I still say we really need a drunk Norrington.....hmm....I'm sure we'll have plenty of drunk pirates aboard....:rotfl: ....just need one with a blue Navy coat

I HAVE to send this post to dh!!!! :rotfl: :rotfl: Believe me I'm sure he will be drinking enough rum & wine for the both of us! :rotfl2:

He spent some time last night (while 16dd, 6dd & myself were at play rehearsals) looking online trying to find the different characters to choose from.....

I got my cordless blender, and at half price on both the blender and shipping thanks to the code Monica posted a while ago. If I can ship it ahead to the port, and ship it home after the cruise, I'll bring it along. Otherwise, it's too big and heavy since it has a rechargable battery. It could make the 2am laundry parties more fun!! (Don't worry Chrissie, I wouldn't really fire up a blender next to somebody's stateroom at 2 am :thumbsup2 )

I miss MR posting here, but I'm sure she wouldn't mind having a back-up blender on deck 7!

I am seriously considering bringing my slushie maker. It's fairly small (think Magic Bullet type appliance).

I just saw some pirate sayings and thought of this thread...

Instant Pirate -- Just add Rum
To Err is Human, To Arrr is Pirate

:lmao: :lmao:

Glad to hear your doing OK in this weather.

The kids all got $10 BAB gift cards in their stockings, so there will definitely be a trip to BAB in their future. I'm hoping that DW can get a Sat off or I can get a Sun off so that we can all go together. I'll let you know and see if we can find a date that works for a mini-meet.

OK, sounds good to me, sn*wing here at the moment, stopped by the house to warm up for a few minutes............:cold:

A couple days ago on our thread anniversary, I was skipping around in some of the earlier posts (trying to find my first!) and one of the things I ran into was the idea of having those plastic, silicone bracelets/wristbands available for all of us. The idea was that it would be easy to identify a DIS prirate even if we didn't have our cruise t-****s on. I think the thought was lime-green for the DIS - maybe with something written on them. The wristband was thought of because you could even wear it to the pool which doesn't work well with a lanyard or pin.

Way back then, someone had volunteered to handle this - but I don't think they are on this thread anymore. Is this something we still want to do? There are several online sources for the wristbands. The pricing seems to run from about $0.65 each for plain ones to around $1.00 or a little over for text engraved into them (plus shipping of course). A couple of the websites are http://www.reminderband.com/products/index.php and http://www.shanrene.com/custom-wristbands.php but there are many more out there. Shipping them to everyone - even just sending them via the mail in an envelope - would probably cost a couple dollars each, a 6x9 envelope costs about 10 cents each.

I guess one concern is that we already are doing the t-****s and ordering/paying/shipping/etc. Is doing another thing of this nature just too much? It would probably work OK if it were done along with the t-**** but that is already a huge job and this shouldn't be added to it. Another option would be that they could be ordered ahead of time, but wouldn't get picked up until on the ship at a DIS meet. The problem with that is that there are always a few who don't pick up their stuff and then someone has to try and get them delivered to them.

ANYWAY - just thought I'd mention it while we still have plenty of time to discuss/think about it and the whole group can have some input into the idea...

Are you and Hazel still planning on coming into Chicago this spring with Angelina!!!:confused3 :confused3

:sad2: Sadly no, we won't be able to make the trip in May, too many other things coming up with the ST high school graduation and her starting Massage Therapy School in September. I can't stretch the $$ far enough right now.........

Mike...love your new sig. Your whole family is adorable!

I was thinking the same thing!! :)

Thanks guys. I love the first one of younger DS "choking" his big brother who is hamming it up!

2008 - and yes we are definitely going on this cruise - so it is time to get my act together, and really start posting on this board (I resolve to make the time) and get to know you all before our TOAL in 8 months.

We have booked the GC from the 14th to the 16th - and now we have booked airfare, so the committment has been made   We had a lot of mileage, so we were able to get all 4 airfares for free (well almost free) by transferring some miles. Instead of paying $2,500, it is only costing us around $400 - so that was a great savings that can be used towards the trip.

Now I am able to get excited - even though I will have to work hard for the next 8 months to get ther - when I get there, it will be WELL WORTH IT!

Now I have some reading to catch up on - feeling kind of like a newbie here - but I will catch back up somehow - talk to you all later.

Debi

Welcome back Debi and congrats on booking the airfare. I had to cancel on the 2005 repo, so I was nervous this time around. When we booked our airfare, it seemed so much more real and definite. It's a great feeling!

Lisa had a contact (i know who it is though;) ) who had gotten them for us last year.

I found these though and kinda like them better even though they aren't dated. People seemed to like these when i brought it up last time.

If we get the bracelets (and I hope we do!) let's try to get them to people before the cruise . . . that way if we see each other in DL before the cruise we can go up and say hi . . . also if I do the thing I mentioned about trying to meet and see Fantasmic with whoever wants to try to come, it will be easier to spot each other when getting places to sit.

All this planning of excursions, onboard activities, t****s, bracelets, etc. is really bringing it home to me. I am going on a Panama Canal Cruise on DCL.:cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

We booked our whole package through a TA, so there hasn't been so much planning on my end and it just hit me when everyone started talking about the 1 year anniversary of the thread that Jan. 31 will be 1 year since we made our reservation. I didn't find the DIS board until February, but have been on ever since.

HEY WE ARE GOING ON A CRUISE IN 7 MONTHS and 2 days.

Those are cool! :thumbsup2 Since they aren't customized, I assume they are cheaper than the ones with your own text.

At least I know where to find you in 4 years!!! :thumbsup2 Florida!!!:cool1: :cool1:

I like these, too.

Here is just a thought.....we could each send a self addressed stamped envelope (I'm thinking a manila envelope folded up inside of a letter-size envelope) along with our payment for these bracelets to whoever is heading this Task Force. That way he or she only has to pop the bracelets back into the envelope and mail them back.

I think Julie is right about getting the bracelets prior to Disneyland. It will be fun to spot each other there as well.

I vote for these too. I like Deena's idea of self-addressed stamped envelops. :thumbsup2 I see that they have 3147 available and orders over 240 are only $0.30 each.

We did this with lanyards once before and it worked great. The person heading up the task weight everything and figured what postage would be. The people buying the lanyard send an envelope with payment and return postage and a label inside. The person heading up the task put the label and new postage on and then shipped it back.

Summer is not too bad for me so if no one has offered to head this up, I'm willing (as long as I don't need to do anything until the end of Feburary :lmao: ).

Well Pirates, so much for my hope of 2008 being better than 2007. DS is in the hospital again for his depression. I really don't know how much more of this I can take. Please pray for us.

You and your son are in my prayers. :grouphug:

Day three of ketchup. That's what I get for not doing my DISing when I was supposed to.

On the good news front, I got my dining switched to Captain's. Thank-you to Roger. :worship: You're right, being on East Coast time, second dining would have been like eating at 11:00 pm. :scared1: I think we're going to be very happy with the earlier dining.

Still wasn't able to upgrade from cat 8 to cat 6. TA said she still had a waiting list of clients she was trying to get on board. With such great advice around here, I think I'll do what Andrew suggested & wait until closer to the 90 day mark.

:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

I have one of those! DS8 is always sorting, straightening, organizing at school, stores, friends homes, etc. - BUT almost never his own stuff!! :confused3 :rotfl: He does tend to line his stuff up in perfectly straight rows when he does pick up, but most of the time he leaves things a mess. I think it is actually related to the perfectionism - if he can't make it perfectly organized, he isn't going to do it at all...

I also have a standing list - actually there are two versions "WDW" and "Cruise". We found out about the TOAL on our last cruise (The itinerary was announced while we were onboard the Magic) and as we were packing up to go home, DH & I were saying that if we could just bring ourselves to pack for a 7-Night cruise it would be about right for a 15 day cruise! I am going to try VERY, VERY hard to remember that when it comes time to pack! :thumbsup2

Pamela (pdarrah)

You are all going to make me start my list aren't you!!!!!!!!!!!

evil just evil i say!

Chrissie

Anyone in interested in sharing packing lists? Can we send attachments through the PM on the boards?

I'm a very, very light packer. But, I've never done 15 nights and I've never known so many people before going on a vacation. Never done the fish extender, etc, etc.

how is your mac? you see them comercials that say they are better? my desktop computer might be on its last legs i was thinking about a mac.

LOVE MY MAC ...I cant even begin to explain , I have been waiting to convert for awhile and I am so happy we finally did ...Im still learning but its getting easier by the day , and more simple too ...We kinda splurged since it was the end of the year and we changed our whole office so I got the 24 Imac My sweet Melissa got the 20 Imac and we also got the macbook so we would have a laptop when we travel ...so if you have any questions I will try my best to answer what I can , as I am still learning all the cool and easy things you can do with a mac ...

pirate:

I got a mac a little over a year ago. Two of my brothers, who are "mac guys" didn't think I would like it. (some mac people are snobs ;) ) I absolutely love it. It is very easy to use & very intuitive with software. My kids love it too. It has cool programs like garage band & photobooth.
