We're on the same flight on the 1st then. The direct one leaving at 6:25. What are your plans for the day? We haven't decided what we're doing yet. Typhoon Lagoon is a possibility. We fly Horizon from the island - much rather deal with customs in Victoria @ midnight than finding my luggage in Vancouver/dealing with customs and boarding another flight.

That makes a lot of sense to leave from the island. I LOVE your island by the way. It is one of our favorite places to visit for a weekend. We have talked about a water park for the day, Downtown Disney, or maybe visiting Saratoga Springs for "lunch" and leaving from there. We did rent a car, so we could do just about anything. I just know it will be very hot, and we'll have to find something to do that will keep us cool. I can't remember, do you have kids that will be traveling with you?

Us too & if I remember Esteri was also on that trip. We actually enjoyed it altho' I hadn't researched any of the ports and didn't take my passporter. We also had a trip to the med centre in the middle of the night when youngest DD (14 months at the time) developed a middle ear infection. Hoping for an event free trip this time!

Celestine

Yes, Esteri was on the cruise, as I have since found out.

I was a "clueless" DCL cruiser and we did very little activity wise. We did have our passporter and I had my laptop with the allears download cruise tips book, so we looked up similar excursions and were booked within 1/2 hour of boarding.

I was impressed with how well they handled everything.

Thanks to everyone who posted on the site about parking at the GC. I think I have it all figured out.;)
Party update---well, I let DD13 go to the party I was asking for advice about last week. It was well supervised, she checked in with me, I used the code word idea and she had a lot of fun. The house was on the beach and she got to inner tube, kayak, and go out in a sailboat. The kids all had to wear lifejackets and she loved it. They also had volleyball, basketball, and some other games, but she is a little sports challenged which is why she is on swim team. She had a lot of fun and there were some very nice kids there. Thanks again for the advice from all of you, I spent a lot of time contemplating this one. Tomorrow is a big day for her. IT IS A SURPRISE, but she is getting "Student of the YEAR" for her grade tomorrow. They have student of the month at her school, and it is one boy and one girl for each of the teams. At the end of the year they pick either one or two to be Student of the Year. I fill you in after the awards ceremony tomorrow morning. I'm so proud of her this year. She is an amazing kid!
I hope everyone that is traveling has a safe trip. With regards to driving in Boston, we were able to take a quick trip back there at the beginning of May, we had never been before, and I don't think I would ever want to drive there.:scared1: I was scared just walking sometimes and we took the train everywhere. We LOVED it there, though and really want to go back. The weather is similar to here, but we don't have humidity in the summer, so it would be an even trade I think.

Have a great day everyone! I'm off to DD10's awards ceremony at school, the DD13's school to hand out ice cream after lunch for the kids who had No Missing Assignments for the 4th quarter of school.

We have an Alana too!

Now... is that not a treat? Now we've got 4 Alana's embarked on our trip - sort of...

Just yesterday we learned that the 3rd sister of Ariel is Princess Alana! Truly, she appears in a featured capacity in the Little Mermaid 3... however, I have not had the privilage of seeing it - so this is all 2nd hand info.

little-mermaid-2-3.jpg

This image above is NOT Princess Alana ... as it's proving very difficult to find.

Oh you will love it. Got some really good accessories off the net.http://store.accstation.com/index.htmlTake it everywhere I think there will be a wait(drs office) and just watch some videos or try to keep up with the dis podcast.

Yeah...

... I'm impressed with the sound quality and resolution of the screen. Of course, this playeris litterially 8-15x more costly than my little Sansa refurb ... so I'm in ned of being 4-8x more careful with it. SO I am onthe look out for a nice protective case that allows ready access to it at the same time. I'll chekc out the site - but already sort of have something in mind to get... just not entirely "set" in my thinking yet. Radio Shack (where it was purchased) has an enhanced warrenty for $12 that simply refunds your purchase price if I have a claim ... and the online reviews of this warrenty are MIXED... so I am not entirely committed to getting it. So maybe a nice case shall serve as "my enhanced warrenty"? Shoot... either way... I'm going to have a case so I might just get the warrenty too so as to have no worries in most circumstances.

OK... time to venture out on those challenging (dare I say - "wild") Boston streets. we have a 12 noon thing with our family out here.

Been out playing in the lake all day, then dinner, then a compeditive game of pool FIL & DW vs. DD and myself.

Heading to just south of Myrtle Beach tomorrow.

Nite all.

Andy

It sounds (and looks) like a great day!

I am officially packed and ready to go! :yay: I will have my laptop with me and try and ketchup at night when we get to our hotels.

Have a safe and fun trip!

Oh my gosh! I was watching Good Morning America this morning and they were talking about what killed Tim Russert. Dr. Oz said that it was his belly fat. They said to take your waist measurement at your belly button. If your waist measurement is more than half your height, you are in danger.
I knew I was over but it surprised my DH was slightly over as well. He is not overweight. He is 6'2 and has already had a heart attack and open heart surgery (still, always been "thin").
Guess we have sojme work to do too.

In our family I would say that genetics has more to do with it.... My mother (who has always been a wisp of a woman -- she is 5'2" and barely 100lbs soaking wet) has had 2 stints put in (100% blockage...) Has extrememly high cholesterol (did I mention that for the past 20 yrs or so she only eats meat about once a week?) and has been on medication for that for years.....

I'm glad things worked out for the party! And congratulations to your dd on the award!

Thanx!

In addition to some other nice little things .... I got one of these (black) for Fathers' Day...

I guess she thought my putzing around with my little 2 GB Sansas was due for a change... and I could stand for it too. I had hinted some time ago that I would not mind one these Zune 30GB players - but not the expensive Zune 80 or Apple 80GB players - as I have been known to be rough with my players - and I might feel glum about breaking or losing one of those snazzy and expensive players - alas, I could stomach an accident with a somewhat more modest Zune 30.

SWMBO bought me an 80GB red Zune for Father's Day yesterday. I had been wanting a video iPod to replace my old 3G iPod for some time. I haven't played around with it enough yet to know if I will like it or not. I have to reformat a lot of my music and buy all new accessories so I am not sure it was the wisest purchase, cost-wise. I think my biggest complaint is it won't work with my alarm clock. (I can play the Zune through it but the 'wake to MP3' function' only works with a docked iPod).

Hola JR!

Just dropping a "drive by" hello!

I gotta GOTTA go now!

2 months and 1 day! :scared1: That means too late for either gastric bypass or liposuction. Hmm- guess diet and exercise will have to make whatever dent I can in 2 months.
Well- that is after lunch. We went to Macaroni Grill yesterday for Fathers Day and I have leftovers. I normally do not like that place but had Carmelita Rigatino (or something like that). YUM!!! Grilled chicken and carmalized onions over rigatoni in a creamy marsala sauce. That was very good!

Why is it too late for liposuction? I was thinking of it as a last resort in July!!!!!

True- Poor Bill has major heart issues on both sides of his family. For goodness sakes- both his GrandMOTHERS died on heart attacks in their 50's!!! Poor guy does not stand too much of a chance.

Well, for the full body suck I would need would take too long to recover from. ;)

There's swelling and bruising involved with Lipo...

You've seen that "Swan" reality show right?

eh besides lipo won't help for loose skin, which is one of my bigger problems right now...

I use to love this too (well I still love it) but I made the mistake of looking at the calorie value when I started watching my weight. :scared1: I won't even tell you how many calories or grams of fat it contains, I guess that is why it tastes so good. ;)

I know what you mean. I tried to lose weight before this cruise and it seems like I am just putting more weight on. I was only 100 lb. when I graduated from high school (many, many years ago) and was always skinny until these last 10 years when the weight just seemed to pack on. Of course a desk job where I sit on my add 10 hours a day doesn't help.:lmao: When my girls were growing up I was much more active running around with them all day. Now I sit in front of a computer all day. And heart disease runs in my family too. My dad died of heart complications and my sister has a defibulator...and I am on beta blockers. It all goes back to that belly fat. Even my teeny, tiny Mom (5' and 95 lbs.) has a belly.

My metabolism died many years ago!!!!!:headache: :headache: I eat less than 1000 calories and walk five times a week at 3 to 4 miles on a 10 percent incline on my treadmill.:faint: You think I would be skinny !!!!;) I am still trying to lose the 10 pounnds I gained from free dining as WDW last September and from my last born 34 years ago!!.:lmao: :lmao: :lmao: I was only on free dining for 4 days!!!!

Wow! The 1000 calorie intake is so small. I have worked with a trainer since 2005 and I would imagine he would think you are not eating enough. Your body needs fuel to burn (work). I know everyone is different so you might be right but maybe checking into that would help you out. Keep me posted. I always care about others and their weight loss goals. I have struggled with it for a long time. Take care.

Mine too.. she was not even 5' and at the most 95 lbs.. but she had the belly.. a lady on the train said that we get a belly as we get older.. seems it has to do with lower metabolism and estrogen..

I was thinking about this very thing at lunch today.. here i am shaped like an apple.. big belly.. and flappy arms.. just a sight to see.. but anyway.. if i diet for the next 2 months, i may loose a lb or 2 plus ( i did this 2 years ago for a cruise) because i had dieted I was not able to eat all of the meals plus i wasn't able to really enjoy my meal and dessert and all of the little snacks... but if i don't diet then i will be in shape for all of the eating i am going to do on the cruise.. such a thing to ponder ..:scratchin  pirate:

I like your thinking...

Happy Monday everyone! I am a bit toasty from the weekend. Everyone one at work is just staring at me. Thankfully it is not too painful. Figured I would chime in. I have been seeing a trainer since April. Have not lost any weight and my clothes are not fitting any different. In July if things have not changed I guess I am going to have to give in and find new clothes for the cruise (hopefully just formal & semi).
