And you know what else??? It was freakin' expensive!! Exactly $300 for the three of us...that's with one person with a 5 year passport under age 15 (but includes the pics) :scared1: :scared1: :scared1:

I liked it with my plain old birth certificate and D/L thank you very much!

That is why I am putting getting them until after it turns 2008. I want the kid's PPs to be valid as long as possible since really ours will only be good for 5 years just like theirs. I wont get theirs again until we have a trip with a reason to use them.

Oh No Monica I hope what they told you is wrong. They told me 10 weeks. I have 18 weeks until my Aug cruise and although I don't need the passports for that cruise they took our Birth Certificates to process the passports. Right now I couldn't get onto any cruise ship! Well I guess order another copy of our birth certificates if it comes to that. 4-5 months seems like forever.

Listen guys, for those of you who haven't gotten there passports for the TOAL yet.....I think you'd better go soon!

I have to renew mine and Rich has to start from scratch. I remember when I applied for mine, a few peopleI knew, working for ATT had to go overseas asap., and they drove down to Miami to get them within the same day. Since he wants to drive down to Ft Lauderdale and visit his parents graves,, I'm going to look into the Miami connection. Might as well!

Hi pirate:s

I survived! The kids all had a blast! I had a great time too. I cooked for 100 people all weekend in a commercial kitchen. My chef parter is also a big foodie, so we made a lot of stuff up as we went along. How many Cub Scout gatherings have homemade ceasar salad with homemade croutons, spaghetti w/marinara & meat sauce (not from a jar), sauted spinach, normandy vegetables, and pound cake with macerated strawberries and chocolate drizzle? THEN we made breakfast & lunch today! It was all good. We really went to town. I love cooking, so it was more fun for me than building robots (which is what the kids & other parents did).

Gotta finish my taxes, I'll be back later. HHmmmm, what type of wine do you think goes with ketchup?

Sounds like you had fun M!:goodvibes

Oh I just wanted to say thanks to everyone for your kind words about my vacation photos. You are feeding my habit - for vacations & photos!!!

Your Soooooo Right about work the 1st week back............Then I have to travel soon.......... Maybe I could hide out in Judy's Backyard ????? Naw......probably not LOL !!!

Mark

Mark you can hide out anytime you want. Maybe Laura would let you be the cabana boy:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Okay maybe not.......how about a golf ball retriever for all of the bad golfers that land in my backyard ( their golf balls not actually the golfers)

Or you could be adopted by my squirrels and live in their tree

just noticed, not only is he not bending his knees.....he's surfing on some guys head....very talented DH you've got there

Yeah, well, he is used to being on the water with more firepower. People just get out of the way.

Pot (or are you kettle) you are so funny girl. Make those faces look more like Janet Reno. Tom Cruise perhaps .....he's scary.......:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

I'm Kettle. You're Pot. :lmao:

Yes, it is a well known fact that large plastic owls and anything depicting Janet Reno are effective bird deterrents.

OK, is anyone else picturing the real Janet Reno standing in Judy's front yard waving?

You don't want to know:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Oh good, nice to know you have my back when I'm not around.

Figured this crowd would fine some humor in this....

Sitting here watching the rain and listening to DS and friend play on-line game "Runescape" and apparently cake is healthy and will heal you.:cake:

I knew that. I know stuff.

:cake:

Well Todd could probably loan you his for awhile. :rotfl2:

1. DS (now 21) when he was going to be 9 was mauled at my mom's house - the neighbor had a retired guard German Shepard dog was a pet.

OMG! Thank you for sharing your story. I’m so glad it had a happy ending.
I was bitten 2x (minor) as a kid & I’m still hesitant approaching strange dogs, even though I’ve always had my own dog and I really love them.

Before anyway thinks anything - I have 2 Siberian Huskies who are extremely friendly (they don't know how to bark and lick people to death) but I am EXTREMELY aware that they look frightening and I take care to keep them away from people that show any type of hesitation just to avoid that.

Any husky training tips???? We just got a 4 month old Alaskan. Slightly different breed, but a lot alike in temprament from what I’ve been reading.

DH almost has her trained in Gee and Ha (sled dog for right and left) but she’s still shirting in my house!

Laura....I am so glad that your son ended up being OK. What a horrifying experience for your entire family to go thru. I hope that you don't still live next to the "people". :grouphug:

Hi Lisa - nope - they eventually moved out about 1 yr after their return - I am ashamed to say that I didn't handle their return as an adult but when it comes to deliberate lying and hurting my kids - I am not the sanest and forgiving person around - however, that was 10 years ago and I would like to think that I would be more able to forgive easier.

As mentioned - things would go fine until my son would tell me how he had to jump a fence into a neighbor's yard to get away from a stray dog - kinda funny now but it wasn't at the time. He tried counseling for a few months but the darn docs wanted him to talk about me - can you believe that?  Ah well - all's well that ends well - he now has 2 beautiful girl dogs that love him to death and at 6'2" tall - he says he'll stomp on any dog that attempts to bite him - thanks for your kind words - sometimes I forget how traumatic it was for me - I hated leaving him when they operating on him but I made sure that I stayed with him the entire 3 days - only going home to shower and change. The best part about it? When he tells the story to others (such as when the family gangs up on me ;) ) he tells them -" at least my mom NEVER left my side the entire time - I know I can trust her" - those words alone made the whole journey bearable!

Gosh - I just don't understand how I can  one human being so much and at the same time be so  with him - but he mentions that story and related stories (2 yr ago he was hospitalized for another 3 days for low blood count - same story there - he 'requested' my presence so there goes mom sleeping on a chair for the entire 3 days) and I just melt!  Makes it all worthwhile! :cloud9:

I am the nanny to two miniature dachunds. Bert is 5 & Bailey is 4. I have taken care of them since they were brought into the house(I own a pet sitting business. Bert is always protective of me. He follows me all over the house where as Bailey does her own thing.Bert can be in the great room and when he hears the pantry door open and his dish being filled with food he is right there. We call him Hoover sometimes because of the way he can pick up and loose dog food nuggets if they fall from their food bin.
They have never snapped at anyone but they will bark when someone comes to the door but after awhile if the are left alone they will come up to you and be best friends.

Karen

Too cute! Oliver is our "Hoover" he would eat 24/7 if we let him! Perhaps that's why he's the tubby little thing he is  But he's a lover, not a fighter (perhaps that's why he and DS get along). He's a longhair and so he's verrrrrry laid back and easy going. Zoe on the other hand is a smooth and is rather skittish--not overly nervous but just a bit high strung. Other than barking when the doorbell rings, your biggest danger from either one is getting licked to death  Though they are doxies and considering what they're bred for, they are very protective of all of us, the house and their yard! A stray wandered a little too close one time and both of them were on alert and ready to dispatch the interloper in an instant!
