You know it is a good Father's Day when you daughter gives you a walkie talkie so you can order anything you want from the hammock, pool, etc....:wizard:

Greetings all! We've come back to the room to escape the heat of the day. We did Mass this morning at Mary Queen of the Universe Shrine and then stopped at Publix and did our grocery shopping for the week. Bell service was great again. Pulled up and told the valet we would need bell service to get our groceries up (lots of bottle water, milk, pop). No problem. Gave us the claim ticket for that and one for the car and we took one bag. I don't think we were in the room 5 minutes when the groceries arrived at our door. A quick breakfast, a spray of sun screen and we headed off to Epcot. Our goal today was to do Soarin which we did. Got the front row! Love it, love it, love it! Of course we loved it at California Adventure so we knew we would. :)

The answer a few questions:

Church services on the Magic. When we were on the 10 day there was a Catholic Priest on board who said Mass every morning. This is not the norm though I do think they try and have one on for both Christmas and Easter. All other cruises they have an non-demonational service. We've never done it as it usually conflicts with the DVC Members gathering.

The dessert party last night. We didn't set it up. Webmaster Penny from the DIS posted a number of months ago about setting up something called Project X. My take on it was that she was going to be here (she lives in the UK) and wanted to see if other DIS'ers wanted to get together for a few things (dessert party, backstage tours, etc.) It just so happened that the dates matched when we were going to be here. We signed up for the dessert party and the backstage tour. Sadly of all the things she had planned she only got $$$ commitments for the dessert party. It was $30 a piece and the party lasted from 8:30 - 9:30. It included different cookies, fruit tarts, chocolate eclairs, canolli, popcorn, lemonade, coffee, tea, hot chocolate, and ice water. As a special surprise she had a tray of a special dessert of white chocolate slippers filled with chocolate mousse and fresh rasberries. It was held at lower french isle so we got a front row view for Illuminations. I would say there were about 70-80 people, Disers and their families, there.

JIm has tired of reading by the pool, sleeping in the hammock, and has now moved inside for a nap in air conditioning. I hope he is having a good Fathers Day.

Oh, I'm so jealous that you work in a library! Tossing around working part time..My goal is to get my Information Tech masters when I grow up (AKA Library Science...) I found my dream job yesterday while touring the Library of Congress - I want to be the person who sorts and reads through 20,000+ new copywritten materials received daily to determine what the L.O.C. keeps in its collection... To read and get paid for it...oh yeah! :rotfl2:

John just shakes his head in disbelief - my latest project is to read through the library - at least one book from every author. I'm in general fiction - ALV -
I wish I had a masters in Library Science. I'd be making more than minimum wage! I was in Information Technology in my previous life (the computer kind) for 15 years before getting laid off in '03. It was quite a pay cut. But yesterday, in celebration with the town's sesquicentennial celebration, the library hosted author Richard Peck. He grew up in Decatur and wrote 2 books based on spending time with his grandmother in Cerro Gordo. As he said yesterday, he doesn't mention Cerro Gordo by name in the books because no one in New York would believe that a Central Illinois town had a Spanish name. Very nice gentleman. He autographed books for 2 1/2 hours with his sister and 99 year-old mother by his side. I got to be first in line since I was working at crowd control.

Mary - thanks for the update. MQU Shrine is our Sunday stop as well.

DVC is on Sunday morning - oh - no. This will be our first DVC trip....

Keep having a good time at WDW. We'll going to try for a hotel trip soon. So called "hotel trips" 'cause we are blacked out and we stay somewhere other than POP or All-stars and enjoy the hotel......pool, resturants, bars...uum, something frozen by the pool sounds good about now. Good thing I had my dip early, those nasty storm clouds are on their way.

Afternoons in :sunny: South Florida!

As long as I'm here - I'll post my milestone 500 profound thought:

"I have seen war. I have seen war on land and sea. I have seen blood
running from the wounded... I have seen the dead in the mud. I have seen cities destroyed...I have seen children starving. I have seen the agony of
mothers and wives. I hate war."

This was in the FDR memorial and it stuck with me and the kids...

You must be raising good kids!

Kevin and I stopped by the store on our FLL trip. We spent only $10 and that to get the reel for our dive flag. It was a minor miracle that our credit cards were not smoking. DWs do not know how close we came.....but than again, we had not room for any more dive gear!

Not to worry - DH and I will make up for you guys....But then we get Disney points with the ccs.

Thanks! I sure hope so! although, I think all of the visual reminders in D.C. the grave markers in Arlington Cemetary, even the security checks in all the buildings, and the Memorials helped them understand the quote more - at least the quote is what they kept referencing back to...

oh how cool! I read A Long Way from Chicago last year and loved it - I try to keep up at least with the Newberry Awards in Children's Lit.

Crowd control in Central Illinois???? didn't know there was such a thing... ;)

Monica did yu ever get my email about Scoopie? I want to take him aboard the WOnder from Sept 18th thru whateve that THrus day is. Let me know

Im kinda ticked with DH this AM. Yesterday was his bday and today is Fathers Day. Our yard is in horrible shape, because we have been so busy...he had 54 hours of OT last week......just to give you an idea and that leaves me here after work with all 4 kids alone.....needless to say many things suffer around here. Of them, DH feels the most guilty about the outdoors. I thought it would be a great gift, to get lawn maintenance folks out here once a week for $27 (not bad I thought) to keeo the yard clean. Any other guy would be thrilled, right??? Not my DH........he seemed disappointed...and I took the kids out this morning so he could have some peace and quiet and guess what??? He did the lawn!!?? I have these people scheduled to come out 2mrrw..............

Yep, I did - Sorry - Scoopie should be all yours (save postal delays) He's going on the Sept 4 cruise with Bear, Mary and Mark...almost a back to back!!!

I dont know why it is bothering me soo much :confused3

:grouphug: I think John believes it's a subtle form of nagging as well as the guilt factor - especially since he's in school as well as working full time - and I"m trying to pick up the slack on the "manly" things he would ordinarily do...

We felt the same way when we entered Punchbowl Cemetary.

What a lucky cone - think anyone would notice - if I stood in for him - ok so I'm a wee bit taller and don't travel by UPS :teeth:

Well,,,, if he is anything like me - ripping out weeds gives one the ability to assign persona to the weeds and then rip - gathca...

Actually, I think it was a sweet gift....maybe just not at the right time?
Overtime is a real bummer - it eats away at everything....

Hang in there :bride:

Well, DH and I are off soon to raise a glass to our Dads. :drinking1

We never knew that they actually knew each other before we met (Comes from being in the same town, I guess)....We lost them both when they were 70, several years apart however, not fair really, so today we will have a Vodka Martini for DH's Dad and a Beer for my Daddy!

We do this on the cruise as well, baretenders think we are nuts!

We know better! :lovestruc

Gotta start using the preview frame - bartenders - bartenders!!!

Monica - only you an I are on right now - how do I delete this prior typo?
