8/17/08 Captain Jack's Repossession Repo Cruise to PC thru TPC #6

Happy Tuesday everyone!

Okay, just got ketched up from heading to work yesterday.

Some notes for everyone and then headed off to work again...

1) I am almost officially able to go on the TOAL. I watched POC Sunday and POC 2 last night. Finally!!!! I was in the super duper shunned section of the ship until I got that accomplished! One more to go...

2) We got Mickey Mail!!! Well, I guess that would be exciting except I got one last month. So, I guess I get to go on the trip twice? I suppose it could be one per room as we have two rooms.

3) I have the Cabo private sailing tour booked!!!!

4) I can't seem to get a response for the PV zip lines. I got everyone in the family all excited about that one, and I am worried we won't be able to do it now. YIKES!

Well, I have to go to work in 20 minutes. Try not to talk too much today!

We already have our house sitter booked. We use an agency and found it cost us about the same to have our 2 small dogs & cat with an in home sitter as it was for kenneling.

Haven't booked mine yet, but will probably have a vet-tech stop by in the while I'm away. Peepers has chronic renal faliure but it's been two years since she was diagnosed and is doing great. Also thinking of having a neighbor just stop by in the afternoon/evening to try to save on vet-tech visits. However, even with having a vet-tech visit, it's still about the same as boarding my cat so she'll stay home. She'll have a hard enough time for the nearly three weeks, so the less stress, the better.

Well, time for me to head out. Heading to the dr with my mom. We're going to discuss with her doc how the time change is going to affect her diabetes and get instructions on her insulin, etc. Figured someone else had to know what is going on as last time she had a reaction she and my dad didn't handle it too well. She knew what to do but was so out of it she asked dad for cheese and a granola bar and him not knowing any better gave it to her.

I love going to work late, was able to ketchup rather quickly!

The third POC is the best, IMO. Although, a lot of people I know didn't like it at all. I thought it was hysterical. And make sure you catch the scene after the credits.

I didn't read Blue Highways, but I did read River Horse where he travelled from coast to coast only in a boat.

Blue Highways is much better IMHO.
River Horse was OK, and I never could get through Prairyerth. I wanted to like it - I just didn't!

We want to do the tour with Mr Emerald as well. With DHs limited mobility, hopefully we can get a group with not so much walking. Or he can sit in the van!!!!!

I read a trip report where a guest was added to a party with mobility issues without previous notification and they were accommodated just fine.

So despite Crash's psychotic, umm psychiatric advice, I called for a doc appointment at the Army hospital. Here is the conversation I had about an hour ago after pressing 1, then 4, then 1, then 7, and entering DHs social:

Oh Man, that stinks. And all the time you are trying to keep your cool 'cause you don't want to get disconnected (accidently )

Then there's the, "Thank you for holding....Please hold some more"

Perhaps I'll give him another try with Blue Highways. I think the only reason I got through RiverHorse was my Grandmother gave me the book and I felt obligated to read it. I generally read fiction, but enjoy some nonfiction, particularly biographies.

How do you do door magnets? I have some pictures made up, but I don't know how to get them onto the magnet paper I bought.

One thing to note.... Many printers may not take the thicker magnet paper. I know mine wouldn't even handle iron-on transfer. (as the paper needs to flip over instead of straight path)

Yeah i know.... When my sister had that stress fracture on her leg bone they never did a MRI till a month later...... They didn't even schedule her an ortho consult for two weeks yet she couldn't even walk.

You know I never thought about diabetes being affected by time change but I guess any time sensitive medicine taking would be.

..i have a buddy..who just return from iraq. the nurses...took their
pictures..and made..an outstanding...video..that is very reflective of
our troops and their american spirit. { it is very heavy..on feelings..well
ya know..how nurses are? }..* ya kno ?..you "see"..these baby-faces,
lil girls..but underneath..they are tough..as nails! ( it sure brought back
desert storm).

...there are no words..i can say..that express my gratitude..to our
country's finest..and dedicated men & women. the "norm"..think
lil' of themselves...to go way beyond..any duty that is thrushed upon
them..to protect..all of us. GOd bless..there would be no freedom
without..this living & breathing spirit.

fyi, when iam @ work...i do not fool around. [ our job..is very easy ,
* but..one must understand..the baselines..defining human nature.]
otherwise, its a nightmare. like in dallas..where 4 veterans..committed
sucide..in like, less in a week..& they had to close the unit down. we
are nothing..like..hollywood [think term.II]...& our objectives..interventions,
everything...is as concrete...that anyone can understand..& use.

funny?..that a combat nurse..be developing...tommorrow psych. protcols..
..but i also..felt..that way..being a combat medic..assigned....working
ob. and..scary/for me, as..alot..of those babies..are older..than alot of you,
going on this cruise. don't worry, though...you will get your turn..@ getting
..older. * on of my co-worker rn, just became..a grandma with twins...
...she was worry = @ how young ..the neontal rn's looked, holding
in their hands..very, very precious. "hugs" . as i reminded..her...i was only
19 when i did that job...but i felt....30!


sadly, ..almost..all , that shared..their great knowledge..are gone.
..that's what ..i am doing now...passing on....as much s i can..to
the new & baby nurses.

drugs..rx. drugs....are way out of controls...drs. have been corrupted by
the drugs reps. "perks"...and lot of lives.are being ruint. you know..there's
it's getting out of hand..when you "see" them being pitched..with all
the fake promises!...we "see' the end results..& the trends. seqouel,
...its sorta replace..thorazine...but something..wrong..when you see
drug abusers...wanting it.., they're using it to get high. pain meds!
..it was usppsed to be alleviating terminal pain..not every
day...,sad as it is ugly!..bull! pain ..is the body main warning system.
who ever heard...narcotics..for muscle aches?! some one needs to
put the brakes..on this...asap!

I laminize pictures and just put stips of thin magnets on them!!! I always try to put something personal on the magnet so they just don't walk awya!!

Would you belive that MIL packs everything for my FIL??? The man goes on vacation with absolutely no concept of what he is bringing with him!

Oh my! In over 28 yrs of marriage I have not packed anything for dh! I don't pack for adults! LOL! Once you reach about 12 or so I don't pack much for you....... I do force the kdis to show me what they've packed. And I have been known to make them set everything out in outfits and have me approve it before they put it in their suitcase! LOL!

I split Roger's Tour of Los Arcos into its own thread, so beach is one thread and Los Arcos another. Large group doesn't seem to work, but I posted several reviews of Water Taxi and Glass Bottom Boat options for small groups.
