That's how I felt initially. I didn't know anyone. We probably cruised with some of you but didn't know it. I did feel welcomed on the board by the group and the conversation is so funny at times that I keep coming back just to read the comments. I think I have a good character judgment and I feel this group is a good bunch, I'm proud and happy to be getting to know you all. Your all very nice.:flower3:

This was very uncharacteristic of me to write something mushy like this but I mean it.

Pete

Oh Pete, you're sweet!

The CM rate is wonderful, don't get me wrong. It even includes the gratuities! But, safe to say that if my DB sailed on the EB repo, I would rather pay the extra $$$ than risk being left on the dock! :scared1:

That would be really bad! I imagine it is hard enough when it happens on a regular cruise (3/4 or 7 day) that might be able to be rescheduled, and worse yet when it is celebrating something special, such as birthday, anniversary, etc. But when it's something like this that doesn't come along but once every so many years, if it comes again at all - :scared1: .

That was VERY nice of you to say we appear to be a nice gang here...

However....

<chuckles>

Ya Gotta watch out for some of these Pirates and the Wenches!....

Especially around the 1000th and 10,000th postings....

From what I understand, it doesn't happen all that frequently, but it does happen. Now CMs have the ability to select from inside, outside and verandah staterooms. You'd also run the risk of getting bumped from a verandah into an inside stateroom. Yes, you're still on the ship at a GREAT price, but if you absolutely have to have a particular type of stateroom, then you're out of luck! I guess it has to do with a person's threshold of risk!

I'm just amazed at how fast you put your colorful posts together, especially when racing towards the 1000 marks.

You summed it up beautifully!!! :thumbsup2 I had been a lurker on the boards for about a year before I mustered up the courage to sign up. Then, I continued to lurk for quite some time. It's thanks to this great thread and wonderful group of people I have managed to post over 100 times in the past week! What an incredibly warm group ALL of you are! :grouphug:

Fear not...!!!

... the (DIS) Force is powerful ....

We are indeed a decent lot!

Awww.....you are so sweet, Pete!

In my case, I figured with a group this big I'd rather be part of the fun group instead of resenting the big group that took over my quiet little cruise. :cutie:

I don't think that's it at all -- however, it's intimidating for many to jump into a thread where so many people already know each other (either from a previous cruise or from the "virtual" world of the Dis) and so much of the conversation goes by so quickly. If someone asks a question and doesn't check back in immediately, it can be hard to even find the answer! I think for many people the website that Lisa sets up elsewhere will be a great place for shared information, easily accessible, and less daunting than this thread. I'm sure that everyone is thrilled so see that there will be such a lively group on this cruise, even if they don't feel they can jump in as so many can.

Yeah, I agree. I joined DIS in 2002 before my first cruise and never posted in a meet thread. I didn't post for a few years but then came looking for information last year. I posted in the 10-day HC thread to say I was coming, but pretty much lurked for the longest time b/c everyone knew each other and were talking about things I knew nothing about. But eventually I jumped in and ended up being one of the top 20 posters.

So I had no problems jumping right in here (whether y'all like it or not)

So, lurkers, jump in.

Seriously, though, Pete...I totally agree with you. I believe that every person we meet comes into our lives at particular times for particular reasons. And I consider myself lucky be surrounded by this great group of people! Can't wait to meet you all!

DO IT, DO IT, DO IT (nothing like a little peer pressure, eh?)

Good morning all! I wont be able to catch up on the posting frenzy to 14000 last night for a while. DS needed to get an appointment today because of a strange rash on his thighs and he woke up this morning with a sore throat that wont let him swallow anything. There goes my plans for the day...including getting my license renewed. At least there is tomorrow. Catch ya'll later!

:grouphug: to your son...take care of him, we'll hold down the fort here
