9/9/07 Wonder 4-day

DD- It's a Small World!

I have never cruised before so am not sure of the whole meet procedure. Is it everyone in your family, or just the DIS'ers? I'm sure my kids would like to make some new friends. DS11, DN10, DD8, DS5.

Kelley

I would say everyone in the family that wants to come. I went to one DIS meet YEARS ago in Atlanta and met several folks. Some had their kids and spouses and some had various combos of that and some - like me - came alone. But DH would be up to meeting folks on the cruise.

My oldest son (11) will have his cousin(10) there to hang out with, but DD(8) won't have anyone but her younger brother(4).

Is there anyone else in the same boat :rotfl: , sorry couldn't resist the bad pun. I'm sure she would love to meet new friends, before she even gets on the ship.

Just bumpin' this thread back up....

Is everyone packed yet? :rotfl:

Actually, I have done a little bit. I have put the stuff I have bought specifically for our trip in our slingback so I don't forget. Down to less than 4 months!!:cool1: :cool1:

 I was joking! :rotfl: I know what you mean though...I've set aside a few things I got for the trip. Not like clothes in a suitcase yet, but little odds and ends I've bought along the way.

So who's dressing up for pirate night? DD (3) is going to have a pirate costume, but I think DH and I are just going for pirate t-shirts and maybe hats. pirate:

We will be dressing up for Pirate Night. My DH has a patch and a hook and I will just wear a do-rag and white blouse with large hoop earings.

We're dressing up. I've thought about what to get - just haven't done much on it yet! We're taking DD to PI this Sat. night for her 21st birthday so that's what's on my horizon right now!

I'm trying to talk DH into matching shirts for embarkation - or a shirt for him & a dress for me - but he is less then thrilled about the idea! I think it's funny that he's enthusiastic about dressing for pirate night but won't wear a Tropical Mickey shirt on a Disney cruise!! I also suggested the very subtle polo's with the sillouette of Mickey - he didn't go for that either!

On pirate night, there should be alot of stuff out come July and August to coincide with the new movie being released. Should be cool:cool1:

Kim - did you dress up to eat? Or is it just a party on deck? I went on the 3 night in 12/01 - but they didn't do that back then.

Everyone wears their pirate outfits to dinner and then the deck party is right after dinner (if you have 2nd seating). If you eat in Palo on pirate night, I don't think you can wear your pirate outfit in there. We are planning on Palo Brunch for this cruise, we had dinner last time.

Just bumping us back up...

We're nearing the 3 month mark! Is everyone getting excited!? :dance3:

The count down is on in my house:banana:

Yes, I have an open suitcase out that I am putting the odds and ends I am picking up along the way.

About Pirate night, how in the world did you get your husband interested? My daughter and I MAY dress up if we can find some thing appropriate.

Have a great night. I am off to study for finals.

Oh, YES!!! Just got back from watching POC3 for the second time. I like it better the second time around because I knew what questions I needed answers for and then listened to get the answers. Both my DS' loved it. Had to cover their eyes in one part though. I even turned my head away. Just to gross.;)

Hi everyone!

My DBF (26) and I (28) will be on the 4-night starting on 9/9. It's my first cruise and the first Disney cruise for us both. We're spending eight nights at PO-R first!

Yay!

Our family of 5 (myself, DW, DD3, & Twin daughters 1) will join you on 9/9/07. DW & I have been on 5 cruises, all with RCCL, but this will be our first time on Disney. I've already read various opinions on how they compare, but I'm always open to more info. I consider myself pretty well versed on Royal Caribbean, but when it comes to DCL, I'm still learning about Pirate nights, rotating dining, and meeting the Disney characters. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.

My DD3 has been on 2 of those 5 cruises with us, and talks about cruising constantly, but she is getting very excited about sailing with Ariel, Cinderella, and the like. This girl l-o-v-e-s Disney princesses, and is planning on taking her Princess dresses with her to play "dress-up." I have seen many pics of several kids dressed as characters, but I'm curious: Are there certain events that these costumes would be more appropriate at, or can she just wear them at random since she is pretty insistant that she's not going to take them off unless she's getting in the pool?

I'm looking forward to any tips or pointers you guys can offer, and we're very excited about joining you in just over 3 mos!

Glad to hear you guys are going to join us! We also have a DD who will have just turned 3 when we sail. We are bringing her Snow White dress (a costume from last Halloween) and she'll probably wear it on "dress up" night and she has a pirate outfit she'll wear on Pirate night. If your daughter wants to wear her dresses for the entire cruise, I'm sure that would be fine! I think a lot of little girls dress up for pictures with the princesses and also for formal (dress-up) dinner.

As for dinner, since you cruise a lot, you know how the dinner times work. We picked early seating since we didn't want to be in the dining room with a 3 year old until 10pm. Check out the FAQ thread on the disboards DCL page - it has all the info on rotations and times etc.

Happy planning! Glad to have you "aboard"! pirate:
