OK folks! It seems someone gave up a cabin again...< how dare they!!!?> there is a listing on the DCL site for a catagory 12 guarantee good for at least 2 at only $5197.58! I've double checked and QUAD requests do not go through - however there appears to be a triple... and there appear to be at least TWO cabins available as I was able to simultaneously entangle two cabins - a triple and double in one reservation. Good luck for anyone seeing this trying to grab it!

Edited in.... it seems those two cabins are gone now. However, anyone interested in the WESTBOUND repo leaving in 4 days can still get a catagory 5 verandah. I think it would have run $11K or so for a family of 4 like mine with a 4 and 7 year old.

There were several places that I could easily rent a car, but we need a full-size van...so that's where I ended up being limited. Five women, all that luggage, and all that wine!!!

We rented a full size van at the Port in Orlando to get all of us and all our stuff to Disney World for a few hours and then to the airport. There is no way we will fit in our minivan.

My parents are going to pick us up from the airport at home with BOTH vans!

I love that! OK, I need to find an occasion to buy a bobblehead. Those are so fun.

My 9 for just 5 days DS weighs around 50 lbs! He is so skinny you can see his bones. He eats reasonably (although he isn't really "into" food) but he never sits still and just burns it all off.

My 9 1/2+ DS is a whopping 53 lbs. and the kid eats constantly. DS almost 8 is 46 lbs. Once upon a time, I had metabolism like that!

If I were him....I'd have soooo sent the panties back and stayed on campus.

Just now we were watching a little of James and the Giant Peach ansd she was mildly frightened of a scene and buried her face into my tummy. I tell ya, it's enuf ta melt yer heart. And on another point - she just asked Alicia another whopper of a question out of THIN AIR... she asked what would happen to her if Mommy and Daddy passed away!? Now I must say - what on Earth would lead a little girl to ask such a question? Alicia had to call me over for an opinion... and I offerred a reply with Alicia adding to it. Gee... the things kids think of. And of course, now I've got James and the Giant Peach on and the little boy has no parents because a mythical Giant Rinoceros killed his parents. SO... gee wiz... is this where these ideas come from ??? Duuuuhhhh.[/CENTER]

She was just being practical. You never know when a Giant Rinoceros will come barging into the house.

If I HAD been wearing those, the whole thing would never have happened in the first place!

Mike has inspired me to get my camera out and start taking some pictures, since it is still relatively new to me. Today offered an excellent opportunity. For the past 6 months or so we have had a covey of quail that occasionally visit our backyard. Today the dog went running out the door so I went to check. One of the males jumped up into the rosemary in the back of our yard. So here we have the California State Bird.

My sister is Reenieny who is also traveling with me along with her DH Marty and DS Daniel.

We paid off the trip two weeks ago anf I was hoping that we would get a room assignment once we paid. No such luck!

Are any fellow disers staying at the HOJO across from DL?
How are you getting fro the hotel to the port on Sunday.

Are there going to be any meets before we set sail? Sorry if I am asking any questions that may have been answered but I haven't been on the boards since October(
life got in the way).

May I suggest (and remember - I am NOT a board certified MD) if your son only shows syptoms of a FEVER - and nothing in his respitory system - no ear pain or disorientation - no digestive annomaly - and no deficating issues - he might then simply have a viral infection. In which cade you should let it run it's course approximately 3 days. If it persists then go see a doc. If any of he other symptoms are present then you might have an ear infection = or digestive trac infection - or respitory infection - possibly pneumonia if the chest infection seems intense or is of a long duration nature. Which should be taken VERY seriously. AND... may I ask if a nurse is available tgo consilt over the phone pror to going in to see the doc? I find the telephone consults to be speedly and easy in easing us as to how best to proceed sometimes. OK.. so where's my Nickle?

I love that! OK, I need to find an occasion to buy a bobblehead. Those are so fun.

Because they take 6-8 weeks to create at the cheapest and slowest rate there is no time like the present to get one made up in anticipation of need. These things seem like a real riot in terms of being silly yet ending up with a nicely personalized gift of sorts. I recently asked a street artist how much they wanted to create a 6" half sculpture of a face and they wanted $40. For a full head and semi-shoulder sculpture he wanted $125 to create a 7-8" bust. I had considered having a local artist make the head - then I'd hollow out or create a spring mount to the bottome while going to a local ceramics craft shop to make a base of my own choosing and (possibly) creation. FAT chance of that for $40-125 for the head alone.

So, from that POV these cold cast resin bobble heads seem tolerable to me considering I'm spending $83 for a comical sculpture of the full head, painted and inclusive of the electronic reusable 10 second recording chip and the shipping from China. Michelle, all ya have ta do is select a body model to go with the head and order the thing... then HIDE it til the need arises!

Right now I'm considering giving Alicia her bobble head on the cruise as a humorous anniversary thing. Of course, this is probably NOT the sort of thing she's expectin' - which is the only thing that makes me hesitate. As this bobble head just might end up COSTING ME MORE in the long run.... get my drift. At any rate, if I bring it then a few who have interest can check it out in person (if you can catch me on the ship) to see what 83 bucks gets ya in these sort of things.

I'm only up because my spouse kicked me out for snoring unusally loudly. And she really didn't kick me out - cuz if she did she really would have kicked me off the bed onto the floor! So I think it's almost time fer me ta return for 40 winks and some warmth under the covers before the sun rises.

So despite Crash's psychotic, umm psychiatric advice, I called for a doc appointment at the Army hospital. Here is the conversation I had about an hour ago after pressing 1, then 4, then 1, then 7, and entering DHs social:

Operator: {grumble, chomp, slurp} Appoinmen....

Me: I would like to make an appointment for my son, he's been running a fever for 2 days.

O: We don't have any more same day appointments

{silence}

M: What? The phone line opened 5 minutes ago

O: Oh yeah for same day you should call the day before

M: So it's not same day.

O: Yeah, it's same day, you just need to call the day before {sigh} (like I'm the dumbest person on earth that I can't understand this).

M: OK, but right now I have a child with a fever, do you have any suggestions?

O: I guess you could go to the emergency room

M: for a 101 fever??? I don't care if we see his primary care manager, I would just like to get him in to see someone.

O: {sigh...} let me see what I can do. {click}

O: OK I found an emergency appointment for you at 10 am

M: Great, do we check in at the emergency rooom?

O: NO! I just said I got you an emergency appointment.

M: Please tell me where I should go...

O: Pediatrics [click]

Have you ever read Blue Highways by William Least Heat Moon?

He traveled around the country on back roads (blue on the map). It is a great book.

I didn't read Blue Highways, but I did read River Horse where he travelled from coast to coast only in a boat.

The HoJo is anywhere from 2600 ft to 3000 ft, depending on where your room was. Wow, I was right on in my estimate of 1/2 mile. Remember back in March I was supposed to check if for you all but I forgot my pedometer.

Yes, as I recall there are over 60 of us staying at HOJO's. We'll be arriving on the 12th. The best place for info on pre-cruise meets are the piratezone boards. The pre-cruise meet can info can be found at:
