ITALIAN food ???? :thumbsup2 Where are you going to eat ???

HAVE FUN !!!!!!!!!!!! laura

Thanks Laura,

We went to a family owned place called Capri's they were celebrating their 5th Anniversary so all of their meals yesterday and Tues. were 50% so that was a nice surprise. Then we went to see the movie The Proprosal with Sandra Bullock it was soo cute....Then we stopped and got ice-cream on the way home. It was so nice but now it seems weird that Bruce is off to work and the kids are not here. I guess I should go and work-out and then clean this house for the weekend. We are having some family over on Sat. to celebrate the 4th of July........

It was a nice to be able to go out last night. The kids have informed me they are doing two more sleep-overs this summer....

How was your night last night??????

1) I know there are HUNDREDS of "best tips and secrets" in threads on the Dis boards but I want to know what each of you think is the ONE best tip for the cruise (or if you are a first time cruiser which tip you have read that sounds most useful \ good to know

Bring your own beverages on board...as someone who is trying to stick to a budget, this will be a huge help.

2) If it was all paid for you which DCL itinerary past, present or future would you like to sail on?

I would love to do a Mediterranean cruise! The cost is always way to high for our family.

3) If you were in charge of DCL which route that they have NEVER sailed would you like to see as a new cruise?

I agree with Laura...Hawaii would be a great cruise destination. The only problem is that it is another cruise that we probably would not pay the price for.

4) If you could pick ONE stateroom gift (excluding photo packages and spa things) as a freebie for this cruise what would you pick.

DCL Robes! We have a set from our last cruise but I hate to wear mine because I don't want to ruin it. I LOVE my robe!

5)Are you doing anything special to prepare for this cruise?

I would say it is all the jogging to prepare for the 5K. I would have never thought I would be working out to go on the cruise! It is a good thing though and I am happy to be getting in better shape.

OK at the request of Andrew here are a few questions for the ladies about their clothing plans...

1) Do you plan to dress up for Formal night? What about Semi Formal?

Of course we are going to - found dresses for my kids, myself and my DH will be in a Tux.

2) Do you already have your outfits planned or is there some last minute buying and planning to do?

In processes currently - should be okay but who doesn't like to shop up to the last minute?

3) Will you have anything done in the spa or salon before any of the dress up nights or will you do hair and make up in your cabin or just go as you usually are?

Spa treatments a must and already signed up - however not hair or nails. Will have nails done before the cruise.

4) Swim wear.. All in one \ one piece costume? Bikini? Tankini?

A bikini or tankini are you nuts!!!

5) How many pairs of shoes will you take on board? What footwear will you take? As many as I can get in the suitcase. I do have 2 DD's as well so shoes may be an issue.

Ok how about some more questions??::

1.) What is your best Family vacation ever or family vacation memory?

At the top are the DCL repos in 2005 and 2008 via Panama, I also love Greece, and Lindos in Rhodes.

2.) Ladies, what is your favourite clothing store? ~~Heather stop laughing at this question.(Will explain later):lmao::lmao:

No comment, but if anyone ever mentioned Primark, I am off this thread for ever!

3.) What family pets do you have if any and what are their names?

We have had dogs in the past, Rex and Shandy, but none now, too hard to look after.

4.) What family traditions do you have?

We do not have any really, bar our 'big' holidays

5.) If you won the lottery what would be the first thing you would do with your winnings?

Not tell anyone!! Go on holiday and just consider the impact, take it all in, and decide slowly

6.) What is your current occupation as well as your spouses?

QUESTIONS FOR THOSE WITH KIDS ON THE CRUISE AGED 8 AND UP?

Do you allow your kids to charge on their KTTW Card.
Yes, we allowed Elin age 11 on the last trip to charge, she is really responsible so we were not worried.

If so do you tell them there is a limit?
She has been saving so she will have her own spending money for misc stuff like the arcade or gift shop stuff. She will charge these things then pay us when we get home..I usually put this money in the Disney Jar for the next trip.

If aged 8 to 10 do you allow them to self check in/out?

Do you have a Kids contract for the cruise? IE Do not play with elevators, do not go in other peoples rooms, do not stay up beyond 12 midnight? meeting point at set times during the day, do not over eat? No, the only thing we required was for her to come to Dinner with us. We also had walkie talkie's and if she was leaving somewhere she would just contact us and let us know. We utilized the Navigator and she highlighted what she was interested in doing. We also tried to stay in the same area when by the pool so she could find us if needed.

Do you take your kids on shore trips or allow them to go on teenage ones or stay on ship? She will be going on the shore with us, she might do something with teens on Castaway Cay

Do they 'have to' eat with you? say Dinner.

Yes - Dinner

Ooohhh more questions, great :)

1.) What is your best Family vacation ever or family vacation memory?

Well pre kids it was either WDW with DH and Aunt, Uncle and cousins in 2004 or our honeymoon which was a med cruise in 2002. Compared to DCL the ship was not very fancy but we had a wonderful time and enjoyed some great ports.

Since having the children we have stayed closer to home but enjoyed a couple of trips to the Isle of Wight visiting relatives.

2.) Ladies, what is your favorite clothing store? ~~Heather stop laughing at this question.(Will explain later)

Difficult to say. I buy most of my nicer clothes in department stores like Debenhams which has lots of different stores all under one roof. I end up buying most of my basics like t shirts \ everyday trousers etc... from our supermarkets whose clothing lines have improved a lot over the years. MEssing about with the kids all the time I don't want to spend a lot of money on basic items that will just get trashed with paint \ mud etc...!

3.) What family pets do you have if any and what are their names?

We have two house rabbits called Snowy and Truffle, an outdoor rabbit imaginatively named "Big Rab" and as we live with my parents their dog has been adopted by Izzy and Olivia (but not Darren as he does not like dogs!) he is a Golden Retriever called Merlin.

4.) What family traditions do you have?

Hmmm, every Christmas we go to the ceramics store and paint a plate and an ornament, when the girls were babies we did the plates with their footprints, as Izzy has got older she has helped with the design or the painting.
5.) If you won the lottery what would be the first thing you would do with your winnings?

Well, I am utterly convinced that I WILL win the lottery so I have a plan in place! If I won now, after sharing some out wth family and friends I would book the best remaining category for a triple header back to back DCL cruise starting the last Baltic sailing, staying onboard for Dover to Barcelona and then for one last itinerary out of Barcelona!

6.) What is your current occupation as well as your spouses?

It's complicated!
My main job is being a stay at home Mummy!

I trained as a primary teacher but since having the girls I only do that one day a week.

In 2005 my Mum and I opened our online scrapbook supplies store. That is my second job, as part of that we run retreat weekends which are mainly my job to organise and I teach some of the classes there too.

I also dabble in photography and occasionally do some paid work, it started off with photographing friends and their children but has spread to friends of friends, and then their friends! If I had the time I would love to make this a bigger part of my life, perhaps when my children are at school I may step it up a bit and do a bit more.

For DH it is not complicated at all - he is a Secondary school (High School) teacher. He is in charge of his year group but he is also in charge of working with the children with challenging behaviour and who are in danger of dropping out \ getting in to trouble. They seem to respect him a lot more than most of the other teachers, he gets to make a difference by helping keep as many of them as possible on the straight and narrow, and get them through school with at least some qualifications.

Thanks for the questions :)

Mel

Hey as you like these, questions and thought provoking plans for the cruise here are some more>

[1. Will you use the internet on ship, if so package of time, or pay as you go.Pay as you go - will rarely use..

2. Will you try to see a Disney film on board, if so what one, new/old, and in the Buena Vista, on the goofy pool large screen, or the premier, in the WD Theatre.Probably, New

3. Will you go to any other entertainment other than the main shoes, i.e. Studio Sea, Beat Street, with Rocking bar D or Diversions? Will you want to see some sport? We like to stop in at a variety of places so we will probably go to several.

4. What food do you wish to try for the first time on the cruise?

5. Do you know Port and Starboard, forward, aft, and midship, and what a tender is? Or do you or someone in your family get lost somewhere.I never can remember what anything is called, but usually get around pretty good.

6. Will you rebook onboard if so for what cruise. No probably not, thinking of doing a Disney Adventure Trip to Ireland, and 2 weeks in St Thomas already scheduled for next summer.

7. Will you purchase a photo package, or single photos, formal pics, or bring your own only. Not a package, but if its really good maybe a singe...will take alot of pictures on our own.

8. Will you get to port early/late, and if early try to get a Palo slot or change dinner early/late rotation?Early, we need to change our Palo Brunch, we have to add another couple and more brunch to a different day.

9. What’s your favourite main show? Or if a new cruiser, what’s the one you want to see the most?I love them all...:lovestruc

10. Non DCL, Tell us something about you that we do not know already, something special. The whole family loves to Read, Travel and Scuba Dive....

1.) What is your best Family vacation ever or family vacation memory?

I think our best family vacation was our last trip to WDW followed by a 4-night cruise. It has always been one of my dreams to get to open the Magic Kingdom. On our last trip, I got the family to the MK early (wearing matching outfits) and we chatted with one of the security guys as we waited. He left for a bit and then came back and asked us if we wanted to do something really special...YES!!!! It was so incredible going in the park early, going back to Mickey's ToonTown to meet all the characters, ride the train with Mickey Mouse and then stand up there in front of all those people and "Open the Park"!!!

2.) Ladies, what is your favorite clothing store? ~~Heather stop laughing at this question.(Will explain later):lmao::lmao:

American Eagle - I am a jeans and t-shirt sort of gal for the most part and they have LONG jeans!

3.) What family pets do you have if any and what are their names?

We have 3 cats: Hagrid (yes, he is a giant), Frodo and Pippin'.

4.) What family traditions do you have?

Oh goodness - we have tons of them. There are vacation traditions, holiday traditions, etc. A WDW tradition is that we take a picture of Paul, Emily and Ben standing in front of one another by Space Mountain. It has been fun to watch the kids grow. A holiday tradition is that the kids and I make Lefse for the whole family for Christmas.

5.) If you won the lottery what would be the first thing you would do with your winnings?

We talk about this often - we would first make sure the money is divided the way we want among our families but THEN we would buy into DVC and plan out Disney vacations! I would like to think that I would take a trip around the world visiting all the WDW parks!!!

6.) What is your current occupation as well as your spouses?

I was a 6th grade teacher. I will have to see what sort of job I can get before school starts again since I was laid off due to budget cuts.

DH is a 5th grade teacher.
