Since we aren't doing any excursions on the Nassau day, I think I'll use that day to walk around the ship and take pictures. And hang out by the pool. :cool2:

i'm still toying with the idea of going to one of the all inclusive places for the day, but i need to look into it more to see if its worth it.

plus will probably spend a bit of the nassau day delivering FE gifts (thats if i dont get too excited on the first day and do them all that night!!)

Awesome pictures! I would love to go to Hawaii one day.

I hated my old camera, the pictures never came out great. Always dark and the battery would drain quick. I got a new one for Christmas and ended up taking over 40 pictures at the Yankee game Wednesday night plus video so....I plan on getting 1 or 2 memory cards for Disney. I plan on taking lots and lots of pictures.

Thank you! We have been there twice, we have found that it is much cheaper to fly to Vegas or LA, and stay the night, then fly to Honolulu. That coupled with staying at vacation rentals, the trips are really pretty affordable!

Jenny, you will take tons of pictures at POR, it is really beautiful there. I highly suggest using lithium batteries in your camera, they are more expensive, but they last a lot longer! If you don't turn the camera on and off a lot, they may even last you the entire trip.

my old boss has an amazing camera, it has a 10x zoom, its so good! but its about £200 and i cant afford it!! lol
When Circuit City went out of business here, they had a huge sale. I got a 10 megapixel Fuji camera with a 15x optical zoom. I used the camera on a trip to Vegas in February, but I don't have any of those pictures uploaded. I can't wait to use it on the Disney trip, I want to finally get goof fireworks pictures...instead of the blurs I end up with!

:scared1: OMG!! I'll be up for DAYS sorting pictures of you all! :rotfl2: Just remember whose bright idea it was to have a "contest" when you are all chomping at the bit to get your CDs...:lmao:

No, seriously, take as MANY as you can. The more you take, the better the chance you'll get some really good ones. I'm counting on Photopass cause honestly, I might carry a camera around, but it rarely seems to make it out of my pocket <sigh>. I'm just not a good picture taker... But I hope to do better for this trip. I MIGHT even bring the video recorder!

Forgive me for not having read all the posts yet... are we planning on any quick cruise meet?

Karen,
Speaking of the FE exchange...I called DCL, and they tell me I won't have a cabin number until we check in. Apparently since my cruise was booked using a DVC Voucher, we are some of the last people who will be assigned cabins. I am going to try later in the summer to see if I can get assigned a cabin before we arrive, but right now they are not being coporative with me at all.:sad1:

i'm on a GTY so i wont get a cabin number til less than a month before the cruise. hopefully by then you'll have a number too.

a meet up sounds good, maybe we should try and arrange a meet after lunch but before the lifeboat drill on the first day. that way we can get to meet each other from the start, and if there's any problems with room assignments etc we can let people know the correct numbers.

We have a GTY too, so won't know until 30 or so days before... (has fingers crossed for an upgrade!).

Anyway, I'm all for a meet whenever you all want to do one!

stacy what cat GTY are you booked in? we've got a cat 12

is everyone up for a meet then? i'm thinking the first day would probabl be better as it wont interfere with people's plans as much.

I know me and jen were talking earlier about possibly meeting at the adult pool when we get on the ship for our own sail away party but greg and i are up for anything.
I am planing on bringing at least one memory card for the DW half of the trip and one for the DCL half of the trip. but with the amount of pictures i took last time(at least 300 possibly more on a 6 day dw trip @ POFQ) and now we are staying at the poly so i know that will up the photos i take and i know that the camera(sony cybershot) can hold atleast 500+ photos. My walgreens bill is gonna be CRAZY!! when we get back:scared1:
Oh Mikkel i ment to tell you that the fishing excursion on castaway cay has 2 times that you can schedule to do it we are doing the 9am fishing trip but they also have a 1pm fishing trip and it lasts about 3 hours and you get a snack.

i dont mind when/where the meet up is, whatever suits everyone is cool with me :)

I'm up for meeting for on the ship. I just got off the phone with DCL, they said unless I have a doctor note saying that there is a medical reason I need to be assigned a certain part of the ship that I won't get my assignment until the day of the cruise. So now I am planning to give the doctor a call to have her give me a note, because I do have a medical issue now that probably explains why I got so sick on the first Disney Cruise I took. I have something called benign postional vertigo, it's a small piece of plaque that travels up and down my ear canal and makes me dizzy. I just got a prescription to take when I am having symptoms, and the doctor told me that I should try and get a cabin mid-ship, because I probably will feel the motion less. Take that stupid sea sickness:sick:, I am going to have a good time on this cruise if it kills me.

give it a go, it might help you get a cabin assignment! if you dont get an assignment until you get to the port, we'll just have to make sure that we let people know your room number at the meet.

I'm up for a meet. I know a few of us were talking about meeting up during the sailaway party but we should pick a place before the lifejacket drill so we can all meet and get the cabin numbers sorted out.

Donna, I just got lithium batteries for my camera and they are great! So much better than regular batteries because those last me about 2 days when I'm taking lots of pictures. I'll definitely be buying more of the lithium kind when we go to Disney.

i use to have a kodak digital camera that took lithium batteries but when i took it to the world they batteries would last about a day so now i am using my moms little camera it has a rechargable battery and it lasts for about a week and i am much happier with that. she use to have a nikon coolpix (her first digital camera) but i will prob. never buy another kodak digital camera both my mom and i have had kodak digital cameras and havn't liked them.
Just tell me when and where we are meeting and greg and I will be there.

My first camera was a kodak. I had one of the EasyShare cameras. No matter what batteries you put in that thing, they didn't last very long. I had to change them almost on a daily basis when I took it to Disney. Any picture I would take at night, unless I was extremely close to something, always came out dark too.

What would be a good place to meet on the ship for the thread meet? And if we plan on meeting for the sailaway party?

yay i got my cruise docs today!! well the welcome pack anyway!!
i dont mind where we meet, guessing its probably gotta be somewhere on deck 9 or 10? are you guys going to the sailaway party or are you going to the adult pool?
the main reason i suggested meeting before the lifeboat drill is thats probably the only time that it wont majorly affect peoples plans, ie theres nothing planned for that time, no dinners, no excursions, and nothing for the meet to get in the way of.
i'm easy on the time and place anyway, we'll be there :)

Yes Karen, we are doing a GTY 12 cabin. With a 3 year old, we don't plan to be in it much! LOL An upgrade would be fantastic, but we are good if we don't get one.

The plan for us at the moment is to get to the ship around 11:45 or so and get on as soon as we can board (noonish?). Eat lunch, and check out the ship. Sounds like you can go to your room at 1:30? We'd check it out then, and depending on if there is time or how Kaleb is doing, put him down for a short nap. Other than that, we don't have any plans. I should be able to meet anytime / place you all think is good.
