7 New Countries in EPCOT

This is a great thread. A few notes. Morocco is the only pavilion sponsored by its country - the rest are sponsored by private companies. I think any new pavilions could be privately sponsored as well.

Maybe I'm smoking something, but I believe original plans for the world showcase had a second row of countries behind the first. It would be cool if they announced that they'd be fulfilling that plan now by opening a new country every two years for the next 20 years or so.

And on to my list of countries I'd like to see (not necessarily in this order):
Russia
Bora Bora (or some other south Pacific country)
Jamaica (or other Caribbean)
Australia
Egypt
Iceland
Brazil
Thailand
Greece
India

And do it right - throw some e-ticket rides into a few of the countries to make it worth while going there.

I would really like to see Poland...mostly because Mickey-shaped pierogies might make my Dad want to come down for a trip! :)
Love this thread it's fun. I think Brazil and Greece would be great too. Egypt would be spectacular and so would Spain.

My vote, although I clearly wouldn't be a deciding factor in it... mainly country sponsorship, but they would be:

Australia with a surfing or coral reef themed ride or movie.

Russia

South Africa because I would love another African country and I only foresee South Africa and Egypt ever being able to afford to put in a pavillion.

Brazil

But in the end, it's really all about what the country or a company from that country can do... Disney hardly pays for the pavillions afterall.

I'd love to see Ireland, Hawaii, and Africa.

... ? I hope I'm just really tired and am missing the joke. :headache:

Ireland would be cool, though. I'd also vote for Thailand (my aunt is Thai - AMAZING country) and Russia, and probably a South American country like Brazil or Chile or Peru.

I'll add my votes for:

Greece -- the food, the pastries! The Parthenon!
Russia -- St. Basil's, the Kremlin, Vodka!
Egypt -- Wouldn't a Sphinx be awesome?
Brazil (or something South American) -- the Amazon rain forest, meat on long skewers!
India -- the Taj Mahal, curries

Such possibilities!

I'm pretty sure one of the original plans to add more countries involved an additional lagoon, making the World Showcase sort of a big Figure-Eight. Maybe in the Boardwalk area?

Someone posted a really neat map of Epcot highlighting the vacant lots a while ago. I wish I could find it.

Hawaii and Africa are not countries. I tried to ignore but couldn't. Didn't mean to offend just inform. ;)

I remember in December 89 or Jan 90, the Orlando Sentinal published Disney's ten year expansion plan... some things, like the explosion of on-site resorts came to fruition... other things did not.

Listed (to the best of my memory) was plans for a Switzerland pavillion with the Orlando version of the Materhorn and possibly a Russian pavillion as well.

I would love for more countries, as long as they do NOT come with the 360 movies. (Enjoy the movies, hate that there is NO seats)

I would love to see
1. New Zealand
2. India
3. Egypt
4. Greece
5. South Africa
6. Switzerland (especially if it comes with another mountain)

Wow 7? I would love to see a few more.. Like Egypt with the spynx with a roller coaster..Spain a ride like mexico, Russia..

I have wondered if adding another country would mean, pushing back the international gate to the bridge between Boardwalk and Beach Club.
Seems to me the space where the gate is now would be room for another country.

and I wasn't trying to debate what countries (that's fine if you want to)
just curious as to where 7 might fit.

I would love to see Louisiana. I know, not a country but I would love to see it (the food mostly) somewhere!

I'm biased but I'd like Holland. I'd also love Spain, Egypt, Kenya, Australia and a South American country. And maybe some kind of representation of the Caribbean?

You already have it...it's call Port Orleans. Riverside and French Quarter.
As in New Orleans, Louisiana.

This is always an iteresting thread topic that sparks a lot of discussion.

I've seen on tv, and read in a few different sources that the original plan for EPCOT was to make the lagoon more of an hourglass shape. There would be a bridge between Italy and the US, with an small waterway into another lagoon area, with several more countries represented. The gondolas in the Italy pavillion were originally to be used for a planned ride. The American Pavillion was to be the gateway to the extra areas. Not entirely sure of the design, just passing on what I read and saw on the talkin' picture box.

Would have been a great idea, but $$$$ became the issue (doesn't it always).

I would LOVE to see the following 7 countries represented:
Russia
India
Brazil
Australia
Portugal (love their wine, plus it might be a good source for Madiera wine)
Isreal
Argentenia

I originally wanted another African nation, but then got to thinking, Harambe is a pretty good representation of Kenya. In fact, AK could do a great job of taking some of these countries. Get rid of Camp Minnie Mickey and put in either Australia, or South America. Or just expand the park to include these to unique biomes.

I would love to see Russia. They would have a field-day with the theming, and the architecture would be amazing.
THey should build it next to America, then put Alaska in-between with a spot you can stand on so you can see Russia from it.

;)

But seriously, Russia would be great with some of the architecture/culture they could represent.

russia would be great...especially for the F&W fest. they could do vodka tastings like they do with tequila in mexico:thumbsup2. and the architecture would also be a great addition as well....with the brightly colored domes and such.
