Where's the rum!??

I sure need it tonight! Geez what a day. It started with going out to lunch where the service was poor (we're used to that in this town though). Then we took DD to have blood drawn for allergy testing... Apparently no one knows how to draw blood on a 1yr old so they missed in both arms and then ya know moved the needle around try and find the vein. They got NO blood... We made them stop when she was alternating between holding her breath till she was blue and hyperventillating!

:grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug: for you and your DD. :( I can't understand why they can't do what they are being paid to do. DS was 18 months when he was admitted for dehydration. It hit him so quickly. :( He was asleep for five hours before they came to put the IV in him and said that they didn't allow parents in the room. Since I was 6 months pregnant I tried not to let the hormones rule and let them take him. When DH got there he saw me crying in the hall and heard DS screaming bloody murder. I could tell by the look on his face that I wasn't over reacting and walked right into the room to calm DS down. I told the nurse I was not going to stand out in the hall and listen to this any longer. My baby's arm looked like it had track marks. I calmed him down by reciting One Fish Two fish which we read before bed every night and told them to forget about his dried out arms, put it in his foot. They were concerned about his mobility. I told the nurse to forget about that since he had been sleeping for 5 hours, let me deal with it and get fluids into him ASAP. When I heard one of the nurses instructing the other how to insert the IV I gave them both the death stare and told them that my son was not a guinie pig and she was not to touch him any more. Later the lab nurse came in and pulled the same nonsense with pulling the needle in and out and moving it around. I told her to stop and the doctor would get the blood when he did rounds in another hour. It turned out she only needed to do a finger prick for what she needed.

:grouphug: Sorry, that took me to a bad place and I am really sorry you had to experience that today. :grouphug:

I had no idea what company Shutters uses. That's a huge help. I'll see if I can contact them. Thank you very much!!! :flower3:

BTW, that is also the site you can get the releases for the pictures you buy from Shutters to get them reprinted.

Oldest DS would *follow* to fit in..... I don't think Samantha cares if she fits in or if anyone likes her.... :rotfl: She's like me in that way!
Ruby's at a weird stage right now. She used to not care about fitting in and for the most part- like around kids at school and stuff she doesn't care ENOUGH to really change her personality and stuff like that... but in social situations I could see it happening. I mean it's not like she minds me really great to begin with- so it wouldn't take much to talk her into disobeying me is what I'm saying. LOL

I'll have to go read that! :(

We picked up a fragrance fan from Yankee Candle and have their Ocean Walk and Sun & Sand refills. We can put it on when where in the room and turn it off when we leave.

I got the Sun & Sand! Smelled great in the store so I hope it smells great in the cabin.

Kids are what this cruise is all about....little kids and us big kids (sometimes we make more of a ruckus than the little ones). If you don't like kids, you should cruise on another cruise line. Just my 2 cents!

Debi

DITTO!

Anyone plan on taking morning walks around deck 4?? I was going to be doing this with Craftymouse..but she and her family had to cancel.

Christopher (KSDISNEYDAD) and I will be out there or in the gym. We'll watch for you or anyone else out there.

You won't be interfering to say hi. :) We'll be the ones that look like they can't leave each other's sides. Hopefully we'll have those silly contented grins that newlyweds get. :) :rolleyes1

Oh, how cute! We will be celebrating 18 years on August 11th. Newlyweds are not the only ones that have those 'silly contented grins'. :rolleyes1 Shhhhh don't tell Christopher I said that!:rolleyes1

DH and I will be in the gym too - gotta keep the routine going as much as we can, even on vacation!

I think you'll like the Sun & Sand - we had one of the large candles and used to burn it all the time, until it ran out. Right now I have a Bay Breeze candle burning - makes me feel like I'm on the water right now.

Then DH took my car to the nursery and Home Depot 45 minutes away. He calls me because the alarm is going off and he can't disarm it or start the car or anything....

Think I'll head to Pirate chat after DD goes to bed :)

I called DCL directly and they verified all of my OBC for me (even from the TA).

OMG Terri! How absolutely horrible for your poor DD to experience and you to have to watch!

Lisa - how awful! :grouphug:

Reading both Terri's and your stories made me so thankful that DS didn't have to experience anything like this the one time he had an IV and blood work done.

On the other hand, that hospital experience also had a couple good things. :) They had a VCR set up that they could play tapes for the kids in their rooms so I brought a tape with a bunch of his favorite NickJr shows and also grabbed Toy Story. He hadn't wanted that one yet but stayed still in his crib/bed and was totally engrossed in it the entire movie. :wizard:

Maybe I can get away for a little bit and do some walking or treadmill in the gym. Be sure to bug me about it on the ship. ;)

Hey folks!! :wave2: LTNS...did I miss anything??

Well, I'm taking my doctors' (yes, plural, doctors) post-discharge advise to try and get more towards sea level because the 30% less oxygen up here isn't good for my health. (1.5 weeks in the hospital, 4 days comatose in ICU wasn't my idea of fun :sad2:)

So, in an effort to reduce the risk of another attack and for long-term health.....I GOT A NEW JOB!

We are transferring from

Pretty much the same job, just going to do it in Arizona (~2000 ft altitude) instead of Colorado (7500 ft altitude). For those of you who pay attention to such things, yes, we've only been here in Colorado about 19 months. We will probably move in the next few weeks, it all depends on when Global Mobility can schedule the movers to come pack up the house and load an available truck.

Acapulco Walking Tour to Fort

The Fort is just across from where we dock apparently - info is here http://www.acapulco.com/en/tours/fuerte/

I have posted a topic on the Pirate Zone Form. Pdarrah and Micmse familes will be walking to the fort in Acapulco, If anyone is interested please leave message on board. We will be leave at 9:00 am.and meet in the Atrium of the ship. Hope we will have lots of DISers going with for a nice little walk.

New information on where....when....... and how much......... is added to first post.

Hi guys,

I haven't been able to keep up with all the posts. For those of you that what even a lower view of the canal wall, we are in cabin 1056!

Also, not sure if this has made it's way around, but for those of you considering any of the art auction pieces - please read this!

Steve

As somebody who has bought from them, I will say this, you shouldn't be buying artwork for that much money if you don't know anything about art. I collect, but I only collect what I like (Disney!). I only buy what I know and what I want for myself. It sort of like DVC. It maybe an "investment", but I would never bought it if I wasn't going to use it!

Oh my goodness Jonesing!!! I hope that your move goes smoothly. Glad that you were able to find a job to transfer too.

For those doing the DCA Segway tour.......we did it last summer and enjoyed it alot. It was my 3rd Segway, DS's 2nd and the rest's 1st. We had a ball and everybody did great.

DH and I....and see I'm wearing my Screamin' mickey ears too...LOL

I called on 7/16 and got the DCA Segway tour on 8/16! This is my 3rd and Sue's 2nd. All were at EPCOT! A lot of fun, but your legs get tired.

Hey HC good to hear from you!! Sorry to hear about the medical problems. :grouphug: Looks like the kids are growing up quickly. Good luck on your new job.

do you mind me asking where/how/when (etc etc LOL) they are diving in Aruba? I've still got to work out something for DH to scuba dive on this trip and Aruba seems like the best place for us......

They are doing a resort dive with Red Sail Sports http://www.aruba-redsail.com/index.shtml

Check the website, since your DH is already a diver he would be doing a completely different thing than us.

If anyone knows anything about this outfit please let me know. DS came up with it from his Scuba magazine and the reviews were mixed. We probably can't go too wrong since we aren't divers and won't know the difference if it's good or not :rotfl:

Sure Mike. I do not profess to being a PS expert but I do know how to do underwater color correction. I read directions (only if I can't figure it out first) very well.

The more the merrier! Just didn't want to make it a scheduled event so we can play it by ear as to where, when and how.

Roger, DS would like to know if you have a Flicker account? He has only had his camera six weeks but is now an expert --> just ask him ;)

Actually, I give him a lot of credit, he has researched this camera to death and is spending his summer refining his photographic skills rather than playing Halo on the XBox with all his friends :surfweb:
