Your computer comes with "No TV tuner w/remote control"?
They list that as a FEATURE?

Well, I wasn't going to buy this when I thought it had a TV tuner with remote control, but now that you tell me it has "No TV tuner", I just have to have it...

you're still crackin' me up.

Thanks everyone! The interview went well and I did tell them that I had to have the last two weeks of August off - no negotiation on that front. The person I interviewed wtih has several more this week and then goes on vacation to Florida next week so it will be at least a week and a half before I hear anything from them. In the meantime, I will keep on looking and taking the wonderful happy pills the doctor gave me.

mmmmm happy pills

Txs everyone

I will let you know the outcome..but it looks like I may end up buying two dresses.. the Macy's one (yeah the most expensive:thumbsup2 ).. and a cocktail dress.

The gown I know will not go to waste with all the cruises we take..:goodvibes

I need to pick up a cocktail dress anyway for a wedding next month.. and yea I will wear it twice and will not tell my DD... :lmao:

You have got the best of two worlds....two dresses.;) Everyone in my area had nightmares from David's Bridal. :headache: Maybe each store is different.:confused3 I have not gone to a wedding where the Mother-of-the Bride has not wore a long gown in years. Maybe it is a Illinois thing that the mothers always where long gowns.:rolleyes1

Okay...Opinions please.

I had a doctor appointment this morning. A 45 minute drive from my house.
I got there, and they had no record whatsoever of my appointment. We made the appt at our last visit. It was a follow up after a procedure.

They said I could wait and get "squeezed in"...but I had another appointment with our attorney back up here and only had 2 hours total, including travel time, so I told them I'd reschedule.

I got home and found the card they gave me with my appt on it. I had the correct date and time. But apparently, when they made the appointment that day, it never got entered into the computer system.

Now here's my question....should I let it go, or call and tell them?
Not like they'll do anything. But it irks me that if I missed an appt with the doctor, they'd charge me. Now I'm out the time and gas it took to drive all the way down there.

:confused3

Stace, I run a fairly large imaging office. I would definately want to know if this happened to a patient. 1) because I want the opportunity to apologize to the patient, I think patients need to know that we consider their time just as important as the staff's or the doctor's 2) because I would want to know if there was a pattern with an employee and 3) because I would send the patient movie tickets because I wasted their time.

You should definately call or write to the office manager.

Tom is just referring to the Disney execs that he e-mailed previously when DCL was going to add $100 to all our fares but then they saw the outcry go up on the boards as this fee was being passed on to us (but not to those who already had paid off their fares.)

DCL removed the fee again about a week later.

DCL was going to institute a special $100 per person tax for going through the PC -- I think they said the PC had imposed it and they were passing on the cost . . . so many people (like Tom!) complained that they changed again and said they would not add the cost to those already booked.

Whew! I thought I missed another fee.
Thanks yal!

Thanks for all your thoughts today. I am glad that I got to stay in contact with Adam throughout the day. I am sorry that I didn't check in--it was just not a good day. I knew when it was on CNN at the store that most would know it was OK.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Metro Police have made an arrest in Wednesday morning's Fern Creek Traditional High School gun incident. The incident led to a four-hour lockdown at two schools, affecting nearly 2,000 students.

Police said their 17-year-old suspect is not a Fern Creek student. Detectives spent much of Wednesday questioning the suspect's parents.

Police said the teen was stopped with two other teens in a stolen car on Russell Boulevard around 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Meanwhile, other parents have a lot of questions for the school district.

Louisville Metro Police surrounded the school building around 8 a.m. Wednesday. Shortly thereafter, concerned parents surrounded police.

Parent James Brown, like many others, spent the morning trying to reach loved ones inside the school.

“What are you doing? Are you laid down? Are the doors locked?” he asked.

“My daughter texted me and said they heard gunshots,” said parent Michelle Corbett.

Some parents paused for prayer inside Fern Creek Baptist Church, which served as a staging area and was where they learned the threat was real.
We do believe we definitely know there was a young man in the school with a gun,” Metro Police Chief Robert White told the parents. “No shots have been fired, no one's been injured.”

Metro Police said they believe the suspect was a student at Beuchel Metropolitan School who had a fight with a Fern Creek Student.

For nearly four hours officers searched and researched the high school and neighboring elementary school.

Shortly before parents were allowed to pick up their children, they were firing questions at JCPS officials about how a non-student entered the school.

“It was before school started. We have kids entering our building right at 7:30,” said Fern Creek Principal Houston Barber. “This individual may have come in with a group of students.”

“We can't make our schools prisons and work within this realm to make everyone else safe,” said Maurice Risner, head of Jefferson County Public Schools student safety.

Many students said they were just glad to be with family. Some felt they were much safer than their parents thought they were.

“We just heard that there was a gun and they just said there were no shots fired,” said sophomore Paige Webb. “So we weren't really concerned about it.”

Barber said things are safe, and school will operate as normal Thursday.

Metro Police said they will have officers in the area until the suspect is located.

I was talking to one of our undercover police officers this morning and a customer overheard and joined in the conversation and said he had just gotten a text from his neice claimimg that she was under the desk and shots were fired---I told him that could not be true, for one I am sure my cell would be going off and that this police officer's radio would be going off too. He left. I told the officer he should have locked him up for being stupid.

Paula, glad to hear no one was physically hurt. How scary for everyone involved.

Gosh, chatty bunch of pirate:s tonight.
Ketchup Time

Just got DS a Toothtunes last night. The deal was he had to promise to bursh every morning and night otherwise I'd take it away. It's a Hannah Montanah one.......DS has his first celebrity crush...:rotfl:

aaawwww, that's cute!
My DS9 has a thing for Rachel Ray. She doesn't come in toothbrush form, but he sure does eat a lot of crackers.

You know, I think you're on to something there. There is an odd resemblance to the Capt'n there...

Willy_Wonka-resin-statue_L.jpg

So after more than a year on this thread, I can often predict the reaction to one of my comments...it's just a matter of who!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl:

Okay...make that "I'll be wearing jeans and a t-shirt"
 ;)

I thought maybe you were going to re-enact The Emperor's New Clothes.
Stacey's New Clothes!

My son's middle school had a lockdown one day because a kid told his teacher that he saw someone on campus in a batman costume.
:confused3 :confused3
Batman was never found. But I guess it was good "real" practice.

Must have been my baby shower...sorry.

I needed a drink warning for that!! Oh wait, I'm not supposed to admit to drinking and DISing at the same time, it's very un-Disney and might adversely affect my children.
Oops...too late.
??:upsidedow :upsidedow :upsidedow :upsidedow ??

THIS IS A FAMILY THREAD! No drinking!

Yeah, I thought I'd jump in on that one.
I got your back.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I definitely need more opinions. Half of me agrees with each of you!!!

I am standing here beside myself.

Thanks Julie. I was hoping you would reply. My SIL passed away last night and she is the only one able to go. My DH has an appt with his Dr tomorrow and is too upset to make the trip as this hits home pretty hard .Not only that but he would be a mess to boot.

:grouphug:

I knew what you meant Laurie! That's usually my way of letting someone "have it"! Just drop in a little sugar & you can catch a lot of flies! ;)

Oh great, now she's attracting flies.

DS10 is trying to figure out how to cost effectively build roads with embedded electromagnets for his hover craft technology. (that he plans to invent)

there's gonna be lots of trouble on the TOAL.

Have I mentioned that we call DS7 Evil Genius?

When DS10 was about 6 and couldn't swim, the life guard at camp told him he could not go off the diving board if he was wearing a bubble, as in, kids who wear bubbles can't swim & therefore can't go off the diving board. DS heard, you can't go off the diving board if you're wearing a bubble...so, he took the bubble off & went off the diving board. Darn near drowned.

OK, well, since DS is still alive...that is really funny!

So you've infiltrated the other camp to gather intelligence on their ability and/or knowledge of the 90 day ressies? Good job pirate. :thumbsup2

TAKE WHAT (RESERVATIONS) YOU CAN !!

GIVE NOTHING (RESERVED) BACK!

At least the Mickey fish doesn't come with a soundtrack.

Does anyone know if it is a decent hotel????? Haven't been in NYC since 87.

I haven't stayed there personally but have had clients that have and all have come back with good reviews about it

I am bored and do not want to work anymore so I was messing around on YouTube. I searched on Roswell since that is where I am from.
This (http://youtube.com/watch?v=QzmmlaZ9b9I) video came up. Disclaimer that I did not watch all 16 minutes but the 1st couple of minutes are directly from the plastic dummy alien they have in the UFO Museaum(yes, there really is one there :sad2: ). They are trying to get you to believe they are an actual alien autospy. It is so stupid it is funny.

Arlene, so sorry to hear about your SIL.

I'm sure that would have them quaking.... NOT.

I don't mention that I am one, just throw in a few phrases here and there that let them know..... Res ispa loquitor; Habeas corpus; Quid pro quo; **** praesumitur bonus donec probetur malus; Carpe Cerevisi; Da mihi sis cerevisiam dilutam; Da mihi sis bubulae frustrum assae, solana tuberosa in modo Gallico fricta, ac quassum lactatum coagulatum crassum; etc.

Res ispa loquitor ...

Isn't that Latin for "Where is the liquor store?"

Good luck with your meeting Mike!

Good Luck Mike.

Thanks Diane & Lisa. It went well. DS will go to the resource room for help with his reading and writing. I'm really proud of him, because his writing grade went from an F in the first marking period to an A in the second! We're working really hard, he's obviously working really hard, and the extra support at school can only help even more.

.... did you like the fish in the newsletter?

I laughed out loud when I saw that. I already have the screen saved so I can make a door magnet of the Mickey head fish.

Paula, I'm so glad everything worked out OK and nobody was hurt. Even though I knew the kids were safe, I still had chills reading that news story.

I'm so sorry to hear this Arlene. Please accept our condolences. We'll keep you and your family in our prayers.
