Clapboards, board used for the exterior finish of a wood-framed building and attached horizontally to the wood studs. The word, in its original and strict use, refers to a product of New England; boards of similar type made elsewhere are termed siding. Clapboards are particularly characteristic of the United States, having been steadily used since the earliest years of the colonial settlements. Each clapboard overlaps the one below it, leaving a few inches exposed to the weather. White pine is considered the best wood for clapboards; cedar, cypress, and spruce are also used.CajunGirl2 said:So, what is clapboard? Someone please enlighten me.

Jeez, Sue! Can't a guy make a joke?dobelover said:I would like you to believe 2 pieces of wood you bang together, hopefully with a certain man's head between!!!!!!!!!
Actually I am getting new siding on my home and clapboard is a style of vinyl. Since Kevin is our resident Handsome HandyMan his opinions and suggestions are always appreciated and considered.

Well, I could come LOOK at it.dobelover said:If I go with alcoa - sand, monogram - harbor blue, or a light grey. I am still getting estimates so I haven't made any decisions. Checking the contractors with the BBB. I have had T111 stained red for 23 years so any change will be BIG for me.
(I was hoping you would do the job while you're in town).
