9/9/07 Wonder 4-day

but what does this mean?

"but in order to catch MNNSHP"

I noticed that you are in MS. My husband is a MSU grad. We lived in Tupelo before moving to KY.

Have a great day.
Amy

edited to correct spelling.

MNNSHP=Mickey's Not No Scary Halloween Party pirate: Did I abbreviate it right? :rotfl: The first night is going to be Friday Sept 14 AND Haunted Mansion was going to be closed for refurb. the week before, so we moved our dates!

We just moved to MS from LA. My uncle was a professor at Miss St, so we went up there a few times to visit. Very pretty school. We're in Hattiesburg now, but like I said, we just moved here, so I'm getting used to the area. I think we are going to try to fly out of Jackson this time. Do you know anything about that airport??

I've never been to that airport, but I do have a friend who used to work there. He says it's a pretty small airport. Southwest has nonstop flights from Jackson to Orlando.

Just received it. I am so excited. I wasn't expecting anything from the DCL until about 30 days out. Very cool read and great anticipation at this household :cool1:

What does this look like? I hope we receive one as well. Have a "wonder"ful time with you planning. :yay: Let us know if the calendar helps.

Amy

The "Calendar" is a piece of paper that states when you can make reservations. The cool thing is the booklets that are included. Detail on the excursions, gift ideas, insurance information. Stuff to read and get you even more excited. Just seeing an envelope in my mailbox from Disney made my day:cool1:

I just got my planner yesterday. :yay: What a lovely surprise to find in my mailbox. I wasn't expecting anything this soon. Some of the information was very interesting, like the duty free shopping (still don't understand that), and the customs. :confused3

Another 9/9 cruiser here. DH 47 & me 46 celebrating our 25th Anniversary (9/12)

We're from Georgia, But we've been to Kentucky, Mississippi, Illinois and Kansas - I was born in KC and actually have a cousin who lives in Olathe! So I think I meet the qualifications!! :)

This is our 2nd Disney Cruise - we went on a 3 night December 2001 with our then 15 yo DD and my parents and had a blast! If it was up to me, we'd stay at Castaway Cay every day!

Congratulations on the anniversary. We will be celebrating 13 this year - October 1st. Does you cousin live in East or West Olathe? We live east of I35.
Small world!

I don't know. I've been to her house a few times but I never did the driving myself so I didn't pay attention. I know her house is right across the street from a big industrial park - i think a chicken packing factory or something!! It sounds yucky - but her house is really nice and she owns a ton of land - I think all the way out to apparently I35 - I know it's an interstate!!

The only thing I can think of is the Delco battery plant. That closed a couple of years ago. That is West of I35. Again, what a small world!

WooHoo !! Got my planner today. I was so excited. My DH just laughed at me when I was showing him how "cute" it was put together.

Are you all dressing up for Pirate Night? I really don't want to spend a lot of money for something I won't wear otherwise! I think I'll just get a bandanna and maybe a peasant blouse. I seriously doubt if I can talk DH into dressing up AT ALL! Back when DD was little there might have been a chance - but no kids on this trip and she'll be 21 in a week and a half anyway!

I know what you mean about excitement. It is just exciting for me since I booked this trip 3/06 and I am finally getting something from Disney signifying that we are getting close.

My kids are dressing up for pirate - my DS9 wants to be Jack Sparrow for Halloween so that works out great. My DH has an eye patch and hook that he will wear with a t-shirt and I am going to just wear a blouse and do my hair with big jewelry. Should be fun!

On my last Disney Cruise I didn't think I'd want to dress up for pirate night, but then when I realized how much fun it was going to be we bought bandanas and pirate tshirts. I think for this one I'm going to buy a full pirate outfit. I'm going with all adults, but we think it will be fun to dress up. Pirate night was my favorite night on the ship!pirate:

So is everyone's final payment due on or around 6/6/07? :confused3 That's what my invoice from my TA says, but that sounds a little early. How late can you cancel without penalty (i.e. lose your deposit)? Is it 75 days?

Also when can we start booking excursions and kids activites online? I know you have to be paid in full and I thought I read 75 days (for first time DCL cruisers) - is that right??

Anyone picked out any excursions yet? I think we are going to Blackbeard's Island excusion in Nassua, and maybe just floats and bikes in CC.

Can't wait! :woohoo:

Yes, final payment is 6/6/07 and booking excursions is 75 days for first timers. We were thinking of the Queen Snorkel tour and then the dolphin swim for DS11 who LOVES them but the $$$ - WOW so now I am toying with Blackbeard's Island excursion. I like the idea of lounging on the beach and letting the kiddos snorkel at will. The idea of snorkeling in open water with my 6 1/2 year old makes me a little nervous. I would hate to pay all that $ and have her get scared and just stay in the boat.

Has anyone done the Blackbeard Excursion and the Queen Snorkel and advise which would be more worthwhile?

My letter said my final payment is due 6/26. Is that because I'm in the Castaway Club? I can book excursions 6/11 if I've paid in full.

I was very shocked last night - after getting off the boards I went upstairs and DH was looking through the packet and said he wanted to do the Catamaran snorkeling, rent a boat, go on the eco tour AND do Palo! I really didn't think he'd want to do all that! I don't think we'll do all 3 of those at Castaway Cay - maybe do the snorkeling and if he wants to kayak on the eco tour - I'll take a nap!! But I'm going to try and get Palo for the 12th since that's our actual anniversary.

I told him I'd been looking for pirate outfits on line and he asked why. When I told him about the party he was totally into it - 25 years and the guy still surprises me!! He thought it would be cool if he could like like Captain Jack Sparrow.

So I looked on E-bay and found some patterns and looked at other costumes for ideas. Unfortunately most of the costumes for women were "sexy" pirate costumes - at 46 w/ extra weight and a double mastecomy - don't think I need to do that!!! But I thought I'd look for a peasant top and I could make myself a striped skirt and get a wide belt or scarf for my waist. I've got a necklace that looks like gold coins and I've got tons of bandanas from chemo so that won't be a problem. I'm going to look for a "puffy" shirt (Seinfield!) for DH and I can make him a sash. We've got a friend who's a biker that probably has a leather vest that would do.

Kim - did you dress up to eat? Or is it just a party on deck? I went on the 3 night in 12/01 - but they didn't do that back then.

Are we all going to try and meet at some point? I always like meeting other Dis'ers and since we'll be by ourselves it would be nice to have some folks to hang out with some.

DD-

Our letter says 6/26 also, although we are not members of Castaway Club. Since we have som many people in our party, 10 in all, I don't know what kind of excursions we'll be doing.

I think snorkeling would be great fun, and we want to visit some of the 18th Century forts in Nassau.

Where abouts in Georgia are you located? I have relatives in Atlanta, Millidgeville, Cordele, and Leesburg? Would love to meet any DIS'ers that are interested in getting together!:hippie:

Kelley

Count us in for a meet. We are a family of 5 - me and DH 40ish, DS11 - embarking day, DS9, and DD6 1/2.

Kelley - I'm 30 miles from Cordele! A very small town called Hawkinsville. I also grew up in Americus which is about 20 miles from Leesburg.

I think we decided last night to do the Catamaran snorkeling in Nassau and then do the 4 in 1 package they show on line at Castaway - it's not in that booklet. That was snorkel rental for the whole day, a float for the whole day, an hour bike rental and an hour w/the stingrays. I told him if he wanted to do the kayak thing w/o me that I was fine with that - but he very sweetly said he didn't want to do anything I didn't want to do. We might also rent a boat or do the banana boat thing since they aren't that expensive.

Well I wonder why some people have to pay by 6/6 and others by 6/26?

I got nervous about the 6/6 and the 6/26 thing so I just looked at the information from my TA - it has that the final is due 6/6/07!! Maybe TA's are asking for it a little early to make sure the money is there in time for the DCL deadline? Anyway - I'm glad I checked!! I'd hate to have something go wrong because of 20 days!!

As far as meeting goes - where and when? I guess we can look at other threads and see what they're doing! Or if anyone has done it before let us know how you did it. We went on the 3 night in 12/01 - but I've literally had my brain fried since then!! :hippie: I can't remember the names of places or think of where would be good to meet!:sail:
