Just a friendly reminder for all the princesses to check in on the list of participants thread on the Pirate Zone. We want to be sure to provide everyone participating with a little trinket (or two :rolleyes1 ). Signing up is not mandatory, but if you don't sign up, we can't deliver anything to you. Also, for those with no quite adult princesses, we have a few of those too, so if you want you DDs listed as well, please post there.

I appreciate you including my little princesses, my DD14 and I really want to participate, but you know the little ones wouldn't let us get away with not including them. We ordered dresses already for the girls and just need our tiaras/jewelry/gloves and we are set. I am SOOOO bizarrely excited about this...my DH thinks I am nuts! :)

I don't think we ever planned to exclude them. We just wanted an excuse for the older ones to dress up too. I never realized it would take hold like it did. I actually found a Belle dress that I used one year for Halloween. I considered going all out Belle, but then decided to just stick with my regular formal.

Make it a challenge to ride at least 1 E Ticket ride in each park.

I LOVE that idea and we will have a van, so we should be able to get around to each park easily...that would be fun but crazy! Something right up the alley for my family...::yes:: ::yes::

Just back from a stroll to the post office to mail my DIY pirate shirts and a check. YAY!

75 days to TOAL seems like such a long time, until I think about all the things I have to get done between now and then.

What a day its been.. First of all thank you all for the well wishes for my dad.. he went to the oncologist and was told he didnt have to be there since he looked so great. He also, but on 2-3 lbs from last visit. That was a very big concern to us..

I get home and his car is going to be laid up for 2 days so I told him to take mine.. no big deal.. (I can read the dis boards all day!!
)):cool1:

I get settled with the computer read the first post I wanted and the phone rings.. I leave my desk to talk for 2 min.. come back and my mouse is on the floor. EATEN by my wonderful baby African Grey!!! UGGGHHHH... Ok
I can buy another one.. I HAVE NO CAR!!!! "i wrote my DH to not talk to me until
I have a new mouse...you think I was a bit to rough on DH??? I taped the mouse with duct tape and taped it to the garage door for him:lmao: :lmao: He said whats this??? I said what does it look like... UGGGHH MEN..

Needless to say he is now connecting a new mouse for me.
I am on my sons laptop.

Monica, my prayers with your dad as well. Let us know how he makes out.

Alas, neither of those pics look like my brown dress.. Its 2 pieces and shimmery brown.

Ok now that its 421 and I am caught up.. time to give son his laptop back and make dinner.. Talk to you all later...

I notice we seem to have quite a few young girls that are bridging from Brownies to Juniors this year! (mine included!) I was wondering if any of them would be interested in maybe trying to earn a Junior badge while on board. I would be willing to put it all together and run it. I haven't looked throufgh the book yet to see if there is an appropriate one, but I bet we could find something!

I know my daughter would be happy to earn a badge or two while we are on the ship so we'd be up for it.

Mine isn't bridging but is still a Jr. - I think that would be great! I would be happy to help if you need anything.

We have a Junior too!! This would be great. :cool1:

I found this cute patch and we can get it changed to a different wording...cost would depend on the amount of girl participating but any age can wear it on their vest. It could be given out for paticipating in the badge event onboard as well as help them earn a badge or part of a badge...

I would have to order these in the next week or so to make sure they come in on time.

Thoughts?

Love the patch idea........DD9 earned her first Junior patch at the VA Beach Aquarium overnight. She is stressing a little though since the other girls in our troop are doing a week long Camp called Camp Evening Shade (where they will earn about 4 badges) while we are on the TOAL. I was telling her that I would try and figure out some things to work on while we were gone for her to earn badges that no one else has yet. I love this idea, count us on the patch count, let us know how much they are. Also, I would be willing to help with this just let me know what I can do.

Monica, prayers are with you and your family. Hope all turns out okay :lovestruc

:cool1: :cool1: Great news about your dad.

Sorry about the mouse, but at least it's getting fixed today.

Since it's only 9pm for me, I'd be willing to sit in chat with you. Not sure we could get in DIS chat though since they changed the rules. Supposedly the rooms are only open when a moderator is in there. We could do it on Pirate Chat though.

Anyone else willing to sit with us??

I should be home by then..I have a dinner to go to at 6:30 but expect I should be home between 8:30-9:00.

See you then!

Would this be actually on the 4th of July or the 5th which is Saturday? I am out of town the last two weeks of June but if you do something the first weekend of July..we would love to join in. Let us know!

I think this is on the FRIDAY the 4th of July. If you can get up to the Regan Library BEFORE they open then you should be OK to park up top. It gets busy - so if you come about 30 or 40 minutes after it starts then the parking lot AND the entire length of the street can become parked full. Certainly by 11AM it might fill up so you have to park in an overflow lot. It's not a problem if you don't mind waiting for their shuttle bus. PLUS, if its' hot then you need to be prepared to wait for the bus and all. Overall - I think it's well run. And I will be there approximately 45-60 minutes BEFORE they open - and on the first lawn you'll encounter from the regular parking lot at the top. There are a few picnic benches that are underutilized - so we're easy to spot. Inside - it's small enough that you can bump into us easy enough. And in practice we wander about in a loosely led mob.

Tips... go through the courtyard (where there are many craft stations) to the REAR lawn. The jumpers are there - and best freebies are given out there (left side when entering rear lawn). I won't say what is given away so as not to spoil any more of the "discovery" involved. However, you already know about the expected Magic Mountain passes - given/regulated by a PUNCH CARD given to each child upon entering (good to get an extra punch card by exiting and re-entering a few minutes later if you want more than one free magic mountian pass per child. Remember - I am INNOCENT of any mischief YOU engage in - I just made the INNOCENT suggestion you nab an extra punch card... right?!

At any rate, I will say if you want either of these things for your kids - then the lines for them grown pretty quick - so if you spot the lines as being tolerable then get in line right then and there for the .... face painting and balloon guy - he makes balloon animals / swords / magic wands etc..

Also, off to the right of the back lawn - go DOWNSTAIRS or down the elevator (next to cafateria) to where they run games for the kids. There usually are seperate lines for various age groups - to keep the competition fair among like aged kids.

All of this is fairly simple fun - and of course, we should remind our kids that we are marking the occassion of our countrys' birthdate - at a library which was created in memory of a great President of our country. Likewise we should not say we really went because it was FREE to get in - and that we were looking for the fre Magic Mountain passes too. < wink >

In the photo above you can just make out the parking area at the top edge of the image. We picnic at the upper left of the image. And that circular lawn off to the upper right is the rear LAWN where a couple of jumpers are set up - with the concessions giving free stuff (MM passes?) set up in the shade facing this circular area.

BELOW is a better view of the parking area and exact lawn where we picnic which is directly in front of the parked RED truck ... this photo shows trees where my memory says there are now several picnic benches.

As for fireworks - I don't know if you'll want to stay for that - but again - it's an open invitation - and come when you like - stay for as much or as little as you like. Here is a link to a 2:35 minute video of the fireworks over the hill behind Jans Mall... it's actually NOT in focus - but gives you an idea of whats' involved. It runs about 15-20 minutes plus as I recall. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=qEjFuwyA02U&feature=related

I just got this off of the main board from a returning passenger on the 5/25 Mexican cruise. This is what I have been waiting for to make my transportation plans. I think it will help a lot of us as far as time tables for 8/17 AM.

We got to the terminal at 9:35, dropped the luggage off curbside and a porter took it right away. DH went to park and was back in just a few minutes. They let us into the terminal but the check in counters were not opened until 10:00 so I waited in line. We were the third group in line for the Castaway Club check in. After we checked in and got our KTTW cards, then we went to another part of the terminal and that is when we recieved boarding card #3. We did not go through security until right before we boarded the ship. We were on the ship before noon. Very easy process. We did have to wait in a long line for kids' club check-in but were able to get our pagers before we got on the ship.

As far as boarding groups went, someone told me that the suites got groups 1 and 2. After boarding some of the suite guests, the announcement was made to board groups 1-3.

Hey Esteri - what time will the packing party be?? DS will be in summer school and it doesn't let out until 1:30pm. I suppose I could come without him if it will be early in the day. But I know he'd like to help if possible.

You know - I haven't got that far. :rotfl2:

Figured we wait until about a week before packing day, find out who's coming, and among ourselves figure out the time.

It's my first day of sabbatical - I have no time table. :thumbsup2

Tom another get together sounds great. Unfortunately I will be working July 4th so will can not make it. Cherie and I are off the following weekends; June 28-29 and July 26-27th. Maybe we can shoot for one of those.

I work every Saturday, Lindsey works one weekend per month. Let us know the date you come up with and I am sure we can attend. Dont forget, here in my fair city we have fireworks and a lots of family games and stuff on the 3rd of July. (I guess they dont want to upstage the big stuff in T.O. or the Reagan Library. ha-ha)

We'll come over to your end of town on th 3rd if you'll propose a time and place. As for the other dates ( a SUNDAY on June 29th and July 27th) - it looks good - however Alicia is out of town today and tomorrow - and I'm out of town wed and thursday and completely out of web contact. So when I call to catch Alicia with her calandar tonite I'll ask her about what seems to emerge as mutually convenient dates.

I am right with you on that...75 days seems like a long time, but so much to do....

I just remembered this weekend that we are having 2 kids from Germany stay with us for 3 weeks starting end of September. So we basically need to have the rooms ready before we leave as when we return we will be put immediately into the craziness of starting school etc. So in addition to getting ready for the trip, we need to basically clear out 7 years of stuff from my boys rooms and make it all nice for someone to live in for 3 weeks and gut my DD14's room too. UGH, fun stuff!

I am really excited to have the kids live with us for a few weeks, then in June '09, my DS16 will be going over there for several weeks. Exciting!!!!

Ok, but you know you are dealing with OCD planners right??

Really, I just wanted you to know that we want to help but afternoon would be better for us.

That'll be cool! It's 10 for me so I'm normally awake anyway. I don't know how Pirate chat works.

Janelle here are some more photos

Nice photos Roger! I like the sharpness in many of the images. I was shooting at ISO 400 and f3.8 to 5.6 mostly. Mild post camera processed... however, I think the slide show dumbs down my images a bit to make ripping the images harder... supposedly. Your Picassa web host looks NICE. I have to take a closer look at it some time.
