threeoneals-
I was wondering the same thing a while back and it was "cruisin" who answered my question. It depends on where your from. I'm from Maine, we're lucky if the lake water gets above 65 all summer, and cruisin is from Canada, so she's in pretty much the same boat as I am. (no pun intended) But if you were from FL or GA, you MIGHT consider it too cold. I decided to just go and try swimming on the boat , in the Bahamas, on Castaway Cay. I figure if it is too chilly, there's loads more other stuff to do to keep us all entertained. Good luck in trying to decide, and keep checking back, someone elso might have a better answer than this.

Good answer sunny. :teeth:

I have been on many cruises in January and for the most part the weather has been quite nice. Warm sunny days, cooler at night and especially on deck when the ship is moving.

The ocean temperature might be a little chillier than tropical but I find once you get used to it, it isn't all that bad.

The air temperature is usally quite nice in the Bahamas and on Castaway Cay.

Now like sunny says, I'm from Canada and if I can sit on a beach with my toes in the sand and not freeze on a January day, I'm good :smooth:

thank you all for the wonderful birthday wishes! ann, loved your bday rendition. i believe it was you w/ a mike in your hand - karaoke! :goodvibes i had a nice, relaxing day yesterday w/my family. had to work today - very busy. hope everyone has a great week! :wave2:

Did u watch the World Cup yesterday? It was pretty interesting, DH doesn't like to see it go to PK's to decide the game.... I on the other hand love to see when it comes down to a 1 on 1. Even though I do feel bad for the keepers (alot of pressure) :guilty:

Hi Kelly, yes I did watch the World Cup final, I was so pleased that the Italians won. I hate it when a game ends in penalties, I can't watch them. England had them last week and we were rubbish, so got kicked out. It was a shame that Zidane got sent off for France, but you can't attack another player like that ~ overall it was a good World Cup competition

Hi-- am wondering if you know what the weather will be like in January in the Bahamas. Is it ok to swim on the ship and in the ocean? I want to go on this trip but don't want to freeze!!!! Any experiences? Thanks!

Hi there, threeoneals, we once cruised in December and the weather was unseasonably hot (in the 90's) and it was fab, I really hope we get great weather this time too. Let us know if you book it :thumbsup2

Mary ~ I'm pleased that you had a great birthday

:wave2: Hi to everyone else

Mandy :)

Mandy :)

I was glad to see Italy at the top as well! I wonder what would have happened if Zidane had kept his little head butting out of the game :scratchin I was suprised to see he got the best player award still... he is pretty good though.

threeoneals~ We cruised Jan 05 on the Wonder (it was our 1st cruise)! The weather was perfect, water was a little cool but it didn't stop us from our water excursions :woohoo: And now you see that we've booked again for Jan 07, I'm so excited! Keep in touch if u decide to go!

:wave2: everybody!! Hope everyones week is going well. It's Tuesday for those of you who work so much the days run together. I think I'm gonna take the kids to see Cars today!

Mandy, a few pages back we were discussing who is like which character on tv. ....You being Monica....Well, I don't know who I'm most like, probably Chandler, but I had to share that DD (5) is definatley like Joey. We call her Cora Tribianni because that girl  L*O*V*E*S  her sandwiches. Put anything between two slices of bread and she will eat it. :rotfl2:

Think we can convince the threeoneals to come along?

Come on O'Neals, you know you want to!! It'll be a great time even if your time in the water is very little! :Pinkbounc

Hello my sailing buddies! How's everyone? Passports, passports, passports.... got to hurry up and get them finished!!!

So much to do so little time!!! :cloud9:

thanks for the reminder. I filled the kids head with some bologna story yesturday about getting passports just in case we decided to go to Canada for a visit. They totally bought it. :thumbsup2 Not that we don't need passports to go to Canada or that we would never go there, but I was just rambling on some excuse as to why they needed passports. :teeth: It's scary to think how easy it can be to lie to the kids. :rotfl:
Speaking of Canada and passports...Robin, how will that work when you fly. We will use our passports minimally, but it sounds as though your will get lots of use.

Kelly- I may have DH talked into our next family vacation. :teeth: I was hoping to rent a beach house for a week in VA or anywhere down there. in late spring of 2008. Got any suggestions or referrals? :Pinkbounc

I've got some ideas! Are you interested in staying in a busy area or a laid back area?

Virginia Beach is a busy are w/ lots to do! They have an aquariam, motor world (go kart tracks & stuff), lots of shops, movies, this is a big tourist attraction:
http://www.vbfun.com/visitors/default.asp

Chincoteague is a laid back island but still alot of stuff to do! They have wild ponies, a movie theater

Cape Charles is another option. Small town, very laid back. Not as much to do as the other two! I do love the beach there though, kids can walk out far in the water and still be below the waist in the roped off areas!

Let me know if you need more ideas or if you need more info on the ones I listed. I'm in these areas often and can pick up stuff for ya!

She doesn't do that now, but she's quite a performer so I bet I could arrange it!! :rotfl2:

Im gonna check out those web pages now and bookmark them. :thumbsup2 Thanks so much. We're a really laid back kind of clan. ::yes::

Yes, we do use our passports a lot but we don't technically need them for much.

We use them mostly for crossing the border into the US, since we already have them anyways. We CAN get across the border with just a picture ID and a birth certificate.

Since we fly out of Detroit, we actually do not need to use the passports at the airport. We usually just use our drivers licences for picture ID purposes when we fly. They are much easier to handle than a passport because they are smaller.

We did require our passports for certain cruises that we have gone on in the past though and also when we went to Europe.

Another beautiful, :sunny: day here in good ole Va! Makes me want to sing a few Brady Bunch tunes :rolleyes1

~It's a Sunshine Day (Everybody's Smiling)~

I think I'll go for a walk outside now,
The summer sun's calling my name, I hear it now.
I just can't stay inside all day,
I've got to get out, gimme some of those rays.

Everybody's smiling (sunshine day),
Everybody's laughing (sunshine day),
Everybody seems so happy today in the sunshine day.

Oooh. Can't you dig the sunshine?
Feel the sun and the rays.
Can't you hear it calling your name?

P. S. I'm finally dragging DH to clerk of court to get passport
