Hello everyone!pirate:

I'd like to start thinking about another meet this August. We will be there for 10 days from the 20-30 of August. Preliminary dates would be Friday Aug. 24 or Sat. Aug. 25, at the Wilderness Lodge or Beach Club near their DVC Pools.

Let me know what you think?

Good to be back home hope everyone is well!

:)

We're there Aug 19 - 28! Staying at OKW - so we could do it there again at the BBQ's if you want. We'd prefer the Friday date as we have dinner plans for Saturday. See you there!!

Hi guys!!! Just checking in. I think I posted last week that we were buying a Boxer puppy(?) :sad2: Anyways, after doing a bit of research, with much advice from a "Boxer Board",we came to the conclusion that this was actually a Puppy Mill!
So,with a lot of soul searching and discussion, we decided to Not bring this particular puppy into our lives. We have to forfeit our $150. deposit, but that's better than paying for him and then having a mess of medical bills later on down the road. So, now my search begins again. Does anybody happen to know of any Reputable breeders in the state of Oklahoma. Would also consider Texas,Missouri or Arkansas. As long as it isn't a 600 mile trip one way!

You did the right thing. I won't add to the already excellent advice you've received about contacting Boxer rescue or the National club.

i did end up calling the lady yesterday...and it was the most nerve wracking call i've made! i hate confrontations...i'm not good with them at all...but i didn't want to sound foolish. i think the call went ok, and i told her my feelings. she did end up saying that she is going to leave teh dog home from now on...we'll see on tues if she is lying or not. her salon is right next door to my dd's dance studio....so i will see if the dog is in the window or not. i'm glad i finally made the calls, cuz i just kept thinking of the "what if's"...our situation could have ended so differently! it's a very scary thought!

Good for you!!! :thumbsup2

Based on your story, I'm betting this was a small dog - Jack Russell sized? (About 15 pounds?) That's the size where most owners just let them do whatever they want - it's easier to simply pick the dog up and move it than actually invest the time into training it. Which, is what leads to experiences like you had.

Let's hope that this lady has learned a lesson.

Hi pirate:s

I survived! The kids all had a blast! I had a great time too. I cooked for 100 people all weekend in a commercial kitchen. My chef parter is also a big foodie, so we made a lot of stuff up as we went along. How many Cub Scout gatherings have homemade ceasar salad with homemade croutons, spaghetti w/marinara & meat sauce (not from a jar), sauted spinach, normandy vegetables, and pound cake with macerated strawberries and chocolate drizzle? THEN we made breakfast & lunch today! It was all good. We really went to town. I love cooking, so it was more fun for me than building robots (which is what the kids & other parents did).

Can we join your pack?? Yum!!

For those wondering... Jakob won his Novice Juniors class at the dog show today. It's his third Novice win, so he'll have to move into Open competition now. It was quite the birthday present!! Though we've seen the last of his winning days for a while - probably a year or so. Competition in the Open classes is TOUGH!!

We also had a lovely time down at Monterey Bay Aquarium for the rest of this birthday trip. Didn't get back till 9pm. Time for bed!!

As you can tell from my birthday post...we will not be here all week! DH (Mike) is out of the hospital. All tests came back fine & he is only required to take a baby aspirin a day. He keeps yelling at me to stop treating him like an invalid. He wants to hit the road & try to get beyond NJ before the storms start to hit. I thank you all for your kind words & support! Have a great week everyone!!! :grouphug:

:goodvibes Yay! Glad he's doing well and you're on your way! Have a safe trip!

Puxatawany Phil is only about a hour or so due south of us down rt. 219 as far as i can remember hunting season is year round on ground hogs

Since I am now working the (unscheduled) midnight shift after spending the day bailing a friends basement out all due to this miserable weather... I'm all for groundhog season....

Gotta finish my taxes, I'll be back later. HHmmmm, what type of wine do you think goes with ketchup?

Guess we know who will be cooking for all the deck 7 parties...

Oh I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for your kind words about my vacation photos. You are feeding my habit - for vacations & photos!!!

You should put them to music and burn to dvd, then you can share with people whereever you go (that's about as organized as I get with my 20,000,000 per trip photos)

Then I am happy and sad for him. Seriously, way to go Jakob!!

I think DCL wil have the whole food thing covered.
They even have :cake:.
I checked.

I just stumbled onto this site. I can't believe how long it is. DH and I and our youngest DD are booked on this repo cruise and are so excited. There are alot of Jersey posters on this thread. DH and I moved to Central Florida (The Villages) from Gloucester County almost three years ago. The kids are still up North in PA (just across the river). We do not miss the snow or ice. I was up in PA for snow this past February. It was nice to sit inside and look out and just enjoy it.

I know what you're talking about working in the weather (oh and also about the knees). DH spent 32 years working in the gas department of PECO. He's already had surgery on both knees. The weather just makes your jobs harder. I didn't see him for seven days during the blizzard of -- oh, I can't remember what year that was. I lost track of the number of ice storms he was MIA for. He works retail now and that is not much better on the knees.

But before we can concentrate on this cruise we get to enjoy the Magic in two weeks. The whole family (DH and I, two DD's, one SIL and two of the greatest grandkids in the world) are counting the hours till our 4/28 Eastern. This will be our fourth DCL cruise. Once we get back we will be able to begin that countdown for the repo. But, I have to do it quietly because our oldest DD pouts everytime we mention it. It won't be quite the same without the grandkids but there is no way she can miss the start of school year. The grandkids (they are 2 and 4 now) can miss but they frown on the teacher not showing up for the first week. She is taking a sabbatical in 2010 so she is hoping they run another Canal Repo that August. That one will have the whole clan of us aboard.

All day I have been meaning to start getting ready for our cruise but it was such a beautiful day here - 88 and sunny - I spent the afternoon out in my golf cart. Then I planned on just checking in for a "few minutes" on the boards and now here it is three hours later. I better search my computer for my packing list and begin working on it. When I get back I don't know how many pages I will find here. It will take me months to check it all out.

Barbara

Welcome aboard!!!!

DW is a native Delawarean and we still have family/friends up in PA and NJ (Palmyra and Montclair).

Have fun on your trip! An color me jealous that we're not going :teeth:

So Tom, are you treading water?
