Is anyone still seated at late dining in this group? We have never done main dining before, not sure how the family feels about it. I did it last year on a business cruise w/o the family, and I always felt so rushed. But it seems like everyone is Main, so maybe I will talk to DH and see if we can switch...Any thoughts:confused3

I guess it depends on the airfare we get depending on how that works out.

Disneyjunkie, I grew up in Bklyn, moved to LI 76 and then here 86.Still miss NY

When the dates of the cruise we released, I checked Jetblue's site. They had one way direct flights from JFK to Long Beach for about $160.00. I figure if I book as soon as Jetblue releases their August 2008 schedule, I should be able to get tickets for about $100.00.(at least I hope it works that way.:wizard: )

I'm trying to decide if I want to stay here or move to Orlando after my son graduates in 2009. When it's freezing, I think about Orlando. On normal days, I think LI, Yonkers or somewhere in NJ or PA.

Go buy today's Wall St. Journal. Disney is mentioned on B1.

Here's what was said about DCL......

"More concrete are plans for the cruise lines. Mr. Rasulo says that business could double in the next few years, with a "few more cruise ships." Disney has been waiting for better contract terms and prices before going ahead with more ships, although it is likely to approve some soon. Disney Cruise Line now accounts for between 5% and 8% of the division's $10 billion annual revenue"

Read into that what you will......

The rest of the article was pretty interesting, too.
Just posted on main cruise board...interesting, does anyone know more?

We're still late and I think we will be keeping it unless my wife commands otherwise. We did early for the first time in December and I didn't like rushing back to change for dinner (we had 5:30! seating and that is much earlier than we dine at home). I also liked going straight from dinner out for a drink after sending the kids to the clubs vs. dinner-then-photos-then-show then feeling tired and wanting to go to bed.

Good evening all. Did some researching to day during lunch about Aruba. Happened to come across a webcam. Took this snap shot for now but everyone should check it out tomorrow when the sun is up.

Looks like they have a pirate pirate: snorkle cruise there as well. We will have to do some more research on that.

Beautiful isn't it? They do have snorkling from a pirate ship. It is at a sunken ship too. I'll have to ask my sister about it as she went there a few months ago. She really loved it!

Good Morning Everyone:surfweb:
Andrew - I am glad your dd is doing well.

Is anyone going out to Ca a couple of days prior to the cruise and do some sightseeing.

Stay warm today!!!

Thank you re DD

Last repo I flew into Las Vegas first, that was great did the grand canyon then flew to Hollywood and did the walk of fame and went by train to Universal city and the theme park there, really enjoyed that, before going to Disneyland and its two parks.

This time due to the length of the holiday and time off work I think I will be cut done to a few days pre stay, I really would like to do San Dieago Zoo beach and Legoland but |I feel I will not have time, so proberly DL again, easy transfers for that one.

This is likely to get lost overnight, but I am so excited I had to post. I've been bummed for a few days because my tax refund wasn't come out to nearly what I had expected. I'm doing them online and for some reason the program kept saying I was not eligible for the Child Tax Credit. I knew I was but through their chat and email, I couldn't get any assistance. I was about to do my taxes by hand. But I went question by question one last time. Turns out there was one question that I missed answering about my son. Instead of giving me an error for not answering it, the program just didn't accept him as my dependent. Finally got it to work and my refund is up where it should be. I was afraid I was going to have to cancel my Med Repo or at least drop the DL Paris plans because of this. BIG load off my mind now. :cool1:

Glad it worked out for you!:thumbsup2

We are still late.. and won't be switching to early; it is just too early for us. And you feel rushed getting back from the excursions and DH loves to snack on the pizza and burgers and ice cream. If he had early he couldn't do that and still eat dinner.. So we will remain LATE..

Good morning all! I wont be able to catch up on the posting frenzy to 14000 last night for a while. DS needed to get an appointment today because of a strange rash on his thighs and he woke up this morning with a sore throat that wont let him swallow anything. There goes my plans for the day...including getting my license renewed. At least there is tomorrow. Catch ya'll later!

 Poor William. Give him lots of love today!:grouphug:

I asked this question a few nights ago and got a big response of late diners.. I am on late.. I feel late is better for us at least so we are not as rushed. I'd rather miss a show than dinner.. thus my need to weight watchers...
And besides. I think if I had to sit during a show at 8-9pm I would be alseep, instead I will be in a dining room full of liveley fun people keeping me laughing and AWAKE.. and of course off to DIVERSION for some ADULT FUN:cool1:

We have done the late on the last 3 cruises and for me it was fine. Normally here at home, we don't go out to eat til 730 and wind up eating around 8is or later. So I was really surprised on the last cruise I got complaints about not being able to eat earlier. I myself don't like to get rushed and since it takes DH soooo long to get ready I would prefer the late. I'm on the WLE and still am not sure what we will do.

Just posted on main cruise board...interesting, does anyone know more?

This is from Miceage. Pretty interesting stuff, including a brief mention of DCL at the bottom. You'll note the lack of details on the Mexican cruises themselves!

Jay Rasulo comments at the 2007 Investors Conference
Jay Rasulo spoke at the Lion King Theater in WDW this evening to a group of Stock Brokers and other invited Investors.

He had 3 major points.

1. Improve Existing Businesses

He stated the Hong Kong Disneyland was moving "More Slowly" than expected, which matches Tom Staggs comment that HKD was "more challenging than we thought" made earlier today.

He mentioned that "Where Dreams Come True" will be a long term marketing idea, and then addressed the current year plan, Year of a Million Dreams where he described the program and mentioned that over 300,000 prizes (he called the dreams) have been rewarded.

2. Tapping into Emerging Markets

Talked about potential growth, especially in the Asian, Eastern Europe and Latin American markets.

3. Establish a Bigger Footprint

This was the most interesting part, because he talked about possible BLUE SKY ideas. Once again, the following plans are NOT concrete and are still just in the discussion stages. Also, these Ideas are worldwide proposals, so they might only be built outside of the USA.

Building Themed Hotels in cities other than those that have Disney Theme Parks, where you would just have a Disney Themed hotel. Good potential for 3rd party Equity funding, and working with third party vendors, similar to the Oriental Land deal.

Opening Downtown Disney Shopping Malls in non-Theme Park cities as a stand alone location. He stated the the Anaheim Downtown Disney location is in the Top 5 California malls based on Sale Revenue per Square foot.

Building stand Alone Disney Water Parks in new cities, maybe Indoor, maybe Outdoor or both.

Building smaller "Niche" theme Parks that are Deeply Immersing, where Disney could have a smaller initial outlay, but be able to charge an All Exclusive Price that would be Many times the current cost of visiting a Disney Theme Parks, either near the existing resorts, or as a Stand Alone park in a new city.

Then he talked about two Existing Businesses that had some BLUE SKY ideas.

The possibility of expanding the Cruise Line, if they can get the right price on building new ships. The West Coast 2008 schedule set a 1st day Booking Record, and that both Repositing Cruise have been Oversold.

And then DVC (Vacation Club), how the investment is low and has brought in Strong Double Digit Profits. They have been tracking the owners that have been trading points for other locations for the possibility of building DVC hotels in popular Foreign locations. One interesting comment, he specifically talked about expanding DVC to "Walt Disney World and Around the World", with no mention of Anaheim.
