Water, Water, Water...

We bring full water bottles (wide mouth) into Disneyland and then, as the day goes on, ask for cups of ice water from the restaurants. They are always happy to oblige. We use that water to refill our water bottles. Much less expensive than buying bottled water. Drinking fountains are not an option for us (ever!) because one of my children has a life-threatening nut allergy and you never know what people have eaten before they slobbered all over the fountain.

We were in DL this past August, and CMs were happy to give us ice water. Every time we passed a location where we could get some we did. It was so hot, and it was nice to have water at all times.

Can you ask for a free cup of ice water at the CS places? I know that WDW does this, and I just assumed that's what we would do at DL also.

Yes, you can do this at DLR. We do it often and refill our bottles.
We also fill our bottles at Rancho Del Zocalo's faucet and the First Aid station has cold filtered water as well. A few times we have asked to refill at the soda fountains in certain restaurants (Pizza Port comes to mind) with water and the CM's have always said yes.

This is what we do everytime we go to Dl or WDW. I never carry a water bottle - too many other thing to carry or hold (ie: kids' hands)

Here are my suggestions:

1) You can buy the bigger 1L bottles of water for $3.59 at some places in the park, it is a much better deal than the $3.29 or $3 for the 500 mL bottles. If you don't want fountain water, this is the way to go.

2) Bring your own, I usually by a case and bring 2-3 with me. You can refill 1/3 and freeze them overnight and refill before leaving to keep them cold.

Not sure what you mean by drink a lot of water (like more than 4L a day?), but maybe drink less of it, or drink more before and after? Sound like you may spend most of the time in loo! ;)

I personally think the water from the drinking fountains at DL taste nasty. We are going to bring Crystal Light to mask the taste on our next trip.

This is what we do too. We're spoiled up here in Western Canada with fresh spring water at every turn... even our tap water is delicious so the water down there is really hard to swallow (pun intended). Crystal light packs are light and mask the nastiness well! My kids stay well hydrated this way.

I have one of those Brita water bottles. I think that it does a pretty good job with the taste of the water, cuz I personally think Disney water is gross. But you can refill in lots of places. Even the CS place in tomorrow land has a walk up spot to refill water.

Who thinks the water in Disneyland is fine? It's Anaheim well water, which has a malodorous sulfur taste. It may be safe to drink, but it's hardly what I'd call great tasting. The Brita bottle filter works great in removing chlorine, but it's limited in what it can do with the mineral-ly water from the taps and fountains.

I understand that the water in the restaurants is filtered and maybe even RO to remove a lot of the junk from the well water.

Oh no, I don't drink the regular water in Anaheim. lol It isn't good at all, tastes horrible. But I do drink the filtered water they have, from the soda machines, the "faucet fountain" in RDZ and the fountain in First Aid. I don't refill in the bathroom sink or anything. lol

Maybe I'm crazy! I honestly didn't think it was that bad the last time I was there. I thought Orlando water was much worse.

Yup, crazy..... ;) :thumbsup2:hyper:

So what would you think then about these foldable water bottles? I might bring some when I come in September!

I have some of those, I don't like them for DL because they don't hold enough water. I send the kids to school with them, they are easy to carry in their backpacks.

To be honest I usually just take in a bottle of water from a case that I bring. We bring 1 case for our family of 4, it normally lasts us 2 or 3 days because we also drink them in the room, when my bottle is empty at the parks I refill from one of the places I mentioned, at the end of the day I recycle my bottle and grab a new one in the morning. When we run out we run to Target and get another case. Sometimes I take an actual refillable bottle but not often because I'm still going to need the bottle from the store to fill it. lol

It's well water. The City of Orlando uses Artesian groundwater from the Floridian aquifer. It likely picks up lots of carbonate and sulfur. I wouldn't be surprised that it's worse than Anaheim well water.

Not sure what WDW uses, although I'm guessing it may be the same or similar source. Lots of water in Florida goes through the Everglades, which is a limestone base.

Ah well. Wouldn't be the first time someone called me crazy. lol It doesn't taste like bottled water or anything, but I didn't think it was that bad!

In WDW, I use a Camelbak bottle with a filter. That helps a lot.

Are you still allowed to wear a camelpack or other wearable water packs in WDW? Is it worth the hassle of wearing of it or is it nicer to just suck it up and buy water when you need it to avoid wearing a heavier pack of water. Just looking ppl to share their personal experience as we prep for our trip.

You should probably consider starting a thread on the WDW boards. This is a 12+ year old thread on the Disneyland board. While they are the same parent company the rules are not always the same.

If you are bringing a bag to the parks, there are tons of water bottles that will clip to a bag. That you, you can carry a water bottle with you and still have your hands free for other things.
