing the same loop last fall, and still huffing & puffing. Now I'm a good bit older than you, but still... it's disappointing.
Thanks!Congrats on completing the long run on Sunday - that's where your mental strength really kicks in![]()
Thank you! OMG so jealous. How was it??A very belated happy birthday! Just getting caught up after being on the Dream last week![]()
Yeah, me too.Sorry that you are struggling a bit with the training. Way to stick with it and get it done, even when you don't want to! Not quitting is huge! You will get through Tink no problem, and then hopefully take a nice long break and let your body recover.
I'm having a great week so far, thank you!Hope this week is going well so far! I am off to run the Dark Side Challenge next weekend so kind of in a taper mode(I did run on the Dream and did the 5K but nothing more than 6 miles).
Thank you!!I think I'm finally caught up and I'm sorry I missed your birthday, but I hope that it was grand. Happy belated birthday!![]()
I too am not a fan of 3D. The couple of 3D movies I have seen, I'm just like "...okay I guess it looked like that stuff was popping out at me or whatever, but did it really add much?" Meh. Given the choice, I go with 2D every time!Just wanted to chime in about BATB (no spoilers here) that the blurry/dark thing was probably because they filmed it for 3-D. I'm not a fan of 3-D at all, simply because our brains tend to process 2-D film to 3-D as we're watching anyway, and when films are presented in 3-D it gets darker and blurrier (the sweeping around a room or a feature that comes at you seems blurrier because you're essentially watching a 3-D "trick" without the glasses). I'm a bit of a film nerd, so sorry if this was a long tangent. TL;DR I hate 3-D.
Same here! I was very pleasantly surprised at how much I liked it. I finally saw the live-action Cinderella and I thought BATB was WAY better (which could be because I like BATB way better to being with...)But I also had low expectations about the live action and was pleasantly surprised for many of the reasons you all cited. More backstory and character development for one.
Yes ma'am! I also found the runDisney playlists...not as awesome as the Trader Sam's one, but some of them are fun.Trader Sam's playlist, you say? I am going to have to get on that!![]()
Chiming in also to say that the lip gloss is very flattering for your skin tone and hair - gorge! (and I hope that doesn't sound weird!)
Hahaha...well I have never had a female dog so I guess I don't know how bad the burps are? But this little dog produces MASSIVE stink. And finally: dog farts. We've had a number of dogs over the years and one observation DH and I have both made is that male dogs fart and female dogs burp (predominantly, always exceptions to the rule). I don't know which one is worse...
I'm glad to be able to report it! I feel like this thread was probably a huge drag to read for awhile there...I'm so glad to see how much your training/running/yogaing has improved in the last year!!![]()
Yeah, I'm sort of excited for it. I like having the big main goal, but stretching out the timeline will take a lot of pressure off, I think. Some of my motivation was signing up for 2017 Goofy (then Dopey) was to prove to myself that I was "better" at the 1-year timeline Dr. Spine originally gave me to heal. Which is a bit of a messed up line of thinking and looking back was maybe not the best idea...who knows. But this plan seems smarter. I am older and wiser!I like this idea!! You have a goal in mind, and you're planning to take your time getting there. I think this will definitely help with the back!
See, this is how you starts...you mention it offhand (because it was in the back of your mind anyway) and it just snowballs from there...(Hey, maybe I'll even join you for the 30th ... okay, probably not)
Hey, any exercise at all on vacation is a win, I think! Did you do the CC5K? If so, what did you think?
Yeah, I mean - maybe as well stick to the anniversary years, right? Sounds like a plan.I'll join you for the 30th, too. I think every five years for a Disney marathon is a good idea (did 20th, doing 25th next year).
My kids will be...6.5 and 8.5. Seems like a good time for like a two week Disney/Disney cruise vacation. Now to convince my DH!
I think slowing down will get a great idea for your back and to get yourself healthy!
Um, yeah. It's rough!! Thankfully it's only a 5K!The CC 5K is quite uh, tropical shall we say....BUT it's only 3 miles and you get a free souveneir! I did it with my husband, which was fun as we rarely get to run together.
I know this is a weird thing to weigh in on, but I have a female dog, and she definitely toots more than she burps. I also don't understand how she can lock her legs, and I can't move her, even though she only weighs about 33 pounds.
I think this is where I am too, at least for now - 3-4 miles feels great, and once I get beyond that point my body is NOT happy. Also, I have recently realized that I prefer the 10K distance over anything else -- I have chronic stress fractures in my right foot, and I can handle a few runs of 3-4 miles a week, but once I get beyond that into half training, it doesn't go well for me. It's a hard realization, but sometimes our bodies just don't do what we want them to.
Oh man!! Now I need to start watching the Disney channel to try to catch that commercial! While my kids were watching the disney channel yesterday, they showed a promo for runDisney. I had never actually seen a commercial for RunDisney so I started paying attention to see if it came on again. Turns out, it was for the princess 5k where you were there and had that girl from one of their tv shows. Didn't you mention that they had a "pretend start" with her or something becasue it definitely made it seem that way if you have ever been here for a race. Overall I actually thought it was a cool advertisement for RunDisney. My oldest even commented that he wanted to do a race at Disney now after seeing the commercial. Thanks for sharing that in your trip report and I hope the rest of your Tink training goes well!
This is me too!! I ran 20 miles on Sunday and I spent all night tossing and turning, when I should have been completley dead. It is so counter-intuitive and frustrating, because obviously our bodies need the rest.I always think I will have awesome sleep the night after a long run and that is almost never the case.
YES!! So glad to hear this (despite it flaring up again in yoga).my back felt SO GOOD today
Also glad to hear this. I really believe our bodies know when we have had enough, you have an awesome base, a few missed long runs here and then is not going to kill your ability to run Tink, it may even make it more pleasant, since you got the mental breakbut I have no regrets about skipping that run
Yeah, I mean - I think I (and you as well) don't just skip planned runs or whatever willy-nilly so I sort of feel like - if there's a day when I say, "nope, not today," it's time for a little break.I absolutely think sometimes it's good to take a break when you just mentally don't feel up to it. Sometimes we are too hard on ourselves about that. This morning was supposed to be a lifting day for us and last night as we were discussing it, I just said no. I needed a break from it, and I don't regret it.Monster pup!!!

He loves his walks! That Pup and I have a lot in common...we both want to go for a walk right now.
I just really, really love my sleep.Sleeping poorly really does throw so much off schedule for me, so I feel you on that. Hope that back decides to be nice to you this week.
Yeah, why is it so hard to pull the trigger on tickets??? Do you know where you're getting yours? I think I'm going to go through these guys: http://arestravel.com/attraction/single/722/18/7943And I'm on the same page as you with Tink stuff...everything but those pesky park tickets. I keep putting it off. I was originally going to do only 2 day PH but then I just knew being at Disney on Friday and not going to a park was insane....so 3-day PH for me![]()
Booo what is that?? That is totally what happened to me, tossing and turning all night. This is me too!! I ran 20 miles on Sunday and I spent all night tossing and turning, when I should have been completley dead. It is so counter-intuitive and frustrating, because obviously our bodies need the rest.
YES!! So glad to hear this (despite it flaring up again in yoga).
I agree - I'm glad I skipped it. I think it really was helpful both mentally and physically! Also glad to hear this. I really believe our bodies know when we have had enough, you have an awesome base, a few missed long runs here and then is not going to kill your ability to run Tink, it may even make it more pleasant, since you got the mental break![]()
