Well, I paid an arm and a leg for our flights for the cruise  . It's pricey getting off this little island, we call home these days. The price has gone up $100 each in the past week, so I bit the bullet and paid before it went any higher.

We get into LA on the Thursday, should be in DL by 2. We don't leave Orlando until 6:30 though.:headache: Anyone else hanging around the airport or have other plans for disembark day?

There was talk of a post cruise mini meet, but I don't think any definitive plans have been made yet. We'll be visiting my sister over night so we're in no hurry!

Thanks for all your thoughts today. I am glad that I got to stay in contact with Adam throughout the day. I am sorry that I didn't check in--it was just not a good day. I knew when it was on CNN at the store that most would know it was OK.

I was talking to one of our undercover police officers this morning and a customer overheard and joined in the conversation and said he had just gotten a text from his neice claimimg that she was under the desk and shots were fired---I told him that could not be true, for one I am sure my cell would be going off and that this police officer's radio would be going off too. He left. I told the officer he should have locked him up for being stupid.

Very scary! I'm so glad everyone was safe!

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I definitely need more opinions. Half of me agrees with each of you!!!

Well here's mine! Doesn't hurt to call & just kindly mention that you found the card & it was in fact correct just to let them know that it wasn't entered in the system so they can watch for that mistake in the future. :goodvibes

Thanks Julie. I was hoping you would reply. My SIL passed away last night and she is the only one able to go. My DH has an appt with his Dr tomorrow and is too upset to make the trip as this hits home pretty hard .Not only that but he would be a mess to boot.

I'm so sorry Arlene! My thoughts & prayers go out to you, your DH & family!

Txs everyone

I will let you know the outcome..but it looks like I may end up buying two dresses.. the Macy's one (yeah the most expensive:thumbsup2 ).. and a cocktail dress.

The gown I know will not go to waste with all the cruises we take..:goodvibes

I need to pick up a cocktail dress anyway for a wedding next month.. and yea I will wear it twice and will not tell my DD... :lmao:

Sounds like a good idea:thumbsup2
Weddings always seem so emotional..at least for us wenches;)

You would have thought, they would have considered this in advance, now there not going to buy extra server capacity just for us, so the logical thing is to move the 'release'date or time so there isn't a clash.
If they system couldn't cope with the Westbound and we have a double dip clash, we do not need crystal balls to foresee the future!

Now just wait for someone to misquote my Crystal balls! where's Julie?

Crystal Balls!!! :lmao: :lmao:

:lmao: :lmao: Ok, in my head "let them have it" becomes in reality diplomatically informing them of their mistake and the inconvenience they caused me:thumbsup2 If you're nice about it they will remember you and try to make up for it in the future maybe;)

My DH doesn't like anything confrontational and would not call either:lmao:

Okay...Opinions please.

I had a doctor appointment this morning. A 45 minute drive from my house.
I got there, and they had no record whatsoever of my appointment. We made the appt at our last visit. It was a follow up after a procedure.

They said I could wait and get "squeezed in"...but I had another appointment with our attorney back up here and only had 2 hours total, including travel time, so I told them I'd reschedule.

I got home and found the card they gave me with my appt on it. I had the correct date and time. But apparently, when they made the appointment that day, it never got entered into the computer system.

Now here's my question....should I let it go, or call and tell them?
Not like they'll do anything. But it irks me that if I missed an appt with the doctor, they'd charge me. Now I'm out the time and gas it took to drive all the way down there.

:confused3

That just stinks! I would definately bring the card with you to the next appointment - perhaps they will step up and the follow-up appt at no charge.

I knew what you meant Laurie! That's usually my way of letting someone "have it"! Just drop in a little sugar & you can catch a lot of flies! ;)

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Metro Police have made an arrest in Wednesday morning's Fern Creek Traditional High School gun incident. The incident led to a four-hour lockdown at two schools, affecting nearly 2,000 students.

Police said their 17-year-old suspect is not a Fern Creek student. Detectives spent much of Wednesday questioning the suspect's parents.

Police said the teen was stopped with two other teens in a stolen car on Russell Boulevard around 4 p.m. Wednesday.

Meanwhile, other parents have a lot of questions for the school district.

Louisville Metro Police surrounded the school building around 8 a.m. Wednesday. Shortly thereafter, concerned parents surrounded police.

Parent James Brown, like many others, spent the morning trying to reach loved ones inside the school.

“What are you doing? Are you laid down? Are the doors locked?” he asked.

“My daughter texted me and said they heard gunshots,” said parent Michelle Corbett.

Some parents paused for prayer inside Fern Creek Baptist Church, which served as a staging area and was where they learned the threat was real.
We do believe we definitely know there was a young man in the school with a gun,” Metro Police Chief Robert White told the parents. “No shots have been fired, no one's been injured.”

Metro Police said they believe the suspect was a student at Beuchel Metropolitan School who had a fight with a Fern Creek Student.

For nearly four hours officers searched and researched the high school and neighboring elementary school.

Shortly before parents were allowed to pick up their children, they were firing questions at JCPS officials about how a non-student entered the school.

“It was before school started. We have kids entering our building right at 7:30,” said Fern Creek Principal Houston Barber. “This individual may have come in with a group of students.”

“We can't make our schools prisons and work within this realm to make everyone else safe,” said Maurice Risner, head of Jefferson County Public Schools student safety.

Many students said they were just glad to be with family. Some felt they were much safer than their parents thought they were.

“We just heard that there was a gun and they just said there were no shots fired,” said sophomore Paige Webb. “So we weren't really concerned about it.”

Barber said things are safe, and school will operate as normal Thursday.

Metro Police said they will have officers in the area until the suspect is located.

I am so glad that everything turned out okay and no one was hurt. It completely amazes me how stupid people can be - and I agree, that officer should of locked that man up for being stupid!

You said it so much better than I did:lmao: I think Todd had visions of me yelling over the phone from the way I worded my reply:rolleyes1
I fume a bit and when I get over the initial anger, it usually comes out with a little sugar;)
Todds reply sounded exactly like what my DH would have said to me:lmao:

Mine too. Isn't it funny that the men tend to say "let it go"....but if someone messed up their work schedule....  it would be a whole different story!

( I DO love you Todd!)

That's sad, Arlene . . . my condolences to your husband. :flower3:

I've been thinking about your family and community all day. Glad its all over and everyone is safe.

Me too! They pulled officers off every district and sent them to the school today. NONE of the officers that come in to work told me until they had made an arrest that it was a real threat for them and that was after I knew that the school had been cleared. :scared1: :scared1:
My son--otherwise known as Mr. Information sends me a text that says---We can move around now

Thank goodness everything ended well . . . in the long run it was probably better for your nerves that you didn't know what was going on until you had him safely with you . . .

I think this is a good suggestion. Don't raise a stink, but at least let them know they were in the wrong.

Sorry to hear that Arelene. :grouphug: to your family.

The Bat Grandma story is one of those where "you had to be there".

I have no idea how it came about, other than seeing my mom chasing the kids through the house (all in fun) with her robe (or just arms) spread up like wings and saying in a low voice "baaaaat graaaaandma"!!!
The kids rolled on the floor with laughter.:rotfl2: Still do.

It's funny to see her do it, because she's barely 5 ft tall and only weighs 95 lbs. Yeah, sad, I had to take after her with my height (or lack thereof) and Dad with my weight.

Told ya, it's one of those "have to be there".

it made me laugh

Adam's school has been on lockdown now for about 2 hours. Someone called 911 to say that a student had a gun or appeared to have one. I have been texting him and he said he is OK. They aren't really telling the students what is going on. So I am glued to the TV this morning.

Paula, I'm just ketchin' up. Hope everything is OK.
