A good start for Texas

The governor of Texas just held a press conference about re-opening the state. Medical procedures are going to be the first to re-start, along with re-opening state parks (with conditions - social distancing and masks). Schools are closed for the rest of the year. Further updates will be made on the 27th depending on what is seen in terms of cases. A slow start, but a good and necessary one.

I think this is our plan, too. The governors had a meeting yesterday with the task force, so I’m guessing this is what they all came up with.

I wish Wisconsin had a clue like Texas!
WI is not strained at all, by looking at the DHS website. Plenty of beds, plenty of ventilators....
Yet we are stuck at home until May 26th!!!

It's beyond cruel and ridiculous for those who need to make a living!!

That picture sure didn't look like social distancing. Texas will make you wear masks, no groups larger than 5 and social distancing. That is much safer than opening a beach.

Yeah, why bother listening to the medical community or scientists? “Common sense”? Just what the heck is that? My governor is actually listening and paying attention to the medical community & the scientists and basing decisions upon their recommendations. That’s what I expect from my leadership. ”Common sense” says that you take it slow and respond as appropriately necessary. Unless you feel that some folks are expendable (yeah, they’re gonna die anyway right?) then by all means, just get right out there and ignore what’s being asked of you. Sure you have the right to do that. And I have the right to not be infected by you or others who feel that they know better.

Yup. Only some beaches with limited hours and I believe limited group sizes.

Probably inevitable, but imo not this early. They were scheduled for October. Who knows what will happen in the fall. She’s also getting a lot of heat from Jeff parish for not even consulting them. As you know, Nola is more of a metro area & I think she should make decisions in collaboration with surrounding parishes. And, she extended the study at home order without even consulting with JBE. Someone asked him that at the press conference Wed & he said she never talked to him.

Good thing you don't live here in Canada cause that's how the government here is doing it. No talk yet of lifting any restrictions here.
