A long vent about Song and short National vent

Southwest does not fly out of Boston, but they do fly out of Providence. Just got a DING from Providence to Orlando, on Christmas eve no less for $50.00.

Fron the south shore, PVD is just as easy, if not easier, to get to as BOS. I fly frequently between MA and FL and the majority of my travel is on Southwest. I have had almost no problems with them and love flying out of Green.

Sorry to hear of your problems Deesknee. Glad the vacation part went well :)

Did you also have a chuckle that the kids play area in the terminal A satellite area that you had asked about back in April still isn't done? I did notice they had removed the carpet last month, but then saw no further work.

Like you, I've noticed some very unhappy Song gate agents and FA's the last month. I'm sure the work rule changes and job uncertainty is causing some of this.

We travel with a party of 7 or 8 every summer and 1-2 of the party are friends of our daughters. It never fails that they get moved away from us in seat swaps near the departure date as the last name is different (even though they are on the same flight identifier record most times). When I call to get the seats put back, they always apologize that they did it to move a solo passenger or two about to accomodate a family group. I can truly sympathise as a good portion of the Song (and JetBlue) flights to MCO are families with young children.

Another heads up to you or others flying SOng after May 2006 - If you are in rows 1-8 you may get seats bumped if your flight is reconfigured for the new first class section in the front cabin. You may want to pick seats in row 9 and higher now while the planes are fairly empty (you can do this online quickly and look up the seatmaps and submit changes).

That actually shouldn't turn out to be a problem for most passengers, as Song has pretty much always held almost all those seats (except one middle seat on each side, go figure) for preferred passengers/frequent flyers from the moment the flight becomes bookable until the day before or the day of the flight.

lol. There was certainly no playing. I had forgotten how confusing it can be traveling with a toddler. Although, had the play area been ready it certainly would've helped entertain her.

One of the times they rearranged our seat assignments we ended up in row 2 &3. (BTW, we are believe it or not with the age differences, all the same last name lol). I didn't realize those were what is going to be considered first class. I feel somewhat special now. ;)

I just wanted to update this about National. DH emailed them a letter explaining how we've always done business with them with no complaints. He then explained our complaint this time. The next day we got an email saying they were crediting our credit card for $50. We are so pleased.

Just wanted to say to the OP that I can totally relate to your Song experience. We flew out of Boston on Nov 28-everything went as scheduled, nice flight attendants etc. Coming back on Dec 2 was a whole different story. There was no Song plane, according to flight attendant "it was sick" (Um, hmmm do I look like a 2 yr old?) Our flight number changed, our seats changed-more importantly our attitudes changed regarding Delta Song. We had a boeing 767 which the flight attendants self admittingly had no clue about. (They had a problem even loading the people) Being a tall man, my dh practically had to fold himself into the seat and then the man in front reclined his seat which made for one funny site! Then, the rudest flight attendant I have ever encountered was asking the 2 women behind us if they wanted food. He asked them to which one of the women said yes. He didn't hear her and asked again. Finally, he said in a very loud snippy tone "look I have asked you 3 times if you wanted food -there are alot of people on this plane and you are making them wait!" To which the woman calmly replied "I answered you the first time-and now, no I don't want anything. Needless to say, the supervisor had to come over and apologize for his poor behavior. The woman took his name and information to write about his poor attitude. The thing that bothered me the most though was, because the call attendant button is on the arm rest, people inadvertently kept setting it off-the flight attendants decided after a while to just ignore them all. Well, for some unknown reason, we were flying very low -so low that I could see land for a long time (it was a very rocky flight) Anyway, one of the baggage compartments about 10 rows up and over to the left of the plane ( I was on the right-and before I get flamed, I HATE flying and never get out of my seat-especially since we had so much turbulence)opened by itself. The man in front of me and I put on our call attendant lights for fear that a piece of luggage would pop out and hurt someone. Well after 20 minutes of trying to get the FA's attention, I finally just went back and told them my concerns about the luggage hurting someone. They just said that they would have eventually noticed it and that everyones lights were coming on so they just were ignoring them. I could not believe that they actually said that! Needless to say, their callous attitude made me a little concerened. I told them that I wouldn't have been too happy if I had had a medical emergency and they just sat there and ignored me. They just brushed me off. Now, I am sure that these people all work hard for there money and there have been many problems with job security, bankruptsy etc, but it is their job to attend to the passengers in a timely curtious way. I would like to think this was just an isolated incident mainly due to the fact that they were under pressure to work in a much bigger plane and in a different environment that they weren't used to. Oh well, at least we are home safely!

Coach seating on many aircraft is definitely a challenge for the vertically endowed. I tend to think this situation goes in cycles. As passengers feel the need for lower fares, they push airlines towards installing more rows of seats in each airplane. As passengers feel the need for more comfort, they push airlines to take out a few rows. Back and forth. Back and forth.
