Ok, Tom- Put me on the list to pay or contribute my gallions. I felt like I have gotten priceless info and experiences already so happy to do what I can.

I followed Tom's link to the website above and finally did my pirate name:Captain Morgan Kidd. I like that! Very catchy! :thumbsup2

Even pirates can be lawyers - who knew?? :confused3
:rotfl:

Crew - I'm going to be spending more time offline planning our 5-week camping trip. I know how much you enjoy the Pirate Joke of the Day. If someone who's going to be a bit more regular wants to take over from me - please PM me. I feel bad about missing it some days.

What's a pirate lawyer's favorite court proceeding?

Arrrgh-raignment!

Arlene I thought that we discussed this way back when. Someone would setup a premium account ($25/yr) which could hold 5Gb (50,000photos) and then circulate the the username and password. If we get $1/each from 25 or $0.50/each from 50 would cover the cost. We could then setup directories for each day/event so that they would be somewhat organized.

Thanks Roger, I did remember this discussion. I thought it would be a better idea.

:sad2: Sadly no, we won't be able to make the trip in May, too many other things coming up with the ST high school graduation and her starting Massage Therapy School in September. I can't stretch the $$ far enough right now.........

Boy do I need a massage now.

I got a mac a little over a year ago. Two of my brothers, who are "mac guys" didn't think I would like it. (some mac people are snobs ;) ) I absolutely love it. It is very easy to use & very intuitive with software. My kids love it too. It has cool programs like garage band & photobooth.

Garage band was the first program My DDs DH saw when she got hers. She had to wrestle the computer away from him he was so addicted to it.

The bracelets seem like a good idea.

Hello neighbors...

... just sort of beginning to get caught up... an' I have so many chores still left undone. Since geting better, catching up on a month of backlogged business and business crisis events, plus being now 98% recovered from my flu... and the daughter is now clear of her illness (72 hour viral), and ... and ... and ... well, it's just been a lot of reular stuff that's had me totally overloaded with CATCH UP. Now I'm turning my attention to the TOAL thread to try and catch up a little. I've only read back as far as page 5741 - and that will have to do tonight.

At any rate - I notied I still have to mail a check and some boxes - some of ya know what I'm talking about. And if we have not had a declaration of who is whos' Secret Mickey/Minnie/Santa ... then I'd like to propose we conduct a grand unveiling at this Fridays' chat. Only thing is I don't know if TIna will be on... and she has half the list. So I'll try to PM and confirm... otherwise we'll conduct it the following week ... or maybe just post a list in the "open" here.

Aside from that... I've run across a few postings which I've quoted below as I listen to the CDs I just ripped tonite... (something old and new) Simeon and Garfunkle's greatest and a new Queen Lahtifya CD.

I am trying to find out if there is any interest in putting together a CD photo (sort of our own PhotoPass CD) of pictures on this cruise. I would put together the CD is there is enough interest. I see it being general interest pictures - the ship, the ports, characters, events, etc. This way I can tap into those that are more skilled photographers than I am (which is just about anybody - my method is to take lots of pictures and hope some of them are good).

I would have everyone interested email me their best pictures after the cruise and I will put together the CD. I don't think it should cost more than a couple of dollars each for mailing, etc.

I am a scrapbooker so I am always looking for more pictures. Let me know what you think.

Great IDEA Terri! However... how shall we proceed? I could offer to set up a series of upload albums which would be password protected and closed to the public. I could allow you access to my account for pick and choose - and downloading. However, I would be reluctant to allow general public access. Doing so would involve zero cost to everyone to contribute images. Here's a test album I set up for uploading only... itcurrently has ONE image which I uploaded. Does anyone want to try iuploading? If so ... then pay attention to activiate the UPLOAD TOOL so you can select images in mass to manipulate and up-load. And, of course, for testing purposes you need not upload in mass - only activate the tool to see how it works for you. Here is the link to the test album... ttp://www.dotphoto.com/Go.asp?l=nma4cnc&P=TOAL&AID=5070349&T=1

That would be a great idea!!!:yay: We swapped CD's on the last cruise and it it expensive to mail a CD with the special sleeve!!;) Do you think we have to limit CRASH??:confused3

Bah! yer gonna threaten ta LIMIT my photo snappin' eh, Cheryl? Bah!

Is there a way to set up an account on like Photobucket where we can all have access to all the photos and are able to download what we want? Where is Crash when I need a question answered? :lmao:

Well.... Although this would be OK to UPload to ... I think for many of us to DOWNLOAD pictures in MASS would be pretty clumbersome. Even with a high speed line I've found the download rates to be maddening when dealing with more then a few hundred... let alone the 1000s I would expect from a dozen or more contributors from among the 500 or so neighbors gathered.

That said... this is a BIG PROJECT ... one worthy of not a CD for reproduction and sharing... rather I would expect a DVD to be needed - depending on how agressively we cull images for general circulation.

I think it would be best to offer a CD or DVD after Terri chops and edits it. And if the job is too big to manage Terri I would be happy to help with some of the load. I would have no problem sharing - burning and sending out. It would help if we had Self addressed mailers from those interested in receiving a DVD though. I need nothing for materials. And I know... there are still a few folks waiting for a CD or DVD from me now.... Lil' G and Tracy... I have not forgotten. I've just been off balance and shall get to it soon. Those images from the 11 niter need a look before I brun and circulate - and I had a hard drive problem which I resolved a couple months back.

At any rate... if I set up an album... I can set up sub albums for each day of the cruise for folks to upload to. My account is a "resellers" account with NO SPECIFIED storage limit. IE, I have unlimited capacity at the site - however, in thoery I could be asked to limit my use of capacity someday.

OK....

As previously stated... I have an account with unlimited capaicity... however, as a group we need to decide how we want to use this community photo site. My current impression was that Terri would collect and cull images from all contributors - then offer a DVD or CD for folks. I would be happy to assist if necessary. I recommend we have folks interested in receiving a DVD or CD - submit SASE mailers. The post office has free Priority mail packages for free - just add postage. This sounds perfect and is the step I would find burdonsome. Selecting and buring to CD or DVD is not a problem for me - and I would be OK to donate the media and time. Or Terri, if you feel we should charge a token fee for materials that's fine too.... i figure each DVD is perhaps $0.25? I dunno anymore... I got a couple DVDR spindles for near nothing - so I could handle 50 or 100 easy. WOW.... what am I saying.... to burn 50 DVDs would take a while... whew!

I've posted bits of this before... when I was 17 my 9 year old brother died unexpectedly. He had recently been diagnosed with cancer. But, he died in the OR during a biopsy. He was the twin of my brother who is coming on the cruise with us.

There were so many well meaning people who told me he wouldn't die. They just really were trying to be comforting. But, it really made me mad after the fact. That has always stuck with me. As a result, I have never uttered those words to anyone.

My kids have experienced the deaths of older relatives, and a few years ago the death of a 5 year old cousin. I've tried to be honest with them. We really don't know why people die when they do, we just know that everyone dies. After my mother died, they wanted to be reassured that I wasn't going to die any time soon. And, based on my younger experiences, I just couldn't bring myself to tell them that I wasn't going to die. So I told them that I wasn't planning on it. It might be semantics but for me it felt honest.

I think my kids just wanted to ask questions. I think they are more afraid of the unknown. So I let them ask what ever they want And, when I don't know the answer I tell them I don't know & I ask them what they think.

Sorry for the long post. I really feel for you. Those are my experiences, for what they're worth
.

I read this posting and the quoted posting preceeding it... and was left in deep reflection on the subject. In recent years I've found myself revisiting this general topic in varying intensity and perspective. Rather then say more - I wanted to simply thank you for sharing your thoughts. It's really a difficult yet compelling topic. I may have more to say later .... but at this hour and my current frame of mind... this will have to do. Thanks for sharing your thoughts on the matter.

Here is the list I have so far. I have kept a separate list so I hope that it is accurate. I have a total of 54 pirates. Remember that their big boat holds 64 so we still have room for 10 more pirates. Anyone that is booked that I have not accouted for please let me know.

MAN! I know I've already PM'd Roger that we won't be going on acccount of prior plans with another family (maybe two) whom we're scheduled to travel with on that weekend. However, that said - the plans remain a bit soft and this weekend I might be able to reshuffle that weekend - and maybe we'll try to show up. So after this weekend we might have a request to attend - space permitting.

Wow - a DIS food fight - that would be spectacular! :rotfl2:

BUT, since we have a split with Early and Late dining, it is more likely to be something like 250 each or maybe 300/200 if a few more have early than late. Wouldn't you think a dining room can handle at least 300? If the ship can handle about 2400 guests and they are split evenly between the 2 dining times, that is 1200 per dining time. With 3 dining rooms, that should be about 400 per room.

Pamela (pdarrah)

I volunteer... to lead the Task Force on staging the 1st DIS "Delinquents" FOOD Fight at Sea! Anyone care to "2nd" my self nomination?

.........Good Morning Folks, running late here this morning, didn't get to sleep until after 1am, a lot on my mind and had trouble falling asleep.

Gotta run and get my day underway..............

Good morning everyone

Is anyone interested in a book exchange on board the ship?
Say if someone is done with their book they can exchange it with someone else that is done with theirs. Thought it would be a good way to limit how many books people have to pack, for those of us that are readers on vacation

Jo

sorry double post

It's nice to have you back, Crash -- I hope you are able to come to the Jolly Pirates . . . don't wait too long or we may have too many pirates for one ship . . .pirate:

Crash, I went to the photo site. Please advise me on what to do next? Do I need to enroll or what? Didn't see any upload tool. :confused3

Jo, that's a great idea -- someone did this on the Med repo this past summer. The person in charge just hung a tote bag on her fish extender and people could stop by and leave and pick up paperbacks anytime (theoretically we aren't doing this with any heavier books we really care about!).:thumbsup2

Guess I just volunteered myself for this :cool2:
Having one place to go should work well as people don't have to coordinate a time to swap books

Thanks Julie
