9/24/09 3 Day Wonder - Part 2 - the Goombays just won't die....!

Jen -- I hope you are having a great time at Disneyland! I loved it -- even though it's smaller than Disneyworld, it is special -- and Walt was there!

Karen -- what have you guys decided about the TA cruise? I had thoughts of cancelling, things are still so up in the air for me with not moving yet and all, but I REALLY, REALLY want to go, and since they aren't doing a TA next year since they won't be in the Med...I just don't know!! If I was still going to be for sure at my current job, it would be a no brainer and I would totally go, but it's not until September! Decisions, decisions!!

Lainey -- when are you guys getting together? I might be there, so let me know...

we're not 100% sure either at the mo, same here, we REALLY want to go on it, but final payment is something like the 13th may, and i've still got to come up with about £700 between now and then, and i'm broke :(
so lainey, the dinner may change again if we cancel the cruise.....

mary, huge thanks for sponsoring me for my charity walk, i really do appreciate it and its going to a great cause :)

Just let me know karen we have ressies for the wednesday before the cruise for lunch at le cellier.
Mary right now we are going to meet sunday after greg and i get off the ship.

congrats on the new house by the way! got any pictures?

Who got a new house? I still have the same old one, if you were talking to me. No sale yet...boo!!

So, I went ahead and BOOKED MY FLIGHT TO BARCELONA!! :cool1:  I decided that I really want to go, so I just did it! I got a super deal on cheapoair, it was only $545. I have a 9 hour layover in London too, so I can check out something there in that time i'm sure! I wasn't wild about getting in to BCN so late (9:20 pm on the 8th), but the long layover in London made it ok. I'll still have all day on Friday and part day on Saturday to check it out.

Now, I just have to get Karen and Gary onboard for sure.... ;)

we want to come onboard for sure, but money situation at the mo is a bit iffy.....
which london airport are you stopping over in and on what date?

Can you get the disney visa in the UK? That's what I always use, and you get 6 months no interest to pay it off.

It stops at Heathrow, on the 8th of September. Flight gets in at 9:45 am and then my next flight is at 6:30 pm. What is there fun to do in just a few hours? I've never been to Europe before, so anything will be exciting for me!!

Lainey, yay for a new house!! That's exciting. One of these days, i'll have one of my own, LOL!! :cool1:

you can easily get into london and out again in that time, heathrow airport has a direct train link to london. so the question is what do you want to do in london?!

we'll deffo have to link reservations again if we're on the same seating. we've gone for main dining this time. there's a bunch of the meet thread linking reservations, but its going to be a huge group, and i'd rather know in advance who im sitting with :)

and no, we cant get the disney visa :( i want a card with a castle on it :(

oh and are you going solo? is tim coming?

No, Tim isn't coming with...he doesn't have the attention span to enjoy a 2 week cruise!! :rotfl:

That stinks you can't get the Disney Visa! Boo!:sad2:

I'm doing late dining right now, but maybe I will change to early...I haven't decided just yet. I have to see what I decide to do in port, make sure I have enough time to not be rushed...but then the early dining is good because you don't miss the later things...decisions, decisions!!

I'm thinking of maybe doing a bus tour and then I'm not sure...what's good to do there? I'm excited about getting to see more than one city while i'm there. My flight was such a good deal -- on British Airway's site it sells for 1610, and i got it for 545!! Yay for a good deal!!

Lainey, how long are you in FL for? You will have a great time on the Dream, she's beautiful!! Now i'll have been on all three ships, and maybe they will have another cast preview or something next year that my friend can book me on...can't wait to see the Fantasy!! :cool1:

we were on late dining, have always done late dining, but fancied a change this time. (also aided by the fact that there's very few kids on this cruise so early dining will be quiet!)
we've had such a great time at dinner the past two times that we dont end up leaving til at least 10.30, which means we're never hungry for the pirate and dessert buffets, and we miss most of the evening entertainment.
so trying early this time

we will be staying at AKL from 9/17-9/22 and then the sunday we get off the cruise and we fly out on monday afternoon.
We have no clue who we will be eating with on the cruise

Hi guys! I'm back! I had a blast but it was exhausting! I came home on Monday and was wiped yesterday. Disneyland is tiny compared to Disney World! Some things are better over in CA. I definitely thought the fireworks were better which is something I thought I'd never say! But overall I like Disney World better.

Kris and I booked a 2 night getaway cruise out of NYC for June 2012! I'm so excited they're sailing out of New York!! He's never been on a cruise so we figured we'd do a tester first before we did the real thing :)

saw those cruises - great way to get into cruising for your guys up north!

Greg and i like the one that goes from NY down to the bahamas and you get to spend a day at the world that one looked kinda cool. I also like the one from galveston,tx.

I'm glad you had fun in CA!! I'm jealous you got to see World of Color, they were still in testing phase when I was there last year. I've heard it's awesome! And I was never in the park for the fireworks, but I did see them from my hotel one night...very cool!! I just loved being in the park and knowing Walt was there...

So Karen, I think i'm going to do a bus tour while i'm in London since I have a short time and want to see the big things. I'm looking at the Big Bus Tour...do you know anything about that? I'll take the Heathrow Express, so then i'll have to walk from Paddington Station to the Marble Arch (I think that's it) because that's one of the starting points for the tour. Can you suggest some good places to eat? I should have time for lunch.

there's a lot of those bus tours in london, there's the one you said, there's big red bus tours, city sightseeing (global company), tons of them. never been on them though so i cant really help with any recommendations, sorry :(
also i'm a bit naff with restaurant recommendations too, i live so close to london, but i only go in maybe once or twice a year, i tend to end up eating in either chinatown or just grabbing mcdonalds or kfc.
sorry for the total lack of helpful info!!

although i did just google map it, and paddington to marble arch should only take about 20 minutes walking. the middle of london is quite easy to get around, if you dont want to walk it, the underground (subway) is easy to navigate.
i think i'll probably be working that day but if i'm not i can always meet you in london, i've never really done the sightseeing thing, so it'll be new for me too!
