OK at the request of Andrew here are a few questions for the ladies about their clothing plans...

1) Do you plan to dress up for Formal night? What about Semi Formal?

2) Do you already have your outfits planned or is there some last minute buying and planning to do?

3) Will you have anything done in the spa or salon before any of the dress up nights or will you do hair and make up in your cabin or just go as you usually are?

4) Swim wear.. All in one \ one piece costume? Bikini? Tankini?

5) How many pairs of shoes will you take on board? What footwear will you take?

My Answers:

1) Do you plan to dress up for Formal night? What about Semi Formal?
Yes - I don't get chance at home very often so the cruise is a good excuse

2) Do you already have your outfits planned or is there some last minute buying and planning to do?
I have a knee length black dress I bought for semi formal night. I would like a long gown for formal night but if I don't find what I am looking for at a reasonable price I can manage!

3) Will you have anything done in the spa or salon before any of the dress up nights or will you do hair and make up in your cabin or just go as you usually are?
It will depend on prices, I would love to get my hair done but not sure of salon prices. If not I will do it myself.

4) Swim wear.. All in one \ one piece costume? Bikini? Tankini?
All in one or at a push a Tankini but no way on earth will I bare my post baby tummy in a bikini! Too shocking for words. I am not dreading swimwear though as I have lost 22lbs so far and hope to lose a few more before we leave so feeling a lot more happy about the prospect of swimming costumes at the beach \ pools etc...

5) How many pairs of shoes will you take on board? What footwear will you take?
Hmmm:
Strappy Sandals
Fancy Flip Flops (pretty ones that are ok for wearing with proper clothes not grubby old slopping around in flip flops!
Trainers
Day sandals

Since the DH and DS is sitting here with me...you will get many answers.

1. Will you use the internet on ship, if so package of time, or pay as you go.
We will not be using the internet on the ship. There are 2 possible exceptions to this. First, I could be contacted for a job and then I might need to use it. Second, I haven't figured out if we have to check in for our flight...might just have my sister do it for us.

2. Will you try to see a Disney film on board, if so what one, new/old, and in the Buena Vista, on the goofy pool large screen, or the premier, in the WD Theatre.
We are going to try to see UP if it is showing. I am also curious if the new movie, G-Force will be showing. We might also check out the large screen over the pool one night...just depends on what is showing and what we feel like doing.

3. Will you go to any other entertainment other than the main shoes, i.e. Studio Sea, Beat Street, with Rocking bar D or Diversions? Will you want to see some sport?
Me - I would like to try some of the family events. Also, will find adult entertainment in the evening.
DH - I just follow DW.
DS (Ben) - Just the regular show.

4. What food do you wish to try for the first time on the cruise?

Me - Scallops
DH - Caviar...just a taste unless it is good.
DS - Steak...maybe
DD - She is not here right now but probably won't try anything new.

5. Do you know Port and Starboard, forward, aft, and midship, and what a tender is? Or do you or someone in your family get lost somewhere.

Me - I am the getting lost sort of person
DH - Pretty much got it.
DS - No clue.
DD - Can you say "blonde"...she has NO clue and does not care to!

6. Will you rebook onboard if so for what cruise.

Me - Hmmmm...
DH - Depends if DW has a job
DS - YES!

7. Will you purchase a photo package, or single photos, formal pics, or bring your own only.

DW - I get the total say in this...photos are important! We will probably go with a pretty good size photo package. The new photo CD is appealing because I could share the cost with DSIL who will be with us.

8. Will you get to port early/late, and if early try to get a Palo slot or change dinner early/late rotation?

DW - We will be there early. I have things to do...fix Palo stuff, kids club stuff, possible dining rotation change, etc.

DH - I am driving...so we will get there when I get them to port but I am always early. This means I will probably be waiting for my really slow sister that morning.

9. What’s your favourite main show? Or if a new cruiser, what’s the one you want to see the most?

DW - I liked the show and am looking forward to seeing Twice Charmed since I have never seen it.

DH - I don't like The Golden Mickeys. Looking forward to anything new I haven't seen.

DS - Same as dad.

10. Non DCL, Tell us something about you that we do not know already, something special.

DW - Stayed in a tent village in the jungle, left handed and dreams of going to Africa
DH - Loves hockey (Go Gophers/Wild), left handed and has a twin sister (coming on the cruise with us)
DS - My ear is in my throat! Seriously...part of it is! I had a hole in my throat when I was born!
DD - Reads many books a week and has a weird part cat that eats the fur off his stomach

Love the questions Mel!

1) Do you plan to dress up for Formal night? What about Semi Formal?
As most of you know, I found a big bright formal dress! For semi formal, I have this great tea length black dress. For Palo dinner, I have this really simple dress (to the floor) that I wore last time and I will wear it again.

2) Do you already have your outfits planned or is there some last minute buying and planning to do?
I am trying to get my outfits planned. I think I am close to being ready. There are a few last minute things I need that I am watching sales/clearance racks closely for. I learned last trip that I will not need nearly as much as I thought I did. I tend to find a few comfortable outfits and switch them up.

3) Will you have anything done in the spa or salon before any of the dress up nights or will you do hair and make up in your cabin or just go as you usually are?

I will not have anything done in the spa/salon...too much money. I will do my own hair and make up while taking breaks and sipping wine on the veranda! Much cheaper and so relaxing!

4) Swim wear.. All in one \ one piece costume? Bikini? Tankini?

I have come to the conclusion that I am too old for a bikini (and not really in shape for it either!). I have a tankini sort of swimwear that I will bring with.

5) How many pairs of shoes will you take on board? What footwear will you take?
My goal is 3 pairs of shoes...semi casual black flat sandals, Tivas and flat silver dress shoes. I MIGHT throw in my black heels because they look so much better with my semi-formal dress but that takes up so much room just for one outfit.

Since the DH and DS is sitting here with me...you will get many answers.

1. 10. Non DCL, Tell us something about you that we do not know already, something special.

DH - Loves hockey (Go Gophers/Wild), left handed and has a twin sister (coming on the cruise with us)

WOOHOOO! Someone else who likes hockey!! (Go Friars!!/Go Engineers!!!)

...and I missed that question!..now back to working on my FEs....

OK at the request of Andrew here are a few questions for the ladies about their clothing plans...

1) Do you plan to dress up for Formal night? What about Semi Formal?
Yes, both nights, our Palo evening is semi-formal night. May also pack one more dress because they are comfy and I don't have a reason to dress up at home.

2) Do you already have your outfits planned or is there some last minute buying and planning to do?
I have clothes, but I am always on the search for something new. Hoping Kohls will have a lot marked down before the trip.

3) Will you have anything done in the spa or salon before any of the dress up nights or will you do hair and make up in your cabin or just go as you usually are?
Was thinking of the scalp massage since it's only $26, heard good things about hair cuts but don't know if timing will work.

4) Swim wear.. All in one \ one piece costume? Bikini? Tankini?
Tankinins, definately. Just bought 2 new ones from Lands End.

5) How many pairs of shoes will you take on board? What footwear will you take?
Sneakers, flip flops, casual sandals, dress shoes.

Now ask me how many bags I'm bringing: beach bag, casual purse (need to carry EpiPen and camera at all times), dress purse, hip purse (for Disney part), small cooler bag-either Disney Cruise or insulated tote.

Good Evening Everyone!

Just wanted everyone to know that I updated the website...complete with photos of our lanyards!!!!

I will send out the information to each person who has ordered lanyards tomorrow. I was going to try to do it tonight but I have got to go get Emily from dance.

I also put some new photos on our just for fun page and as usual, added a new blog page.

Have a good night!
Jen

1) Do you plan to dress up for Formal night? What about Semi Formal?
Yes, I have a formal dress and semi-formal have a few dresses to choose from used to dress-up a lot for events for DH's last job. So have several to choose from.

I have to just pick out what I am going to wear not too much shopping needed here.

3) Will you have anything done in the spa or salon before any of the dress up nights or will you do hair and make up in your cabin or just go as you usually are?

Going for a massage the day of Formal-Night other than that that is all!!

Do I have to answer this one? LOL!!!!!!

5) How many pairs of shoes will you take on board? What footwear will you take?

But def. black strappy sandels, my tan strappy sandels too, and flip-flops, then not sure what else...........

1. Will you use the internet on ship, if so package of time, or pay as you go.
No internet for us. But DH will have his blackberry to check on and off for work.

2. Will you try to see a Disney film on board, if so what one, new/old, and in the Buena Vista, on the goofy pool large screen, or the premier, in the WD Theatre.
We are going to try to see UP if it is showing. Also, we will see G-Force if it is playing, and the Hannah Montana Movie again since we loved it...

3. Will you go to any other entertainment other than the main shoes, i.e. Studio Sea, Beat Street, with Rocking bar D or Diversions? Will you want to see some sport?

May try to see Alfred and Seymour if they are on again. Last cruise they were GREAT....

4. What food do you wish to try for the first time on the cruise?

Umm, not sure on this one....

5. Do you know Port and Starboard, forward, aft, and midship, and what a tender is? Or do you or someone in your family get lost somewhere.

Umm, I think we have it down now. DH had it down on the first cruise. I still get lost....lol!!!

6. Will you rebook onboard if so for what cruise.

Maybe, will book a dummy date again or wait to rebook on our 2010 cruise....

7. Will you purchase a photo package, or single photos, formal pics, or bring your own only.

Maybe, a small photo package. Or the CD!! ~~Can someone tell me more about the CD??

8. Will you get to port early/late, and if early try to get a Palo slot or change dinner early/late rotation?

We will get there early like we usually do. I need to meet with our groups cordinator to ensure our group reception is all set-up and that dining is all set-up for the group!!

9. What’s your favourite main show? Or if a new cruiser, what’s the one you want to see the most?

They are all my favorites. I cry on the last night at the last show though....Sooo sad that the cruise is over....

10. Non DCL, Tell us something about you that we do not know already, something special.

Hey as you like these, questions and thought provoking plans for the cruise here are some more>

High-ImpactInterviewQuestions.jpg

1. Will you use the internet on ship, if so package of time, or pay as you go.
I HOPE ;) that DGH won't be working while on cruise !! He HAS to let his office know  where they can reach him ....

2. Will you try to see a Disney film on board, if so what one, new/old, and in the Buena Vista, on the goofy pool large screen, or the premier, in the WD Theatre.
I'd like to try the large screen on the Goofy pool , never done !!

3. Will you go to any other entertainment other than the main shoes, i.e. Studio Sea, Beat Street, with Rocking bar D or Diversions? Will you want to see some sport?
We are not "night people" ... :confused3 though we might pay a visit to one of those clubs ...

4. What food do you wish to try for the first time on the cruise?
DGH would answer ... HE WANTS TO TRY EVERYTHING !!!!!!!!!!!!
I myself :rotfl2: always try each and any dessert !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

5. Do you know Port and Starboard, forward, aft, and midship, and what a tender is? Or do you or someone in your family get lost somewhere.
YES, I should know ... after many cruises ... :rotfl: MY problem is ... I often "forget" my EXACT cabin # ..............
6. Will you rebook onboard if so for what cruise.
Don't think so , we are planning to go back and visit :hippie: Hawaii islands again next Summers ...

7. Will you purchase a photo package, or single photos, formal pics, or bring your own only.
WE love formal photos , not many opportunities all year round to REALLY get dressed up...
We always wait and see what / how many photos we like ... then decide what to buy !

8. Will you get to port early/late, and if early try to get a Palo slot or change dinner early/late rotation?

THANK YOU Andrew !!!

Have you seen this ???

http://www.disboards.com/showthread.php?t=2215827

I would love to have a CD with all my cruise photos :goodvibes ... though that price seems high to me ... :confused3

I'll ask DHG how much we usually spend for purhasing our formal photos etc. Can't remember .

Any thoughts ??

laura

Good Morning Laura! :wave2:

I also would LOVE to have the CD. After reading the price though I do not think it will happen. It is possible that I would split the cost with my SIL but it still would be really expensive.

I usually get the CD at WDW because the cost is reasonable, you can add borders/special things to your pictures and you end up with tons of photos.

This CD does not seem to be the same sort of deal as the cost is not reasonable IMHO and you cannot add any of the borders to the photos. While I like just the plain photos and sometimes don't want the border, it seems for the price you should have the option.

I will not say I won't get it yet...photos are one of the most important parts of the trip. Our family tends to not really buy much on our trips except for photos.

What do others think about the price?

I think that is $400 I will not be spending for a cd. Like pass vacations I take my own photo's for the most part. :rotfl2:

I have just admired the lanyards !!! (on Jen's site )

THEY ARE REALLY GREAT !!!! :cool1::thumbsup2 we love them !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The price is horrible but if I split it with DSIL, it might be worth it. I also take my own photos and have a great camera. I think we will stick with buying individual photos or a package of pictures we can't live without and then know that I will take a huge amount of great pictures as well!

Glad you like the lanyards. It is a bit scary to be in charge of something that is for everyone! I just hope that everyone likes the lanyards and thinks they turned out nicely.

ok at the request of andrew here are a few questions for the ladies about their clothing plans...

1) do you plan to dress up for formal night? What about semi formal?
I have purchased a long skirt ( black , made of ?sp voile ) with multiple layers, love it !! I can wear that skirt with a white or black top - the whole thing seems completely different !! I will also wear a short "jacket" ( matching black /white ... with silver reflections ) on it , as the ship airconditioning is usually too chilly for me !!!
With one outfit I should be ok for both nights ( we need to save space in our luggage , due to weight restrictions on planes...)

2) do you already have your outfits planned or is there some last minute buying and planning to do?
My closets are full with any kind of casual / resort casual /tropical dresses ... I do not need to buy any outfit at this point !! BUT the big deal with me is that I would love to pack many of the dresses / skirts I like ... while DGH is "controlling" what I think to bring and always grumps :
mickeys_dreamers_i00001c.gif
EITHER you leave home a few outfits OR YOU stay home !!! :rotfl2: NO PLACE for everything :rolleyes1:eek::angel: on the plane !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :rolleyes1:lmao:

3) will you have anything done in the spa or salon before any of the dress up nights or will you do hair and make up in your cabin or just go as you usually are?
As I like to dress up , I also love to have my hair done at the salon : it's my cruise TREAT !!! :yay: I'm also good in doing my own hair / ;) have some "tricks" which I bought here in a salon sp? supplying shop !

4) swim wear.. All in one \ one piece costume? Bikini? Tankini?
Hey , I'm in my late fifty !! :rolleyes1 I'll go for a tankini ... which covers :lmao: what I need to cover !!!!!!!!!!! ( I never felt good in a bikini ... :confused3 , I'm rather "Italian-old-style" when it comes to beach attire ... :rotfl:

5) how many pairs of shoes will you take on board? What footwear will you take?
3 not more !!!
mickeys_dreamers_i00001c.gif
I have bought a nice pair of BLACK dress sandals for the nights (formal or not !! ) ;) I'm also bringing casual sandals for the days at WDW / possibly for shore excursions as well and sneakers !! I've also got cute RED trainers ... oops , that makes 4 !!!!!!!!

THANK for your questions Mel !! It was fun answering !!! laura :goodvibes

Hi Jen
Just checked out the lanyards and they look great!!
Now we can all say that our cruise is NEXT MONTH!!! Looking forward to meeting everyone.
Lyn

If this works its going to be a mega quote post, so apologies if I didn't quote yours, and thanks Mel, I couldn't get away with asking about Bikini- Tankini? as I would have got a reputation, but surprised no one went for the Borat Thong!:lmao:

And before anyone says Disney cruise, on the repo, seen it, well seen a lot of it;)

Great answers all, I did read but too much to quote individually. But does help everyone plan and get in the mood!

We've had a busy few days here so I've been hit and run on the boards. Not much time for extended posts (but I'll make up for that here!).

Jen, we've definitely budgeted for the Shutter pictures. I was blown away at how great the family shots were on our first cruise. We are also allowing both kids a certain amount (TBD) on an arcade card. They have been doing extra chores for months and saving money for this. And once we knew we were going on the cruise, my parents (snowbirds in FL) have periodically sent them cards with Disney dollars for good report cards etc - it is starting to add up...we have already allocated for tips too. And have a coin bucket at home that we throw loose change in. We'll roll all the money from it and that will be our $1 room service tip money (Kevin's favorite part of the cruise! :goodvibes)

Mel - I am sooo envious of your scrapbooking skills. And the time commitment it takes to sit down and coordinate them.

And it seems that I must have missed a few posts. here are my answers to Andrew's questions...

Do you allow your kids to charge on their KTTW Card. Nope. All charges have to have mom and dad’s approval.

If so do you tell them there is a limit? They both have a budget and have to stay within that budget for their souvenirs.

If aged 8 to 10 do you allow them to self check in/out? No, even though DD will be 9….Haven't told her yet though...:rolleyes1

Do you have a Kids contract for the cruise? IE Do not play with elevators, do not go in other peoples rooms, do not stay up beyond 12 midnight? meeting point at set times during the day, do not over eat? We have discussed rules but didn’t formalize them in a contract. I also made my DS14 watch the youtube video of kids behaving badly on a Diney cruise to show what would cause me to blow a gasket. While he’s a well behaved kid, I don’t want the teenage crowd/peer pressure mentality to take control… :scared1:

Do you take your kids on shore trips or allow them to go on teenage ones or stay on ship? Right now we are all scheduled together. The only one that might change is if DS decides to do the teen adventure one on Castaway cay. Any other teens out there doing this one?? .

Do they 'have to' eat with you? say Dinner. Eating dinner together is a must and is non-negotiable. We are travelling with my SIL and family and the plan is that the families will do what works best for them during the day and we’ll all meet up at dinner. (one caveat to this – the adults get one meal at Palo!!) Plus, like other families with busy kids and parents, we don’t always get to sit down together for dinner together. This is our second cruise and our family dinners were a highlight of the cruise..

. Will you use the internet on ship, if so package of time, or pay as you go. Going internet-free for 7 days…yikes!!

2. Will you try to see a Disney film on board, if so what one, new/old, and in the Buena Vista, on the goofy pool large screen, or the premier, in the WD Theatre. You bet. DD09 wants to see UP, and maybe the Hannah Montana movie again (from which my DS14 will run away as far as possible!). We liked watching the movies on the Jumbotron at night – kind of like a drive in movie without the car!

3. Will you go to any other entertainment other than the main shoes, i.e. Studio Sea, Beat Street, with Rocking bar D or Diversions? Will you want to see some sport? We will try. We missed a lot of the adult entertainment on our first cruise and are hoping to do a little more on this one…

4. What food do you wish to try for the first time on the cruise? I am not an adventurous eater but would like to try something new at least once during the cruise. I’m not familiar with the menus so I’ll just wing it.

5. Do you know Port and Starboard, forward, aft, and midship, and what a tender is? Or do you or someone in your family get lost somewhere. Normally I can get lost in a phone booth but for some reason have no problem on the ship….

6. Will you rebook onboard if so for what cruise. I don’t think so. It will probably be a few years before our next cruise.

7. Will you purchase a photo package, or single photos, formal pics, or bring your own only. Definitely purchase a package. The family pictures were fantastic – better than I have seen at some professional photographers at home. We’ll also have our own camera for informal shots.

8. Will you get to port early/late, and if early try to get a Palo slot or change dinner early/late rotation? We will get there early. Even though DH was online at midnight for Palo brunch reservations he kept receiving an “error’ message. And, of course, there is no help desk available at midnight to assist. And there was nothing left by morning. Hopefully we'll be able to get something!!

If I missed something I'll add some more later!
Jude

LOL Andrew ok I will post some ladies attire questions but first here are my answers to your last lot:

1. Will you use the internet on ship, if so package of time, or pay as you go.

I will try not to. We have internet access post cruise at the villa but if I do check online whilst onboard it will be a quick email home and a sneaky check on the business website to check that in my absence my Mum has been nice and busy sending out orders!

2. Will you try to see a Disney film on board, if so what one, new/old, and in the Buena Vista, on the goofy pool large screen, or the premier, in the WD Theatre.

I saw The Princess Diaries on my last DCL cruise which was fun. I may catch a film with Izzy or possibly a late one if there is one Darren is not interested in that I want to see.

3. Will you go to any other entertainment other than the main shoes, i.e. Studio Sea, Beat Street, with Rocking bar D or Diversions? Will you want to see some sport?

I doubt it, well not in the evening as with the little ones Olivia certainly won't cope with endless really late nights and there is only so much Flounders time I want to book her in for!

4. What food do you wish to try for the first time on the cruise?
I have never eaten Scallops and I may well give that a try...

5. Do you know Port and Starboard, forward, aft, and midship, and what a tender is? Or do you or someone in your family get lost somewhere.
Yep, I think I have that sorted.

6. Will you rebook onboard if so for what cruise.
I will probably book a dummy date. I REALLY wanted to do the Baltic in 2010 but it was out of our price range coming just one year after this trip. I am lucky to have had the choice whether or not to return to work full time after having the children and we both opted for me to be at home most of the time - that is great but the downside is with only one full time wage holidays are a more limited commodity!

7. Will you purchase a photo package, or single photos, formal pics, or bring your own only.
Yes, as per my previous post I know I will spend most of my additional expenses on photos.

8. Will you get to port early/late, and if early try to get a Palo slot or change dinner early/late rotation?
Early - I want to try the pools before it gets too crowded.

9. What’s your favourite main show? Or if a new cruiser, what’s the one you want to see the most?
I loved Disney Dreams. I have never seen Twice Charmed and am looking forward to that.

10. Non DCL, Tell us something about you that we do not know already, something special.
I was once on the UK TV show called "You Bet!" hosted by a minor and very arrogant celebrity called Darren Day. I was part of a sports team on there. The programme featured people doing various challenges (sports \ knowledge \ memory etc...) and a panel of celebrities who bet on whether they would win the challenge! We were doing a Tchoukball challenge (don't ask just google it!) and despite completing the challenge easily in rehearsals we failed because the director cut 30 second off our time to make it more difficult! (Can you tell I am still bitter about it!)

Hey as you like these, questions and thought provoking plans for the cruise here are some more>

High-ImpactInterviewQuestions.jpg

1. Will you use the internet on ship, if so package of time, or pay as you go.
Will need to use it at least once to check in online for our flight home

2. Will you try to see a Disney film on board, if so what one, new/old, and in the Buena Vista, on the goofy pool large screen, or the premier, in the WD Theatre.
I love movies so I'll see them anywhere-ArielVision, Buena Vista theater...I guess it depends on what's playing and what else is going on. If nothing that interests us is going on in Rockin D then we may hit a movie.

3. Will you go to any other entertainment other than the main shoes, i.e. Studio Sea, Beat Street, with Rocking bar D or Diversions? Will you want to see some sport?
Love Rockin D, always say we should spend more time in Diversions-definately last night for Pub Night with crew staff, it's become a Do Not Miss for us.

10. Non DCL, Tell us something about you that we do not know already, something special.
Hmmm....I'm a cub scout leader and help run our pack (DH is Cubmaster, but I do most of the work), Love Food Network, Love to bake and I'm looking for my purpose (Kind of a joke between DH and I).

FedEx just came with a delivery! I almost have all the "parts" of my FE gift. The kids and I have been working on them each time something is delivered and it is almost time to wrap it up!!!! I am really excited pass out the gifts this year!!!

DD just got up (yes, I know what time it is but yesterday she danced from 4PM-9:30PM :scared1:) so we are off to the grocery store! We are having a nice, lazy summer sort of day...wish the weather was better and warmer as it is only 60° here today. We have had about 3 hot days but the rest of summer has not been so warm.

This afternoon the kids and I will be working on sorting and packaging the lanyards to fit in my suitcase! I also need to send my SIL a few reminders to keep her motivated!

Later!
Jen
