The possibility of expanding the Cruise Line, if they can get the right price on building new ships. The West Coast 2008 schedule set a 1st day Booking Record, and that both Repositing Cruise have been Oversold.

Am I the only one who's concerned about this? DCL hasn't had the best track record these past few weeks!

Is anyone still seated at late dining in this group? We have never done main dining before, not sure how the family feels about it. I did it last year on a business cruise w/o the family, and I always felt so rushed. But it seems like everyone is Main, so maybe I will talk to DH and see if we can switch...Any thoughts:confused3

Debi

WE ARE, WE ARE :thumbsup2 . We like it better for the same reason you do. We would feel rushed. The down-side is I felt I missed out on some of the night time activities.

This is from Miceage. Pretty interesting stuff, including a brief mention of DCL at the bottom. You'll note the lack of details on the Mexican cruises themselves!

Jay Rasulo comments at the 2007 Investors Conference
Jay Rasulo spoke at the Lion King Theater in WDW this evening to a group of Stock Brokers and other invited Investors.

He had 3 major points.

1. Improve Existing Businesses

He stated the Hong Kong Disneyland was moving "More Slowly" than expected, which matches Tom Staggs comment that HKD was "more challenging than we thought" made earlier today.

He mentioned that "Where Dreams Come True" will be a long term marketing idea, and then addressed the current year plan, Year of a Million Dreams where he described the program and mentioned that over 300,000 prizes (he called the dreams) have been rewarded.

2. Tapping into Emerging Markets

Talked about potential growth, especially in the Asian, Eastern Europe and Latin American markets.

3. Establish a Bigger Footprint

This was the most interesting part, because he talked about possible BLUE SKY ideas. Once again, the following plans are NOT concrete and are still just in the discussion stages. Also, these Ideas are worldwide proposals, so they might only be built outside of the USA.

Building Themed Hotels in cities other than those that have Disney Theme Parks, where you would just have a Disney Themed hotel. Good potential for 3rd party Equity funding, and working with third party vendors, similar to the Oriental Land deal.

Opening Downtown Disney Shopping Malls in non-Theme Park cities as a stand alone location. He stated the the Anaheim Downtown Disney location is in the Top 5 California malls based on Sale Revenue per Square foot.

Building stand Alone Disney Water Parks in new cities, maybe Indoor, maybe Outdoor or both.

Building smaller "Niche" theme Parks that are Deeply Immersing, where Disney could have a smaller initial outlay, but be able to charge an All Exclusive Price that would be Many times the current cost of visiting a Disney Theme Parks, either near the existing resorts, or as a Stand Alone park in a new city.

Then he talked about two Existing Businesses that had some BLUE SKY ideas.

The possibility of expanding the Cruise Line, if they can get the right price on building new ships. The West Coast 2008 schedule set a 1st day Booking Record, and that both Repositing Cruise have been Oversold.

And then DVC (Vacation Club), how the investment is low and has brought in Strong Double Digit Profits. They have been tracking the owners that have been trading points for other locations for the possibility of building DVC hotels in popular Foreign locations. One interesting comment, he specifically talked about expanding DVC to "Walt Disney World and Around the World", with no mention of Anaheim.

Disney is one of the worlds top branchsd they could do all of that sounds good on DCL.

We requested (and got of course) late dining. We definitely prefer it - too rushed if we eat earlier.

Yeah, I am definitely concerned. Not worried, but concerned. We know there will be cancellations -- we had to cancel the 2005 EB repo right before final payment was due because of school conflicts and there will be others who can't afford it or decide not to spend the money. We had a few diehards cancel out on the 10-day holiday cruise very late -- and these were dedicated DISers who had done the previous one, so it will happen.

So, I figure I won't worry about this for a while. I do wonder if paying off the cruise early would be of any benefit -- would they bump people who hadn't paid early before bumping those who had?

We are. Late seating has always worked out best for our family. I don't like to rush, and we tend to eat later anyway ... especially on vacation. I was a little concerned about the 3 hour time zone change, but I'll be doing a fair amount of west coast travel for work between now and then, so I should adjust pretty well. We're also travelling with friends that aren't DISer's ... yet ;) so we give the kids the option to have dinner with us, or go to the club/lab. Most often they choose dinner with us, and then bolt while the adults kind of linger :confused3 Just works for us because we KNOW there's no pulling our kids out of the club/lab until they close for the night

Good morning all! I wont be able to catch up on the posting frenzy to 14000 last night for a while. DS needed to get an appointment today because of a strange rash on his thighs and he woke up this morning with a sore throat that wont let him swallow anything. There goes my plans for the day...including getting my license renewed. At least there is tomorrow. Catch ya'll later!

I hope DS is feeling better. Of course you talking about getting your license renewed had me  and pulling out mine  Guess I've got a few years on you because I still have 3 years left on my DL before renewal.

Is anyone still seated at late dining in this group? Debi

The current manifest has:

Captain's (early) Dining: 164
Late Dining: 110
Wait Listed Early: 84

So currently, there are still 194 in late dining, but 84 trying to move to early.

This is likely to get lost overnight, but I am so excited I had to post. I've been bummed for a few days because my tax refund wasn't come out to nearly what I had expected. I'm doing them online and for some reason the program kept saying I was not eligible for the Child Tax Credit. I knew I was but through their chat and email, I couldn't get any assistance. I was about to do my taxes by hand. But I went question by question one last time. Turns out there was one question that I missed answering about my son. Instead of giving me an error for not answering it, the program just didn't accept him as my dependent. Finally got it to work and my refund is up where it should be. I was afraid I was going to have to cancel my Med Repo or at least drop the DL Paris plans because of this. BIG load off my mind now. :cool1:

:dance3: :dance3:

Those Kid Credits come in handy, don't they :thumbsup2

FAMOUS LAST WORDS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

DO NOT WORRY.

In 2004 for the 2005 repo these posts were going around, I have posted on other threads recently in the main DCL forum.

In 2004 posters said it was overbooked, there will be problems, etc., panic, etc.

Some points to stop people worrying

  1. DCL in common with airlines and other cruises overbook.
  2. This is as statistics show a certain percentage of cruisers will cancel.
  3. There is 18 months before this cruise.
  4. Unfortually people will cancel, illness, cost, change of mind etc.
  5. In 2005 just after 90 day mark there was availability on the Repo on DCL website.
  6. DCL even auctioned a stateroom Cat 9 for their Disney Charity.
  7. I have only read of one overbooking problem.
  8. That was on 2006 Christmas cruise, one couple were contacted in advance, made an offer, and they accepted it.
  9. It was voluntary
  10. DCL are very good at this, but these boards can whip up some concern, do not worry.
  11. I met someone on the last cruise who booked three months in advance.

Ok I have to go to SAMS CLUB for some decadent desserts.. Keep the writings to a minimun... I have minimal time to read these posts. Have a great day everyone.. Stay warm and dray if your in snow and cold country and send sun if your in the SUN BELT area...:wave2:

There were questions on the Panama tolls a day or two bag found this in my DCL stuff.

Hi Debi, There is at least a 100 or so of us.
Paula

Well said ANDREW.. so many people get worried about here-say... you have to wait and see. If Disney said your on .. then I would say your on.. If you have GTY.. than you have that CAT or better.. as fas as room rate.. a lot is to be considered.. the time you called.. the ages of the children, if you got transfers and insurance..

Now Disney has insurance but you can get other insurance for less money or more money for that matter... with other options.. So you cant really go by what people say for face value.. 18 months is a long time.. Heck I have college, braces one shild still in pvt school and a car payment still.. trust me its a loooonnnngggg time away.... PLEASE KEEP ME FOCASED.... ;)
I do believe in MAGIC.. I do believe in MAGIC....
