$99 HP Touchpad

A big publicity gimmick? They bought Palm for 1.2 billion last year. The shutting down of WebOS will cost them 68 cents a share. HP's current stock price is getting slammed.

This is a multi-billion dollar failure and you think it is a publicity stunt?

HP could have done what so many other failed products have done, bury them in the desert a-la the E.T Atari game so many years ago, or sold them for scrap, or pushed them off on a foreign school system never to be heard from again. Instead they sold the thing at an insane price. You are mad because you didn't get your insanely cheap tablet? You are mad at HP for this? But if you had gotten 10 from Walmart to sell on eBay, or got through faster on their website... then you'd be OK with the situation?

How dare you tell me why I am mad or what I'd be okay with.
You don't know me have any idea what my values are. If being confrontational is what makes you happy you have my deepest sympathy.
I would not have been upset if I was told there were out of stock then I would have had the opportunity to search elsewhere or have known there was a limited supply but to be informed my order was processed and promised delivery is deceitful.
Would I have bought 10 of them to sell on ebay......NEVER.
I was even apprehensive about buying one of them...... price so low .... new product I kept thinking there must be something wrong with them,
That's why i used my AMEX..... if it failed amex had me covered and I had a fancy drink tray.
I congratulate those of you that were able to purchase this at this low price.
What I am disgusted about is if you just google HP Touchpad cancelled orders
You will see this changing of dates and lost orders is not an isolated incident.
As for buying on ebay.... BUyer beware...
Is it worth more than $99/$149.... HP doesn't think so....Consumer reviews all agree. There was no rush on them last week when most vendors had dropped the price over $100.

So, Hp SB is holding my one credit card, Amazon the other, for fun, I tried to change my amazon order and it said unable due to already prepared to ship...
I did 5 orders totaling 8 touchpads, each order
Said the same thing!

Yes. I hear the same message.
But I am confused because I ordered them on Sunday - 08/21 3:00 AM (minutes rounded) but my order date is showing as Monday - 08/22 6:00 AM (minutes rounded) in email confirmation and showing the same in the order status also.
If they really follow same as the IVR message then I may loose Touchpads even though I ordered them a day before. Grrrrr...

I ordered on 8/20 and my order is showing 8/21!!! and and nothing has changed on my order status since other than pushing my ship out date back and delivery date back.. they still have it in admin phase...
I have emailed them, and have gotten no response.. I have called and was on hold for 91 minutes and hung up!

I just called the phone number on the email I received (which I posted earlier this morning). A recorded message said that if you ordered the touchpad BEFORE 4 am Monday, your order will be processed and you will receive free shipping (which is where I fit in, ordered Sunday morning). If you ordered AFTER 4 am Monday, your order will be cancelled. SO, that's the latest.

are you talking HP????? this is what I have on my confirmation email and when I call it, I am not and have not gotten a recorded message. I get a recording telling me to press 1 etc.. and I need 3. then that recording states the average wait time is 1 minute.. just like yesterday's 1 minute that I hung up on after waiting 91 minutes...

Here is what my order shows. I did not start this thread until after I purchased through Small Business on 8/20 around 1pm CST, so I'm probably ahead of most of you in priority.

My order date is listed as Aug 20. If you click "View>>" you will see more detail. I included the useful info. As you can see the ship and delivery date are the same.

If it is Indiana, then your orders will be filled by regional supply, which is the worst case scenario as people who ordered first may be supplied by a region that had more orders and/or less supply than other regions.

The final piece of information is ESD. Estimated Ship Date.

For me it shows a ship date of 8/25 and a delivery date of 8/30. This is the first time delivery date appears different than the ship date.

So there you go, please compare and contrast with your small business order. I used the link given in the confirmation email.

Do you have a link to check order status? The one I have doesn't give my anywhere near that amount of information.

What makes me more angry is that she said it was held up for "abusing" the sale. There wasn't a limit at 8:00 am when I ordered and I ordered 3. One for each kid and one for me. Mine isn't a need. Just a happy want. Theirs were for school as beginning college students. Where the heck is that abuse? Lol, thanks for listening! My husband owes you!

There is a link in my email (beside that phone number I posted which seems to be different from what others had and this was done thru small buisness). This link is for contact information, return policy or terms of sale. I clicked on it and it took me to a page that says Touch Pads are sold out.. and allows for email sign up to be notified when in stock. It also gives another number to contact.. 1.800.790.6947. I called that number, I was on hold for 10 minutes before getting a live person. I gave her my order number, and she said that was not her department. If not her department, her department only handles orders that start with HL or somthing..... then why the heck was that link, with that number on my email . She says she would gladly transfer me to the department that handles my order number. I then get a recording.. yada yada.. I press 3. I now hear what you guys are hearing about the order before Monday etc.. and free shipping. I have chosen to hold for a bit to see if I can get a live person.

I have noticed on my charge card, the amount pending is MORE than the amount they have in my confirmation.. The confirmation has shipping charges... if anything, shouldn't it be less.. like the amount of the shipping charges less instead of nearly $3.00 more They continue to have my order date showing as 8/21..... yet they placed those pending charges on my credit card on 8/20!!! hmmmm so exactly when did I place my order.. 8/20 I would say.. and that is when I placed it..not the 21st as they state in the confirmation.

Their customer service sucks.. if this is an any clue as what is to come.. I am starting to think maybe I did do the wrong thing.. I should have just saved my money till Christmas and gotten I-Pad's... Do not have a fire blow out sale and not expect to have this type of turnout.. They are not a good business to not know how to handle this.. and that explains why they had to have this fire sale....

Oh... Ok.. they usually only want son's too.. so for now on, since I have 2 DD's and 1 DS.. I will purchase one item and give to my DS That explains how to pick which child to give it to.. the one who carries the name on.. now if you have all girls.. you will have to find a male child who belongs to another member of your family to give it to..
