It's really kind of sad that I've been to the UK many times and never made it to London to do the touristy stuff. Last time was Ipswich and spent the whole bloody week in Adastral Park, before that trips to (ugh) Basingstoke and before that Swindon.

We're really trying to make it there next summer.

Can't comment on Ipswitch, but Basingstoke is ot that far & not a place I like as I always get lost! Once I had to visit some-one there & ended up ringing them as I was so lost & they came & retireieved me from a local hostelry! As for Swindon - nasty one way systems & roundabouts where your heart lives in your mouth, you close your eyes & hope you make the other side! Definitely not high on my tourist recommendation lists!!!

On a good day I am 20 mins from Central London, on a normal day about 30 mins, and on a BAD Monday about 2 hours from London!

I have a number of alternatives from here from suburban overhead rail to the Tube, best not to drive due to congestion charges.

Fast train to Paddington 30 mins, chug chug to Waterloo 90 mins, car - lick your finger stick it in the air & pick a number!!! Cheapest way (even with congestion charging) is car as peak return to Paddington with travel card is £33-30:eek: Of course, that is assuming you have some-where to park. DH works central London so commutes by motorbike. The dealearship he bought from was right by Reading station & had a great big advert which guaranteed you a seat to London for the same monthly price as the railway season ticket:rotfl2:

1) Who doesn’t love the cute, fuzzy musk ox?
b) I didn’t say I want to marry ‘em or anything.
3) I said your loins, not mine! (Come on, "Girt your loins". That was funny ifIdosaysomyself)
d) What, nobody cares about my dog’s butt? I thought we were getting to know each other.

Nice Tom. Real nice.

That was one of those that when I went to comment on one of the replies, and the system dropped out all the other stuff... was just too easy...

Plus we all do realize that you and your family know your dog's butt very well since whenever you go for a walk (or do you call it a drag?) he pulls away....

:lmao:

Not trying to make you jealous! I'm bouncing off the walls! :jumping1: Well, not really, just inside. Only 5 more housrs left, not that i'm counting! :rolleyes1

This will have to do until next May. The one thing I really look forward to is we get the week between Christmas and News Years off. After that it's the long haul till May.

Least this time our flight leaves at 8:30 am so I don't have to get up in the middle of the night!

Hi gang.....just checking in. Seems I've fallen behind again. I've had a couple of small set-backs and haven't been at the computer.

I hope I haven't missed any birthdays.

And I REALLY hope that all of our California friends are out of harm's way.

Sending prayers for that, and to all who need them!!

In London there is an extra Charge for driving in central London each day, I think its now £8 per day, you have to pay it on-line or in shops camera's take pictures of all car registration number plates as you drive into the area and if you haven't paid you will have a fine.

It trys to stop private drivers going with cars into London and pays in part to public transport. It runs Monday to Friday 8am to 6.30pm

Wish I had time to ketchup............My Dr. is getting me today ( 1 hour ) I have started to feel better but now have a problem with left ear. I have never had an ear infection but think that's what it is?:confused3 My left ear hurts so bad. can't move my head side to side or open my mouth without hurting. I have my interview tomorrow morning, painters coming in afternoon to fix something.

Dante was suppose to be a prince :( My Mom made the cutest crown but no matter what I tried couldn't make costume work. So I bought a costume yesterday and he was a lady bug. The pic. is bad, sorry. He didn't win but that's o.k we had fun.

Take it Easy Stace.

Everything takes a little time... be patient and work to nurture a positive attitude while we wait for things to get better. I know... it's easy fer me ta say so - but maybe it will help, eh?

Wow! I just looked at a map and the San Diego fire evacutations have are within about 1/2 mile of my old house. Firefighters are trying to keep the Harris fire from going up and over a mountain - if it does, my old neighborhood is next.
exodus.jpg

It's sad - I know. I was reading about how folks were holding up in hotels and renting space at time share resorts in some cases. Not exactly a case of the displaced sleeping on cots - though many obviously are on cots. This is the largest evacuation in California since 1917. Which raises the question ... what happened in 1917 out here that would trigger a million person evacuation? So, For whatever reason the California fires that destroied 4600 homes from 4 years ago did not get as much attention from Alicia and I. At any rate, from what I've heard from friends and such - folks we know of have left San Diego for a few days to spend with relatives or friends out of the area or state.

Oh well... so much fer my illogical ramblin'...

TTFN..

Tina - I think you're goin' to WDW tomorrow - but if it's today then maybe you'll see this when you git back - but a GIRT is ..... what these red arrows are pointing to:

I see. Thanks. For safety purposes, please do not send me these in the mail.:lmao: My postal carrier would not like it. He has been out because of a bad knee and the subs can't even shut my mailbox! Shutter to think what they would do with one of these?:confused3 :scared1:

Tom, no flying buttresses?

Thought all you pirates would get a kick out of this story:

MISSING:

one "beat up" fake parrot
red head, green tail, looks like macaw
answers to the name "Parlay"

if found, please return to Red Sox bullpen
no questions asked

The Pirates of the Black Pearl (a.k.a. the crazy members of the Red Sox bullpen) are in dire straits- because it seems that some unknown person crept into the 'pen under cover of the AL Pennant celebrations, and parrot-napped the Pirates' mascot... a stuffed parrot they've named Parlay.

pirateflag.jpg

Problem is, according to Mike Timlin (whose wife bought the parrot for the bullpen about four months ago), Parlay the parrot isn't just a mascot for the 'Pen Pirates- he's also a particular good luck charm for Hideki Okajima. And the bullpen guys aren't kidding when they say- they really, REALLY want the parrot back. No questions asked, just return the bird to the pirate ship, and all will be well with the 'Pen Pirates once more.

Why in the world a Sox fan would ever sneak into the bullpen and take a ratty old parrot (that clearly held some major sentimental value) is beyond me. What's next- is someone going to steal the pirate flag from the bullpen wall? The empty water bottles from the hands of Manny Delcarmen? The pistol from out of Jonathan Papelbon's locker? (no really: he has a pirate pistol displayed up next to his locker)

BRING BACK PARLAY THE PARROT!

Update, 12:00 am: The culprits have returned Parlay- he is now back safe and sound with the 'Pen Pirates. Breathe easy, Okajimer. WBZ interviewed the two guys who returned the parrot back to Fenway late tonight, Northeastern students who claimed they woke up this morning with the parrot in their freezer (no, really) and that they have no idea who put it there (seriously). You can tell the reporter thinks they are lying, but he's forced to reward them with two World Series tickets anyway (I know!) because he promised to.

Sorry to all the Indians fans! I'm glad we won, but I hate to see anyone lose. Especially when the Indians were doing so good & got so close! Been there many many times. :sad2:

On that note I have to say we are very lucky this year with the Red Sox & the Patriots doing so well. It's a banner year for New England fans & I just hope it continues.
