I had a peregrine falcon (I think) in my backyard the other day. I had the pleasure guilty: ) of watching it eat a bird that it caught in my yard.

Poor little bird but it was interesting to see the falcon. And falcons have to eat too I suppose.

I think it is a red bellied woodpecker....at least thats what it looks like in my book....Im gonna look it up here on the net too...

Yes thats what it is....Not a common sight this far north they say....
I know this is the first time Ive seen one...

Did it have a totally red head Betsy or was it white on the top of it's head.

If it had white on the top of it's head then it's probably a Ladder-Backed Woodpecker. They look a lot alike.

Although I just noticed that Ladder-backed woodpeckers aren't usually on this side of the country.

It had a red head...with a little red across its beaktop...I think its a red bellied WP...and the funny thing is that the book said most red bellied WP dont have noticable red on its belly..just a little blush color...I saw the ladderbacked...I think they ranged in the texas part of the states..didnt they...Im not sure anymore Ive looked at so many WPs this morning

I found it....and according to this picture it was a female....

That was my first guess without even looking at the books.

We have them around here although I don't often see them.

I guess that is what happens when you book a trip less than a month away

Yes, I'm looking forward to it, because Liz is coming and we will hopefully get to hang out together some.

Also the fact that it will maybe be a bit warmer than here

I'm just keeping my fingers crossed for no major storms or anything to prevent us from getting to Florida.

I haven't packed anything yet but it's only a 3 day cruise with one extra night in Orlando. Doesn't take much to pack for that.

I keep telling Mike that we HAVE to go to WDW for my Birthday in July because you all will be there....BUT..Its not flying....He said "that would be cool...IF we had the time and the money"....So IF I win the lottery and Mike can quit his job...Then we WILL be there ......

Not long now for you!...Im glad you will have another op to go with Liz ...There will not be too many more of those....time has a way of passing befor you know it....and she'll be out of the house and making a life of her own...So enjoy your time with her...Its the memories that keep us goin, when we get old ya know?...BUT Maybe You can still look forward to DGC to take in the years to come

I hope You are doing well...the family also...We will still be going in Sept. if you can talk CW into letting you take the kids out of school....My DGSs will be 6 and 8 ...and would LOVE to have other kids to visit with!...
and Of course there is next June/July...with all my DGGs....

I was just over posting on the TKer thread....
Its my laundry day...So Im on my way to throw in a load...

Just took the dogs out...Wow you add a couple of dogs to take out and it takes quite a bit of time..But its really not that cold out there today...Maybe mid 30s...I dont mind that too much.....Normally maggie doesnt use a leash...but I dont need to worry about losing her with the leash on..and I have to be out there anyway...Im playing it safe...

What are your plans today?....
I KNOW you not packing yet... ....

Today I went out to put the garbage and recycling out and stayed out for 2 hours, puttering around the garage, cleaning stuff up etc.

It's beautiful outside today. The sun is shining and it feels just like spring

I didn't want to come in so I stayed out and enjoyed the day.

I have to take Liz for her hospital clinical at 12:30 and then I'm going into work myself for a bit. Hopefully not too long but you never know.

We got invitations to a wedding today. We haven't been to a wedding in a long time.

It was for our goddaughter, whom I didn't even know she was engaged She's been living with a man for the past few years though, so I'm not surprised.

I was excited about the wedding until I checked the calendar and see that Liz has a dance competition in Toronto on that weekend

We don't know what day she dances yet, could be Friday, Saturday or Sunday. Hopefully it will be any day but Saturday and we can all go to the wedding.

I can't believe you guys still have this thread going....wait, YES I CAN!!

I hope you are all doing well. Sounds like Robin is, gettin' ready for a cruisin weekend....Lucky, lucky!!

Things have been getting calmer and calmer by the week here. Basketball is over. Randall scored 3 pts for his team this season, all foul shots-granny style!!Eric won a 5-nt cruise on RCCL for Sept, and we are seriously considering going. If we don't, one of his employees can, but only one would and can really afford the time off. It would be to bad for it to get wasted, and two of the three stops are ones Eric and I have been dreaming about. (Key West for Eric and Cozumel for Me!) And next week we are going shopping for a new car for me!!

The kids are doing well in school. I'll be glad for spring when they don't need to where ski pants and boots every morning.

hugs to all, gotta go tend the kids....vacation, and Randall has a friend over!!
