I want to try it once. It looks like it could be fun. I think I'm going to rent one out of POR. I like the idea of being able to sail by MK and the other resorts and take pictures but I've read that there's too much marine traffic that way. I liked the boat ride from DTD to POR last time we went to WDW. It was really relaxing. Plus, I'll get a look at those tree house villas!

i might try the sea raycers at POR or DTD, but there was just too much traffic on seven seas lake. :scared: think it may be more enjoyable going down the sassagoula river at POR, its a lovely river to take a boat ride down.
plus on seven seas lake theres a LOT of no sail zones, you cant get particularly close to the MK, you have to stay out the way of the ferries (for obvious reasons) you cant get close to any of the resorts, you have to stay clear of the islands in the middle of the lagoon and in bay lake. there's a lot more restrictions on where you can go than i thought there'd be

I'd definitely rather take the Sassagoula River route then. It seems like it's easier to steer clear of the ferries going from POR than WL. Plus, I don't want to have to worry if I'm breaking any "rules" by going into a restricted area. Do they give you a quick tutorial on how to work the boat?

yeah they tell you how it works, they attach you to it so if you fall off it cuts the motor out. :rotfl: :scared:
we saw a few going down the river when we were on the POR to DTD boat and it looked a lot more enjoyable than the ones we took on the MK lake. they sit quite low on the water too, think thats what made me and gary not enjoy it so much, it just felt like it was either going to sink or tip over in the choppy water on seven seas lagoon.

I've heard they're really low in the water. And if you catch another boat's wake, that the sea raycer will take on water. I read that there are gators in Bay Lake near the Contemporary. That kind of made up my mind for me. :scared:

i wouldnt have got one if i knew that!! :scared:
definately going for a pontoon boat next time then!!! yeah they're really low in the water, i just didnt feel safe. not good when you're in the middle of a HUGE lake.....

I know our Disney package always comes with a voucher to buy 60 min and get 30 min free for the sea raycer. Since we've always stayed at Pop and never had the chance because there are no rentals there (even though they have a lake :confused3) we figured we'd try it out this trip.

ooh, just realised that in exactly 4 months we'll be at gatwick airport, probably at a pub, flying out in the morning :)

we've got one of those vouchers too, i'd imagine an hour and a half might be a bit long on a sea raycer though......

oooh, and in 2 months i'll be on a plane to spain!!

I'm sure it flies by, if you're having a good time on it that is. I love being out on the water so as long as we don't feel like we're sinking (even if we are! :rotfl:) we'll probably have fun.

Woohoo! Spain and Disney World! Lucky!

Karen, I'm jealous of your trip to spain! I'm sure it will be awesome! I'm super excited because tonight at band we found out for sure that we are going to gremant in 2011! Its a two week trip, and we should be there for my birthday! I'm hoping tim and I can go a few days early and go some other places, I really would lije to go to london and for sure paris!

Jen, the blackhawks won, yay! Now we go onto the western conference finals!!

We did the sea racers before while we were staying at WL camo ground and they were great me and my brother had really fast ones and half of the lake in that area really isn't used by anyone other than the pontoon boats so you don't have to worry about the transfer boats taking people to the park or other resorts. But it was worth using the vouchers and it was so much fun i would love to do it again. They are really easy to use only my dad and stepmom had any problems with theirs so i think it just depends on the boat ours went over all the wakes but i couldn't keep up with my brother.
Jen-we also have to get pictures of the guys in their life jackets it will def. be a kodak moment :rotfl:

Mary - I haven't been keeping up much with the playoffs since the Rangers lost but I'm glad the Blackhawks won! :woohoo:

Lainey - I think they go faster if you have less weight in them. So if Joe and I got separate ones we'd be zipping around the lake but we'll probably get one together and it'll be slow. :rotfl: And yes, we're definitely getting a picture of the guys in their lifejackets! The first time we went on NCL, they had photographers in the hallway waiting to take pictures of people during the drill. There was a great shot of Joe!

well jen if greg and i get one i dont know if we will use it do you think they would let yall use ours if so you can and both of you can get seperate boats so you can race to see who is faster. :rotfl:
i told greg about the lifejacket pictures he said it sounds funny and i told him it will look funny b/c the jackets are pretty big and they make it where you cant really more your head around.

I don't know if I want Joe driving a sea raycer by himself. He may crash it. :rotfl: He can be a bit accident prone at times. I can see him getting stuck on the banks of the Sassagoula River as I speed by. :lmao:

i nearly grounded ours on the shallow bits next to the contemporary. was too busy trying to avoid the HUGE ferries (that seem all the more huge when you're not much more than a foot above the water!) that i nearly grounded us in the reeds!

you could play the "see if we last 90 minutes without falling off" game!! :rotfl:

last year i booked my cruise through disney, then transferred the booking to a travel agent to get some extra onboard credit. we got $25 from disney then an extra $25 from the travel agent. not much but it helped!!
i've just emailed the travel agent we used last year to see if they'll match the $50 dreams unlimited are offering at the mo. not really expecting them to say yes but hey its worth a try! at the very least they'll give me $25 again, but it cant hurt to ask!

we fly out in exactly 4 months!! this time in 4 months we'll be in atlanta airport, probably in TGIs!

Any kind of onboard credit deal is a good thing. It's like finding money on the street!

I will be there in 4 months and 7 days! :thumbsup2
