A MAGICAL Columbus Day Cruise Texas style 10/6/2012

Hi everyone,

We have a 4 yo DD (turned 4 in April). Just curious to know if there were any others with a DD in that age group. She is an only and sometimes prefers to be with us than with others her age, especially in new places. I would love to be able to tell her about another friend her age.

Thanks in advance...

My 8 yr old daughter, Anna, would love to play with her if you don't find anyone her age. She is always having play dates with younger kids - she likes to Mother. She is counting down the years till she can baby sit.

Lorena, welcome! :welcome: We live in Kansas about an hour north of Oklahoma. I have only taken one other cruise before this one and the rest of my family are all first time cruisers. This thread is very helpful. I have also gone back and read through the other two threads for the Galveston sailings before this one and they have provided great ideas on shore excursions and more.

The best tip I have read so far is to bring a refillable mug, like the ones you buy at Disney World. The free soda station's cups are only 6 oz. This way you can fill it up and not have to go back as often for refills! pixiedust:

I am hoping that we are passing out our FE gifts randomly. I think if the kids have no idea when they are coming it will be more exciting. Or at least it will be for me.:flower3:
Do have a schedule or can we do it as our family finds time here and there?
I think it would be an interesting way to see the ship!

Can't wait!

I was thinking I saw other posts from other cruises that said each person is assigned a day to pass theirs out so that you end up getting things from 2 or 3 people every day you are there. I was wondering About that too; I've never done this before. :)

My niece aubrey is 4, ds brayden is 4 and dd mady is almost 3....hoping I can get her in the oceaneer club too since she's close to 3 and has been potty trained almost a year. So yes we will have kids your daughters age :)

I had planned on varying mine as to when time allowed. I thought of doing one level one day and another the next. I do not think that days are assigned.

I'm sure I will be handing out ours with the boys one of the days at sea. However, I won't know which until I see a navigator.

Just wanted to tell everyone about my awesome FE hanger my Aunt made for me. I told her all about FE and how we needed a hanger for our door (since she is so super crafty I figured she could be a big help) and of course she said she had an idea and for me to not worry about it. Well last night she send a text that the FE hanger is done and sent me a picture of if. She made my FE hanger out of my Great Grandmothers apron she use to wear all the time!!!! My Great Grandmother passed away last year at 100 years old...the enitre family is still missing her very much and I wish she was here so she could share in the excitment of our trip. She was active until the day she died and I am so blessed to have something that was part of her with us on this Vacation. What a way to spread good vibes on our Vacation before we even leave!!! pixiedust:

What a sweet Aunt! I'm looking now to see if you are on our FE list...
and you are!
Can't wait to see the FE hanger made from your Grandmother's apron.

I see that your daughter is allergic to sugar. Are there any treats by name that we can get her? I have a daughter that is allergic to dairy, and it's in everything (like sugar I soppose!) I've made some secret FE stuff for her incase she gets lots of candy that she can't eat.:)

Mary,

How many days do you plan to pass out FE"s? I am such a goofball and made FE's for 5 days! Can you imagine if everyone did this? You would be bombarded with gifts falling out of the Fe pockets and surrounding our cabins! :rotfl2:

I guess I'll just do 3 days. what do you think?:confused3

At school they give her sugar free cookies. Her problem is she is unable to digest sugar (much like an allergy) So when she has large amount of sugar it ends up being a big mess (to put it lightly) and yes sugar is in everything...even some foods that will turn into sugar during digestion can upset her tummy. At her dance school they give her little suckers (Dum Dum Brand) and I guess because they are so small and she takes forever to eat them they dont seem to really bother her much at all (they gave her one before I could tell them about her problem...i just didnt thin dance class would need to know that but it ended up being ok for the most part so lol) I tam thinking about calling DCL and asking if they can make her food in Whole wheat only and if they have sugar free options for desert. We really treat her much like a diabetic and she seems to be doing fine.I would guess a dairy allergy is just as bad as it is in most stuff too!!! Glad to know I am not alone in this lol.

We ordered a dairy free cake. They also have sugar free cake! I always have her cake at the parks delivered to the castle, or wherever we go on the first day. then, we put the rest in the room fridge and she is allowed to have it whenever she wants. If you can't find the info, PM me!

Dum dums are wonderful and free of the top 8 allergens!

Sounds just like my daughter. Leah turned 4 in August. I've been telling her that she will meet new friends and she wants to know what there names are.

Wow, I think that would be difficult - this is out 8th time doing FE exchange and it has always been random.

I think that everyone should be able to pass them out when they would like to. As for myself I will be passing mine out on the first day as some of them are things to be used right away.

Also I will have a note pad and pen on my door so if anyone changes cabins they can leave me a note and I will let others know. Sound like a plan?

Were getting close I'm very excited.

I have FE gifts for one day.. one per cabin actually. I hope everyone likes them.. I had fun doing them.. and it is something I hope kids and adults will enjoy or just make them smile. We will pass them out a deck at a time.. here and there early in the week. I wished I had made extras for new friends etc.:flower3::flower3:
I think this will be a fun adventure. Hoping the food is good- some of the recent posts have been such downers on food and service. :rolleyes1
