A "How-To" Walk Through of Drinking Around the World at Epcot World Showcase

I want to go back on record as STRONGLY discouraging this kind of behavior.

Especially starting in Mexico. Between the margaritas, the tasting flights and the cervezas especiales, it's highly probable you're going to get stuck there and never finish your tour.

Haha my husband and I did this on our honeymoon! We got to England and had what we thought at the time to be "the best fish and chips ever!!" looking back we realize the our many stops probably had a lot to do with our opinion lol can't wait to do it again this September!

Please give the beer in France some love, folks.....

Biere Kronenbourg 1664

I always sip one waiting for Illuminations....

As soon as my husband & I heard about the "Drinking Around the World" thing, we knew (me being a bartender and him a former hard-partying fratboy) that we had to take on this challenge on our honeymoon. We strategically planned it on the last day of the trip because a) it was something to get hyped up about towards the end, b) it was a low-volume day at Epcot, and c) who wants to waste a Disney day with a hangover? Though I have to say we avoided the latter, thanks to snacking & hydration :cool1:

So we took on the challenge with your guide (literally) in hand, and thanks to you, we knew what was a must-taste, and what to avoid. We're mostly beer & wine drinkers, but we knew what to splurge on... i.e. the yummy Grey Goose slushies in France (for me) and the Scotch flight at the Rose & Crown Pub in the UK (for him), while you led us to the better beer in the Showcase.

But the most important takeaway for a Drinking Around the World excursion is this... follow these 3 principles: Pacing, Snacking, and Hydration.

As long as you don't try to leap from Mexico to Italy in 30 minutes.. and from there to Morocco in 10, eat the tasty snacks each country has to offer, and throw a bottle of water in every country or two, you'll have an amazing Epcot experience (and apparently bragging rights that you did it, with class... and if you're like us, servers at the Canadian beer cart will be astonished that you just drank around the world and sincerely ask with confusion, "But... you're sober?" ). Yep, that's right. :thumbsup2

I managed to do the drinking around the World on my recent trip... but since we had lunch in Mexico... we somehow started in Mexico with a couple Margaritas.

then we went back to Futureworld to use a fastpass and ride Spaceship earth before starting our actual drinking loop in Canada. We had to rush in the last couple countries due to park closing quickly approaching, but we were able to finish out in norway and with another couple tasty margarita's in Mexico. It helped to have another couple drinkers with me, so they were able to grab the norway drinks, and I was able to run to Mexico for the margaritas. We met back in norway and enjoyed our drinks during Illuminations.

We did however skip grabbing a drink at the American pavilion. With our quickly dwindling time to complete it, and the options that were somewhat dull, we decided that having some Southern Comfort back at our resort that evening would meet our american requirements.

How many people can say they both started AND finished in Mexico? ....and Survived?!

OK so this is sooooo wrong....BUT how do you keep tween kids entertained during the walk around? (Can they slowly eat around?)

How tween are we talking? My parents would have been like, "You guys head off on your own. You meet us back here at blank, blank and blank times, and if you don't you will regret it. Do not leave the park. Do not do anything stupid. Do not spend all your money on useless junk. Oh, and have a fun time."

That... and Kim Possible missions could be a great distraction for them in several of the countries.

Nothing worse than the margarita road block. NONE SHALL PASS.

What I thought of as a weakness may clearly be a strength. I can't have tequila anymore. It makes my lips, tongue, and throat swell up. I really miss margaritas. :sad1: But at least I can make it past Mexico. :thumbsup2

this.

i'm going to attempt drinking around the world during the food and wine festival this year for my bachelorette party, and this is definitely going to my bridesmaids as required reading!!!

Love this post, but actually drinking around the world during Food & Wine is impossible. Not because of the amount of drinking (which is substantial), but the lines are just too damn long.

I usually come into Epcot via Boardwalk, so we usually start in France, make the circle and finish up strong at the Rose & Crown with a celebratory Pimm's Cup or a round of Shandy. Things tend to slow down starting in Norway (where you have to stop to enjoy the unbelievable number of pretty ladies), and then come to a crawl in Mexico.

I could never do a true "drinking around the World" as 10 drinks is way beyond my range of "can do and still stand up at the end". However, I love all the ideas of the different drinks for the different countries.

I did it on our trip 2 weeks ago! I'm not a big beer fan, so my toughest points were actually at the U.S. and Canada, but here's the list, with my preferences ordered 1-11, with 1 being best:

Mexico (11): Mezcal (was not a big fan, but I didn't want a whole margarita)
Norway (3): Aquavit shot
China (4): Plum wine
Germany (5): Rumplemintz
Italy (2): Rosa Regale
U.S.A. (10): Sam Adams
Japan (6): Sake (medium dry--don't remember the particular brand)
Morocco (8): Casablanca Coffee (the one with vanilla liqueur)
France (1): Grand Marnier Slush
England (7): Strongbow
Canada (9): Moosehead

The Canada pavillion really needs an Icewine tasting booth! And the U.S. needs some bourbon/whiskey options, or some California wines.

So do you guys collect some sort of momento of all your beers? I heard a few mention a passport, do they have one for beers around the world? That'd be cool. :thumbsup2

My husband wants to do it on our upcoming trip and told me to research it so OP thank you so much for posting this thread. :worship:

One of the DISigners has a great "drinking around the world" passbook, and another has a "desserts around the world" passbook.

Love this thread! I'm sure someone in our party will have to try this. We preferred to be called "connoisseurs of adult beverages" instead of alcoholics.

That is a good one! I like that it offers drink suggestions at each country. Thanks for the link.
