7 New Countries in EPCOT

In order to add another country, they would need to get funding/buy-in from that country. During the millineum celebration they built the big building over by Canada and had exhibits/booths from several other countries.

Yes, it would be nice to add another country or two as permanent pavilions; however, I'd rather see them update and add actual "attractions/rides" to some that are already there.

Some of these other countries, however, are represented in other areas of WDW -- the Poly resort, AKL and AK park, etc.

I'd really like to see them do something with the empty Health-type pavilion in Future World ... it was sponsored by an insurance company when it opened. The Imagination pavilion really needs a good update ... could never figure out why they couldn't do something really cool with Figment. Also, the Seas pavilion is really lame. Liked it better when it first opened.

Anyway - lots of potential with Epcot, but don't necessarily think another country is going to do it.

I agree Russia would be great, I also believe alot of cool theming could be done for Egypt. Australia having representation would be lovely as well!

Or maybe they could make a Brazil pavillion to hide the tour groups..*whistles innocently*

Let's go a step further why not put a WDW in Brazil? Makes sense to me on a lot of levels except my son would miss seeing all the barely dressed Brazilian girls. Last time we were there one of them just stripped off her shirt and walked around in her bra. :rotfl: He felt it was the best part of the trip.

I'd love to see a few more. Personally, I think Egypt would be a fantastic addition, with a lot of interesting things they could do with it!

YES! Egypt would be the best for visuals. How easy would it be to make a ride to go along with it? Then again they would probably stick Donald-Tut in it and ruin it as they did Mexico.

LOL, you said EXACTLY what I was thinking regarding a "boat ride" for an Egypt pavilion, LOL. That said, I really do think they could do some awesome stuff with it. Pyramids being the obvious, but a bazaar for shopping, tombs to explore etc. etc. I'd love it. :goodvibes

Looking at the Satellite view I count reoom for about 6 more countries

- 1 between Mexico and Norway
- 1 or 2 between China and Germany
- 1 betweeb Germany and Italy
- 1 between Japan and Morocco
- 1 between Morocco and France

I know Africa is in there but that is not taking up that much space.

Morocco is in Africa though.

Keep in mind that in order to add a new country, the country itself has to express interest and agree to a financial partnership (for both the development and building of the pavilion as well as annual maintenance and upkeep). Many countries have been approached, among them Spain, Australia, Russia, and Brazil. None have bitten.

:earsboy:

I would love to see some new countries:

Russia
Greece
Australia
and maybe Argentina or another South American country

Thank you...there was alot going on in my head last night...I should have gotten it...I'm lame, well, and have a Georgraphy Degree, so a little hyper-sensative... :hippie:

OT... but hypersensitive and with a geography degree, you may cringe at this story. Spanish class, freshman year of HIGH SCHOOL the teacher is looking for someone born outside of St. Louis. A student in the middle of the classroom raises her hand to ask "Is South Carolina in St. Louis?"

 Scary...

It always bugs me when I see a list of countries that goes something like this...

Mexico, Norway, Africa, Sweden, Germany, etc.,

Um AFRICA is not a COUNTRY...it's a CONTINENT, with MANY MANY COUNTRIES. This annoys me about Epcot's "Outpost", as well as in everyday life...like I bought "kids of the world" window clings for my DD, and sure enough, in addition to the kids for 11 other COUNTRIES, there's a kid for AFRICA...:headache:

(And I'm not African, nor am I african-american...it just makes me crazy! ;) )

I have a thing with "countries" vs. "nations." A country and a nation are not the same thing. Every nation is a country, but not every country is a nation.

:teacher:

I agree...there's a difference between a country and a nation, however, I don't think it's totally correct to say that every nation is a country...for example, the Palestinians - a Nation, but not a country. Right? (It's been years since my human geography class so I may have to go look it up...lol!) Or Canada, which has 2 nations, but is one country...right?

That is so funny...as I was reading this I was remembering how we lived in STL and I taught 8th grade Sunday School. We we talking about countries one day and one of the kids said "Colorado". Another said something about driving to Hawaii!

Were you in west county or is the madness everywhere?

Great ideas... I've had this discussion with my wife a few times.

As far as ones that have been mentioned, my faves are:
Greece
Russia
India
Australia
Brazil

Romania would be cool in theory, but I don't think the "authentic" Romania would be as fun as the Dracula/Transylvania stuff everyone would expect.

I would add:
Spain (was planned and abandoned and who wouldn't love a tapas restaurant)
Thailand (canals, cool architecture, great food)
Cambodia/Kampuchea (an Angkor Wat replica would rock, but the country's tragic history would be hard to "Disneyfy")
Hungary or Czech Republic (former Soviet bloc countries need more love and Budapest and Prague are gorgeous... also, I'm part Czech)

I don't think there even are seven other countries.

That reminds me of the time when I was riding It's A Small World, and the woman behind me in the boat was (very admirably) trying to point out to her daughter all the different countries. "There's Iran.... and there's Holland.... and there's Iran... and more Iran.... and Holland.... and Iran... and Holland...". :lmao:
