A good start for Texas

You obviously haven't seen pictures or video from the beaches reopening today. You can see a picture taken less than 30 minutes after opening, there are HUNDREDS of people on the beach and in the water.
😬😬😬 Yikes

Same here. I think it's nuts to jump the gun.

I don't really think re-opening medical procedures is jumping the gun. It's nuts that they were closed to begin with. People HAVE to be able to go to the doctor. I wonder how many people with medical conditions quietly got worse during the closure because their appts were deemed not important.

I am one of those people. I’ve been in pain for 5 weeks. Can only do phone appointments. My problem needs to be examined to be treated. I don’t know how much longer I have to wait.

I hope you can be seen soon. I always thought it was crazy that things like liquor stores are essential but most doctors aren't.

Yes. If nothing else in Illinois, please allow doctor visits and elective procedures!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Thats nuts. My doctor would absolutely be allowed to see me if i were in pain. We met via telehealth because i didnt see the need to go in, but they didnt even halt bloodwork, i had to go to the lab for that.

I think Oregon has had a balanced approach between requiring safe measures & allowing business to open if they demonstrate safe practices, with a tip line shutting down individual businesses who dont comply, not entire industries, unless that industry simply can not be safe right now

And just some fyi stuff from a hospital system here

Total COVID + PUI in Hospitals not in ICU3,258
COVID + PUI patients in ICU1,196

I agree. I do not think ANYTHING the governor proposed is jumping the gun, and I am very cautious. They will continue to look at numbers before the do anything else, which if I remember correctly is the end of the month. So they can see if deaths and hospitalizations go up. I would expect positive numbers to go up with increased testing. The numbers to look at are hospitalized ( with number of beds available) deaths and ppe.

My shoulder injury has certainly gotten worse. I couldn't have my follow up appt. with my surgeon, and all my PT was called off.
I'm trying to continue the few exercises I had been given before I was cut off...

Staff needs PPE for critical patients.

I work for a hospital system, I know this. I also know the hospitals are discussing getting ready to start up outpatient again in some capacity once the Governor lifts the restrictions/recommendations of cancelling all elective procedures. :)

My opinion is that it’s to early to open up public places. People now aren’t following the rules so they won’t follow the new rules that are placed. I see more social gatherings will happen which we will see numbers go up. People will travel for fun and bring or take the virus. Don’t even get me started once kids go back to school. So many parents send their sick kids to school🤦🏽‍♀️ I think we will see a 2nd surge in November.

I’m in Southern California and numbers keep going up in the county I’m in.

People are suffering not having elective procedures. The hospital I work for in NJ is planning on starting them on 5/11. We go by the recommendation from the American College of Surgeons.

we will also start seeing patients in the office May 11. Right now we do video conference calls and people who absolutely need a physical exam does come in for a real visit.

people are suffering in other ways. It’s not right and will cause more problems down the road.

my hospital system is backlogged 1200 OR cases. There’s talk of the surgeons doing elective OR cases on weekends when this lets up.

We have two weeks worth of PPE in stock and are receiving shipments daily.

The purpose of this little experiment was to not overwhelm the hospitals. Mission accomplished. Maybe now ED nurses will have to stop making Tik Tok videos in empty ED.'s. across the country. I say this as an RN. I want my hours back. I want to make money and I want to go on vacation.

Georgia never closed it's state parks, at least to camping. The public facilities have been closed but the camp grounds and trails are open.

A thing we're doing in our area seems to be printing various things with 3D printers. One of the local library branch a few of the employees have come back to use the 3D printer there to make face shields. My state is now going to be using 3D printers for swabs to be used in testing as we lack enough swabs. I know there are other companies that are using 3D printers and the like to make various PPE and testing items in the absence of an abundance of that.
