Well, I STARTED to catch up on 2 days worth of posts last night, but gave up.

It was a crazy weekend for me... first weekend of Bike Week. Friday night was a museum benefit (they do a custom motorcycle exhibit), and setup for Saturday's 1-day Bike Rally in the historic downtown area where I work ...

Saturday, 5AM came WAY too early... on the street closing down streets, setting up the event... it was GREAT - at least 26,000 people by first crowd estimates from the PD, no problems, good weather, lots of fun, but a long day that finished off a long year of planning.

Sunday, Ray ACTUALLY had a day off... so we set out to do a Poker Run on the bike... til the battery died, and we wasted several hours of 'playtime' waiting for the new battery to charge, and fixing the stupid bike... ended up having a great day. Went down to 'Main Street' (the heart of Bike Week) to people-watch for a few hours before going home to collapse.

Congrats to all our talented kids this weekend!!! Sounds like everyone made us proud!!!!!

Wow, the Oscars had a surprise ending! It was Brokeback, George Clooney, Brokeback, Reese Witherspoon, Brokeback, Phillip Hoffman, Brokeback, Brokeback, Brokeback...Best Picture: CRASH!!! I think the people involved in Crash were more surprised than anybody!

I like surprise endings, that was fun. I was just sorry that Joaquin Phoenix didn't win, I thought he was phenomenal in Walk the Line. Did anyone else see that movie?

I was surprised too! And I havent seen any of the nominated movies...we pretty much are still in the only Disney movie phase :sunny: But all the lead up seemed to point to Brokeback. The other big surprise for me was the Rap band song about its hard to be a pimp or something like that, I was really surprised it won. They seemed to be too.

Good middle of the morning everyone! Yes, it will be sunny and low 80s here today :sunny: So I may have to take the laptop outside this afternoon

Time to do a wee bit of work now. I hope everyone has a great day.

I had a nice long post typed up, and then my internet connection went away. I hate that.

Irene, I hope your week improves.

Good Morning,

Sue is working with me today at the emergency food pantry I run. She is in the pantry right now making up food bags for a family size of 2. Gosh, it is fun being able to be on the dis board while she works. I do believe this is the first break I have had in weeks. She keeps telling me how many more days till the May cruise. We both are excited that our nephew, Nick, will be joining us. Poor fellow - cruising with two of his doting aunties. I don't believe I have ever been to the family pool on the ship.

Liz

Sue is going to show me how to use the smilies.... here goes...

(she is now taking a break. I hope I can get her back to working.)

:rotfl2:

Liz (again)

CodyJ is with a client so I am jumping on. Using wireless and gee it is fast! I can see everyone's pix and signature. OOPS, she caught me.

Thanks for all the PD and prayers. I have dreaded the day when I have to sit down and discuss moving with your Mother --- (the opposite side of the conversation you'all posted about with daughters (mermaid movie)....anyway, I had hoped we would never need to have this discussion and she could stay in her home forever....it is looking like that might not be possible...and there is no real interening medical reason, like a fall, that might push the issue forward. That is what is so sad, in a way.....depressing too.....I won't post what lead up to this, sufficie it to say, we discovered it this weekend. If I cannot sleep, I can't imagine what she is going through......

Just downloading an article about talking to aging parents about a life style move!!!!

I know what you mean. My mother and father are kind of fading away. Our sister is doing most of the work, but it's just depressing to see your folks losing it. :confused3

Good luck with the ensuing difficulties!

Did you get to see the Naked Cowboy?

It is really tough when our parents get up in years cause that means we are also getting up in years. Hang in there.

Liz :tink:

Hi Liz! Great to see you posting! We all love your mom ( and sis ) to pieces, so I know we'll love meeting you, too.

I tried to get the page closer to the top last night, but the Boards were down, sorry.

There was one guy who just died recently who was younger than us. For the life of me, I can't remember his name. Someone's brother. Like that helps.

Irene....tons and tons of pixie dust. :wizard: Been there, done that. It was so much easier after Jay's dad was hospitalized, it took the responsibility of moving him out of our hands.
I mentioned to Jay after my visit with my parents, that I think it might be a good idea for my Dad to start taking that new medicine to slow Alzheimer's...he has started to repeat the same stories....but I have no idea how to approach the subject. Both of my parents will be offended by it.
And it's really hard for me, because even at ages 75 and 72, they seem so young still.

Just now finishing up the taxes, so I can take them to the accountant today. I realized I had thrown away something important...and after looking everywhere for it, I now have to put gloves on and dig through the trash compactor. :crazy2:

And even an unexpected T.O.P. doesn't make me too excited to do that.

Stacey - yikes! Hope you find it! I'm happy to say we have been done with taxes for about a month now. We have a CPA who likes to get all the info in as early as possible (and so do I). Good luck!

Wow...the Boards are really slow today. And we are not Blabbering. Everyone must be working.

I found it. I had to dig down about halfway....which was back to Thursday's garbage. Luckily, it was in an envelope, so it wasn't all yucky. But I made a copy of the one to send to the accountant. It smelled. The little dog was pretty intrigued by what I was doing. I think he thought he was going to get a treat out of there. Ick!!

And we always have to pay (big time) so we like to wait until the last possible moment, to keep our money in our own account as long as possible.
I figured out at one point that we take care of four welfare families. Don't start me on how I feel about that.

Edited to add: I am, however, VERY grateful to live in the United States. It's still the best country in the world!

Well-- I received my refund from the IRS on Friday (YEAHH), now I have to get it into a savings account before I spend it.
