Well, since it is still a very sticky 76* (83* in the house) here at 10:15pm, and my lovely bride is having hot flashes, it's time to turn the AC back on for the night. Gotta keep the lady of the house comfortable...............;)

Makes my life better at home as well............

That is one of the important things to learn.......................keeping the Lady of the house comfortable:goodvibes

Actually, my parents live in NY. My Mom was updating me on my "little" sister's situation in San Diego. My Sis, her DH and DS5 did have to evacuate yesterday, but were able to return to their house today (everything still in one piece-Thank God:cloud9: ). Anyway, the air quality is so bad that they have to go stay in one of the DL hotels for a few days:goodvibes My nephew must be having a ball:rolleyes:
I didn't want to call her during the whole thing because I figured she was busy packing up her cars and wouldn't appreciate any unnecessary phone calls.

That is great news about your sister's home. And I hope you nephew (and family) are having a wonderful time at DL:goodvibes

You know... Keeping a newsletter archive on the website might not be a bad idea for the folks who join us later. Besides, they're so lovely - they should be kept. Just a thought.

Done. Someone check links to make sure they work (on main page)

OFFICIAL INVITATION to ALL DIS NEIGHBORS to join in...

the

1st UNOFFICIAL Pre-Cruise Secret Mickey Exchange!

Downrivermama (Tina) and I are hosting this FUN little diversion. Please PM one of us with your responses to the 20questions below to particiapte. The deadline to join in shall be OCTOBER 31st - midnite. You shall receive info with your SM beneficiary in the first few days of November. Please note - if your DIS screen name begins with A-M... PM ME.... If your screen name is N-Z then PM Tina at Downrivermama... as we are dividing the work load and logistics so we can participate as well.

This is proposed as a simple FUN game in a familiar vein. Would you like to particiapte in a secret gift exchange and guessing game of sorts? All who particiapte shall be secretly matched up to two DIS neighbors whom they shall either send to or recieve potentially taunting, provocative, thoughtful and/or otherwise curiously meaningful token gifts. The DIS neighbor sending to you is a SECRET MICKEY benefactor for YOU. And YOU in turn shall serve as a SECRET MICKEY benefactor for someone else!

The exchange shall occur TWICE for this game : once on or about Thanksgiving week.... and again at or about the time of Christmas/New Years' Week. The total value of these two items is suggested to be no less than about $25. And the upper limit shall be no more than $100,000. Anyone sending significantly less than $25 in items shall risk endless taunting from your on-line neighbors here <chuckles>.

To help CONCEAL the MYSTERIOUS origin of some Secret Mickey Gifts - TINA and I offer the option of TRANS-SHIPPING your gifts if postage is furnished. IE... ship your girt to us and we will reship it from where we are so your recipient cannot possibly know where it came from. If postage is NOT furnished - then we reserve the right to have a few items dissappear into the DIS abyss (chuckles- we'll bill for deficient postage)

The fun (in part) comes from sending your beneficiary fun and entertaining tokens of appreciation - you are asked to send items to arrive on the two weeks we have selected - however, some of you may choose to exercise a little creativity in pursuit of fun and games.

To sign up, please cut and paste (or quote + copy) these TWENTY questions into a PM for either myself or Downrivermama (Tina)
We will collect them all, match folks randomly, and then give out SM buddy info after October 31st.
.

Please be as specific as possible in your answers. This will help your Secret Mickey buddy get you the things that you want and/ or use. Please no YES or No answers. These types of answers make it really hard on your buddy. You are free to volunteer extra info if desired. PLUS more than one member of your family may participate if desired.

This sounds like way to much fun!

OK, lets see if I have done this right......

12,000 posts!

Congrats on post 12,000 th

And my husband thinks I spend too much time on the computer......;)

Cheryl, I can't tell for sure, but it looks like she has your eyes princess:
The best kind of fun is usually the silly kind:thumbsup2
Looks like you had a blast:goodvibes

Yes Laurie....there is nothing like an old fool when it comes to having fun!!!:lmao: :lmao: (not that I am old) Just ask about my stage debut on the last cruise.:lmao: :lmao:

My DGD is as pretty inside as she is outside. princess: So not to hurt anyone's feelings...... she even pretended to like all the clothes she got for her birthday.

I've been reading on the DVC members cruise thread. Sounds like they are having a great time and their entertainment sounds wonderful--the Disney Legends. Makes me a little sad, I was booked for this one and moved my payments to this repo.:upsidedow

(Come on August can ya get here a little quicker?)

Paula but their trip is NOT the TOAL. I think you made the wise choice to be with all of us!!!  :flower3: :flower3:

To be quite honest Tom, I have been booked and paid in full on 2 DVC member cruises and cancelled both of them for one reason or another. The one they are on now is a 4 nighter. They always seems to do really nice things for the members----but they also do really NICE things for the repos. The cost of the member cruise (for 2) was 1/2 of the repo (for 3 of course our cabin category is lower) and for 11 additional nights it was a no brainer. I waited several weeks after booking this one to cancel. Just one of the downfalls of so many of us----limited time off away from work.

And it's not like I HAVEN'T taken some truly wonderful vacations this year:rolleyes1 and 2008 promises to be just as great:banana:
especially this here pirate: repossession:)

Yanno... I understand entirely now. And might I add - Alicia gets ANTSY if she goes without time off after a while. I think shes' a little spoiled as she has (gulp) effectively 6 weeks vacation. Of course, as a semi-self-employed SAHD I am mentally on vacation and "out to lunch" 360 days a year. My daily tension is a different kind of tension.

Aside from that - as I wuz saying - Alicia gets antsy every now and then. AND - don't you have a trip to Costa Rica set for ... January is it? I assume that's January of 2008? Gee wiz... Alicia and I've NEVER been to Costa Rica before. <drawing slow circles with my right foot while staring towards the ground> But then again - I know what it' like to run a business that stays open 365 days a year. HOWEVER ... I don't know what it's like to have a business that stays open 24 hours a day! THAT is a lot of work and huge responsibility. If ya work twice as hard and twice as many hours then ya NEED to take off some time every now and then (if possible).

May I suggest ya schedule a quick little escape to get the fog outta yer head? Dissappear for a nite somewhere ya haven't been in a while. Do something ya haven't done in a spell and maybe you'll clear the ho - hums. My parents used to like dining out - and we'd go to some interesting places for dinner when my mom was "tired" or needed "refreshing". They actually never traveled anywhere except to China and Hong Kong for buying trips. SO ... we ate whatever and whenever every now and then. Among other things.

I'm not certain if I've touched upon the right "chord" with ya - but ifnot then maybe I'm not too far off the "note" you're feeling tonite.

Respectfully,

Tom

This sounds like way to much fun!

If ya think this SOUNDS like fun ... wait until your secret Mickey creates an playful alternate "Twin identity" for the exclusive purpose of taunting you! Not that your so called "benefactor" will do any such thing. As if "I" would stoop so low to have some chuckles and snickering by doing so!

Ahem...

Tom, there remains the matter of my terms of usage contract if you're gonna post this to the web site. <chuckles>

Customary compensation is a Mickey Bar or two fer usage of this intellectual concept on any other site then right here!

:lmao:

Hey I think you hit the nail on the head.:goodvibes
I am sending you a pm:)

Congrats Andrew!!! :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2 :thumbsup2
Thank you
Yes, now if we can get DCL to have the same interest we will be set!
Maybe, but maybe not.
Hope the blood condition is not serious and easily controllable . . . medication side effects can be difficult to live with, though. Take care of yourself.
Thank you
It's really kind of sad that I've been to the UK many times and never made it to London to do the touristy stuff. Last time was Ipswich and spent the whole bloody week in Adastral Park, before that trips to (ugh) Basingstoke and before that Swindon.

We're really trying to make it there next summer.
London is really great worth at least a week.

schedulereview13.jpg

Well...

..technically speaking. Andrew's daily average according to the profile is 9.07 posts per day. SO... since we have 320 days (roughly) til embarkation - then we should see an additional 2,902 postings to add to the 12,014 presently shown.

Therefore, I bet 15,000 is a conservative expectation in Andrews' case.
Well first varible is the use of multi quotes, the second is my involvement in the UK Dis Doctor Who thread currently off air, after a Christmas specail its back in the Spring for 13 weeks and my post count will increase.
Andrew 12,000 SHOULD SEEM LIKE A LOT!!!:cool1:
Yes
Crash, if you win the estimate, you get a mickey bar! The only problem being that Andrew could choose to speed up or slow down his rate of posting to manipulate the results . . . and of course he would!

Would I do that?:rotfl2:

PS I want a Mickey bar with 15,000 sprinkles.

Now taken out of context, this is just way too much info!!!:lmao:

1) Who doesn’t love the cute, fuzzy musk ox?
b) I didn’t say I want to marry ‘em or anything.
3) I said your loins, not mine! (Come on, "Girt your loins". That was funny ifIdosaysomyself)
d) What, nobody cares about my dog’s butt? I thought we were getting to know each other.

Nice Tom. Real nice.

Wow! I just looked at a map and the San Diego fire evacutations have are within about 1/2 mile of my old house. Firefighters are trying to keep the Harris fire from going up and over a mountain - if it does, my old neighborhood is next.
