50's Prime Time -What was your experience

We have eaten there many times and I agree with the others about the pot roast. It is the best! Usually, the best. Last time we were there it wasnt good at all. Go figure. That wont keep us from going back.

We have been here several times. The last time we went, we vowed not to go back. Shortly after we ordered, a child had a LARGE potty accident on the floor near our table. The servers walked around it, made fun of it (Look what cousin Joe did) did everything but clean it up or draw attention away from it. The smell was pretty bad, and needless to say, we were ready to leave but had already ordered and our appetizer had arrived, so we felt trapped. People began to complain loudly, and at last they took a broom, not very effective, and tried to sweep it up. This actually made it worse. It was cleaned up right before we left, without even ordering dessert, which is pretty unheard of in my family. Finally someone came with gloves, a towel and a mop and cleaned up the mess, but our dinner was ruined and there was no offer to compensate for it. We had always enjoyed this place before, but the attitude of the staff during this incident will keep us from returning.

My mother's favorite restaurant on WDW property. She loves the fried chicken and the atmosphere. We have been there more than a few times and food has always been good to very good. I personally like the fried chicken and the PB&J milkshake very much and look forward to it each trip.

We've eaten there 4 or 5 times, and it's always been fun with good food!:goodvibes
On our last trip on 2/5, it was our first meal at WDW, and the waitress was fun, but not nuts. I'm always happy to interact with CMs in character, and I think that is an integral part of the theming of the PT50s. I can only imagine what people would think if they didn't know that the characters the CMs play are part of the "show!"

I think if I had a CM who wasn't playing, I'd ask for a change of station to a friendlier "relative!" :rotfl:

We ate their in November. I actually really enjoyed this meal. The food was delicious and it was a lot of fun. When we first sat down, the waitress came up to the table and threw the straws across the table and told us we had to set the table - which we did. IF you cleaned your plate you became a member of the clean plate club and got a sticker. I did not clean my plate, because it was a lot of food. So, i didn't get a sticker. But my daughters did. Also, the waitress, called one of my daughters up in the front of the room to tell her a joke. She was a little embarrassed to be in front of so many people but the waitress was very polite to her. One of the people at the table beside us had to stand in the corner for putting her elbows on the table. As long as you know what to expect, it is all in good fun. I am a serious person and i was not offended in any way and really enjoyed the antics, the food, and the house.

I can't wait to read and share all of these experiences with my family. We are going for the first time this summer. This is the dinner DD wants to do for her graduation celebration. Should I tell them we are celebrating her graduation?

We have eaten there 3 or 4 times. EVERY time I have specifically asked for a really fun server. Every time we have gotten a nice server, a polite server, a friendly server, but not a really FUN server.

The menu just doesn't do anything for me now (they used to have a nice pasta dish) so we haven't been the past couple of trips. I think the last time we went was for lunch 2 years ago. I wasn't even thinking that the lunch menu would be different than dinner - I had a hard time finding anything that sounded good.

Me and DH went May 09 and saw nothing close to what we have read about on the boards and reviews. The food was awful and very overpriced in our opinion. Our server was as boring as the meatloaf. We are dessert eaters but did not want to waste another dime in the place. Left and went and got ice cream elsewhere.

The food is good, but the overall experience COMPLETELY depends on the service. My kids were very excited about eating here and ready for some antics. Our server however was a complete DUD - friendly, but no different the a million waiters in other restaurants. We saw great fun being had by others - green beans covered in whipped cream and sprinkles, cell phones taken away, etc. which it made all the worse that we weren't getting any of this. We had a much better experience at Whispering Canyon Cafe.

I have been there multiple times and found their food to be very good. As for some of the crazy things which happens there in December 2008 I was there for dinner with 3 of my friends from Orlando and one of them didn't finish their vegetables, so our server started feeding them to him making an airplane sound and we all started laughing when that happened.

Definitely tell them! The worst that happens is that the restaurant ignores your celebration. The staff will likely do something special for your daughter!

I like 50's Prime Time Cafe. It's fun, and the food is acceptable.

I posted this on another board but thought it was worth placing on both. We were at 50's and my Dad was required to sing "Im A Little Tea Pot." Funny thing is my dad is very shy and uptight about public interactions. We really like the place and the food is good. My favorite part of the food is the desert. Many good choices.

If you would like to try the food without the fun Tune In Lounge next door has the same menu.

I went once with two of my aunts, and my then 5year old cousin.

while at 50s PT, one of my aunts knocked over her water, making a mess all over the place. They politely cleaned it up, but then gave her a Little Mermaid bib to wear. LOL It was hysterical!! her 5year old thought that it was funny too!!

I think that it all depends on the mood that you are in. We love having a little playful banter/interaction with the CMs at every restaurant, concession stand, or purchasing merchandise, even while standing in line for a ride.

We ate there on May 1st and thought it was great. Our server was pretty low key, but the other two near us were the exact opposite. They were loud and calling people out for using their cell phones at the table etc. One table had to sing and two women had to stand in the corner, but everyone was having a great time and playing along. That is what this place is all about or at least that is the impression I have always had. Also, we all got something different and all loved our food. I definately agree about the fried chicken, yum!! Milkshakes :thumbsup2 You're on vacation, relax and go with the flow :).

I've noticed they've toned it down too-I'll bet because some stick-in-the-mud complained. I hate that they feel they have to do that...if you don't like the interaction, don't eat there. Let everyone else have fun..:confused3

I like this place, have always had good food there, the decor/theming is cute and the servers are nice.

I've been once with DW, and had a great time. Our waitress wasn't too over the top. Kept talking about her family which confused us at first, but we soon caught on. The only embarassing moment was when she took my empty plate around the restaurant shouting out, "look at the tongue marks on his plate, he's licked it clean!!". Was both embarassing and really funny, so not too painful!!

We went there over Winter Break and enjoyed our meal. Our waiter was fun and my 11 year old DS was a bit nervous at first that he was going to be embarrassed, but he quickly joined in the fun. By the end of the meal, he was sent to the corner for one reason or another... it was pretty hysterical...
