I am deathly, deathly afraid of heights, but I did it. And I LOVED it. I guess knowing that if something happened, I would only fall into the water made me feel somewhat better...but once I was up there and took a few deep breaths and enjoyed the scenery, I didn't want to come back down.

Stace,

I too get incredible "butterflys" in the stomach from heights. It is a fearful sensation whenever I glace over the edge of a tall place! So I too can relate to your reservations over the Parasailing thing. I did it once in Aruba and found I got over it THAT ONE TIME. However, I still get a wierd fear over height when exposed to such.

On another point... we finally got our kids applicatioons for US passports (or renewal) in today. Our schedule has been so tight lately. At any rate - it ran $60 for the passport plus $25 pp for in-person processing. Normal turn around is 4 weeks - so since we have less than 8 weeks to go - I thought it worth sharing we just did ours. So anyone else not hav ing them - well - you should pull them out to ensure they are going to be VALID during our travels or other wise obtain them if needed. And if you need them - I hope you hav your original birth certificates on hand - otherwise you're going to have to obtain an original copy from the issuing county with that "raised seal". In LA county this can represent an unusual complication if you need one super quick.

SO ... my dental appointment is in an hour - I gotta scoot in a few minutes.... :moped:

Crash I mentioned it in chat the other night, but in case you missed it...Mike got a huge chuckle out of your Chip & Dale pic! ;)

Somehow I can't see the appeal of crowding around you to sip from your leaking champagne stomach :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: :lmao: even if we set up a pyramid of glasses around you to cascade down . . .:rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Until you heal up, just send those bottles directly my way and bypass the middleman!

Or the manmiddle as the case may be.

I think that's a good idea. I think we'll do one pillowcase per child and then ONE frame (if I can figure out where to get a frame like that- that they can sign around it. did someone make that or what? I need help with that!) for us/our cabin. :) that shouldn't be too much, right?

Bip, you don't actually get the frame signed. Go to Michael's or Hobby Lobby and buy a large photo mat with a small photo opening. My photo mat was 11x14 and the opening for the photo was about 4.5x6.5. Then you can get the signatures in all the extra white space around the photo opening. When you get home, add your photo and then frame it! Hope that helps.

I did the suggestion of putting painters tape around the outside edge so none of the signatures were hidden by the frame. Worked very well!

Quick fly by posting. We are at`the Wilderness Lodge. Crowds were great over the weekend but the flood gates seem to have opened up today.
Getting ready to hit the hot tub.

Hope everyone has a great week!

Phew I go offline for a few days and miss a ton! Geez! hopefully nothing too important. We were visiting my parents, sister and Niece and caught a baseball game (Abq Isotopes vs Iowa Cubs) and it was a REALLY REALLY boring game!

Christopher, did you check to see if your credit card includes CDW/LDW insurance? I know some vans do not qualify but also check your car insurance policy as well, as I recently read a travel article that some do cover it.

What's CDW/LDW??

Okay...you've made me feel a tiny tiny tiny bit better about trying this :)

I'm thinking about maybe booking the premium seating for the electrical parade (as my moms b-day present --however, the electrical parade is my favorite parade every...so I have an alteriour motive shhhhh! :) ) Is anyone else doing that or for fantasmic?

Just to confirm been to the hospital and its NOT DVT, but a ligament strain around the Calf muscle. So thats good news no injections to worry about,

That's wonderful news Andrew! That takes a lot off of your mind I'm sure.

My mom just sent in my brother's application for his (and he's under 14, so it was more complicated with both parents having to be there) and got his passport back in just over a week. The turnaround right now is phenomenal! I wouldn't push it too much, but at least we know they're moving fairly quickly.

She did hip-hop. I don't even have a picture because we weren't allowed to take pictures that night. When I get her picture from the dance school, I'll post it. (Even though we hated her costume. I didn't realize hip-hop equals street walker:scared1: )

When we aren't allowed to take pics I take them without a flash.....

The dance school we use the girls (and boys -- but, it's usually girl costumes that are raunchy!) are always covered. One year my oldest dd's costume (she was 15 or 16) showed part of her stomach (when the costumes were ordered they were told the top touched the bottoms) so the dance teacher added the scarf (that came with the costume & they weren't using) to hers so you couldn't see her belly. :thumbsup2 From the audience it looked just like all the other girls costumes. My dd is long waisted, all the other girls tops touched the top of the bottoms.

Most of the costumes are one piece though.

I see many perfomances from other studios (my kids have done alot of group performances over the years) and I am always amazed (saddened) the way the girls dance -- provocative music and dance. And the parents are usually busy clapping and cheering for them! My 17dd was very upset this past October after watching a group of 8 & 9 yr olds dancing and shaking their rears.... She turned and asked me *How can those moms & dads be happy that their girls are dancing that way?*

BTW -- our school is not a *religious* school...in fact I think the Artistic Director and founder is probably an atheist or some type of Pagan! She just believes in good, solid dance instruction (all of the teachers have Dance degrees from 4 yr Universities, most of them from TCU) and modesty in dress and dance.

Ohhh, thanks for the info!

Ohh, I never would have thought of that! Thanks!

Just adorable!!! :lovestruc
Ditto- totally agree! All the little dancers are TOO ADORABLE!!!!!!!

Hi everyone. I have been MIA for a little while.... just busy with my boys and my nephew. He'll be staying with us most of the summer. I am feeling way out numbered. 5 males in the house and me. I look forward to my Friday night/girl night outings!!

We had a fun weekend. The boys went to Infineon Raceway in Sonoma this weekend to watch the races. They all received autographed hats.

I went to the Gallo company BBQ with my friend. It was their 75th anniversary. Lots and lots of fun.

I'm not even going to try and read the old thread. I will try and start at the begining of this one.

I hope everyone is doing well.

Penny

Ok...I did decide I had to make my FE myself......for good or for bad....I wanted something original I could use as something special. I'm posting a couple pics here so if anyone else is interested in how to make one let me know. I would never go so far as to say it's as nice as all the others, but in the end I made it special for this TOAL and if you are feelin' that same urge it took me less than a day to sew together after having the fabric and images and spending little time designing it. The sewing was not a big deal.

That turned out really cute!

So...I thought parasailing was sold out on CC....however, I just looked and at least 1 spot was still open...So I booked it :cool1: ! And am hoping not to regret it because I'm afraid of heights ... ;)

I'm terrified of heights,I take Xanax when I fly! I surprised myself and my DH when I went up on our 1st cruise. I had a blast!!

Cool - I'm all caught up! DS9 has a class today from 9-3, so we are leaving later than usual so I can drop him off on my way to work. The extra time allowed me to do a little reading here. The class is called Dynamic Duo: Electricity & Magnetism. DS loves this type of stuff, so it should be fun. This type of thing is one of the perks of living only a few miles from the Fermilab Accelerator Laboratory. He is going to 2 other programs there this summer: Noodlin' with Newton (3 days) and Camp Invention (5 days).

Pamela

Sounds like lots of fun! 10ds would love those things!

OMG!!! 4 1/2 hours!?!?! Those poor kids!!! DD's recital was Saturday afternoon and it was just over an hour. All of the dances were to TV show themes. Some were just a couple minutes long ... perfect!

Now that is a dance recital I would like! ::yes::

Now DD wants to know why her dance pictures aren't on here so ... the ballet was to the Adam's Family theme song and tap was to the Muppet Show.

Great pics!!! I may post some of 6dd's recital later!

I have to ask a question of the other dance parents who have been at this for years. There was a girl in DD's class who stopped coming 2 months ago. She was not there to learn the entire routine to either dance. Her mom wouldn't let her come because she wasn't doing well in school. She showed up for the pictures. She didn't come to the last class. She didn't come to the dress rehersal BUT she showed up at the recital. Would your schools have allowed her to even get on the stage? She threw DD for a loop because they moved her from No. 1 position in the tap number (different count for the opening move) to the No. 2 position which moved her from an A to a B for the next move. She was a trooper but I don't think that it is fair for the other kids in the class when that happens. Just wondering if I am being a "studio mom" being upset when I saw this happen and the look on DD's face through the dance.

UGH!!! Those decisions are never easy!!!! I am so sorry that your dd had to change her counts -- that is unfair!

That's really good! ::yes::

Me again, and totally off-topic. But....I actually cooked dinner last night....and I just want to tell you all how spoiled we are going to be.
But anyway....potatoes boiled over, and left spots on the stove.
As I was getting ready to clean it....this is what I saw....no touch-ups...no kidding:
