Not that I disagree and we want to do Alsaka in 2007 which would be HAL -- but, with the gas increase are the 2007 prices on RCCL that much lower???

Most of the other cruise lines, don't release that far ahead - it's too early to comparison shop, yet. We will probably jump to RCCL for a next family cruise. John and I enjoyed RCCL when we've gone as a couple. By the time we're ready for another cruise, the kids will be firmly into that older grade school, middle school range where a Disney Cruise would still be fun, but they would enjoy the activities of RCCL...

We may not even have to go the mega-ship route. They've been retro-fitting some of their older ships with climbing walls and some of the more popular additions of the mega-ships.

Just cancelled the Food and Wine trip this weekend - Disney did not hold us to the 5 day notification for the rooms because of the storm. Orlando is beginning to get worried now. I had a great cast member - must thank him on the website.

:wave2:

As it currently stands we will be at WDW on Friday and Saturday. I am more concerned about Friday since that for the golf tournament. Currently the weather is showing fine for Friday. Saturday we will be inside so should not be a problem, unless they cancel TKW tournament.

Jim, there may not be much left of Cozumel when you get there next month.

Or Grand Cayman. :confused3

Guess I will just have to stay on the ship and eat all day. :cool1:

Monica,

We were on Empress of the Seas 5 night Western Caribbean last month. That it RCCL's smallest ship. They had a rock climbing wall; great entertainment; a casino; wonderful dining. The kids clubs were great. Tori, who is 12, got to "hang out" with a great group of kids about her age and they had wonderful activities planned. Gave us a good feeling for RCCL - someday I'd like to try one of their larger ships :goodvibes

Mary, thank you for all the cruisers info! I appreciate that. :sunny:

Good point. Although there will be a fine line for DCL to maintain....because which is better? To sail a ship 95% full at cheaper prices or to sail one 75% full at the higher prices? I'm sure they'll be analyzing the profit ratios carefully.

Hi, Mary & All!

We are still planning to sail with the Double Scoop group. It will be myself and DS Andy - it is his graduation gift. I try to check the board from time to time - just haven't really had anything to post recently, but I'm sure that will change as our sail date moves closer.

We just returned from the 10/2 Wonder sailing, and had a WONDERful time! Both of us are excited about our Double Scoop cruise. In fact, I have noticed Andy occasionally checking the board himself!

Looking forward to meeting everyone in May!

Susie

Where did they have room to put the wall? :rotfl2: John and I went on the Empress when it was still the Nordic Empress as our first RCCL cruise a 5 day out of San Juan. It was a wonderful 1st time experience. We loved the small ship feel - even the rocking and rolling...We've also sailed on the Splendour out of Galveston on the Panama Canal cruise.

Just did my own little price comparison for 3/11/07 and 3/24/07 (Which would probably be around our spring break) Disney Western using the ages of my kids 9 & 12 at that date - using the "just get me on the boat" categories 11: which we traditionally book

Cat 11 - 5,049.92

Mariner of the Seas - 3/18/07 Western - similar itinerary - Private Island, Ocho Rios, Grand Caymen and Cozumel also out of P.C.

bottom "just get me on the boat category - $3,336

flip to 3/24/07 - the price difference is greater (again, base category):

Mariner - $3336
Disney - $5635.92

While I didn't think $5600 was awful for spring break periods on Disney - the huge price difference between the two lines will have me researching carefully whenever we book our next cruise - which will probably be 2007 or 2008, especially as the kids get older, and the Disney experience might not be as important as it is now.

I think as long as we have friends to cruise with, and are visiting some good diving spots, my family will be happy on almost any cruise. DCL will always be a treat, though, and I doubt I could ever get them back on a Celebrity cruise.

Monica, I think RCCL took some of their smaller ships and stretched them, adding things like climbing walls etc.

Well, I was going to mention the location in my original post, but thought better of it!! They put the wall on the *very* back of the ship, top deck (Tori and I are debating the deck # (I say 10, she says 11 :confused3 ). It's right outside Boleros Lounge. It seemed like an odd location (like - no room for error!!), but the location really worked!!

How was the Panama Canal cruise? How many days was that one? On Splendour, what did you think of the stateroom size? (just curious how it compares to the Magic and Empress! :)

I got an early Christmas present today from my Aunt Stacey! I think she sent it early because she knows we are going to Disneyland!

Oh Look! A Mickey Bear!!!!

Hey Double Scoop Group!!!

I'm home ... still on serious pain killers but I'm finally home! I won't go back & read through all of the posts ... my head is too foggy!!!

Thanks for all of the well wishes while in the hospital! You made me feel very special and touched my heart! How could people I've never met before make me feel so loved???

I finally had to come clean about DIS'ing to DH after all of this. Glad he knows now though. Amanda, thanks for calling to check on me. Bruce came to the hospital and said some girl named Amanada (diznepricess) called to check on you ... who is that?

Then the Dr. Mickey came in the mail ... thanks so much from all of you ... looks like KikiKaren cooridinated that one. Although I didn't get him until I came home today. Ashley slept with him each night & wouldn't give him up. Irene, thanks for the card from everyone & the Tinkerbell pin. This all surely did cheer me up. And thanks to whomever in FL that sent the girls Halloween cards & stickers... couldn't figure out from the postmark who it would be.

Irene, Fran, and all else in FL, stay safe. I've been keeping an eye in Wilma.

Please continue to pray for my recovery. It was definitely a long survery. The dr. said that he could have straightened my 100% but I would have been left w/ one leg shorter than the other. He put a 15% curve back in and I look so much straighter than I was.

I'm sure my posted will be limited in the next few days/weeks. Just wanted to let you know that I'm home.
