oh no....

when I said "last chapter I read" I didn't mean the last chapter in the book....just the last one I had read before putting it down. (the chapter where Gus is hit by a truck)

I had a feeling that it was not going to end on a happy note in the long run.

I didnt mean that the ending was sad...just a sad story....It has been a few years since I read it, but I do recall that it was a very good book.

Monica, could have been the paprika. Our DD loves sushi, calamari, all kinds of weird stuff, but not anything with a hot spice. We're trying to corrupt her though, I occasionally try to sneak some red or green chile into her food.

.

yum....green chile...I just had a green chile burger.......wont it be green chile season when I am there in July/August? I am thinking about getting my own bushel ( I think?) roasted and packed to bring back home with me...do you know about how much this costs?

yeah, that's it she takes after her maternal grandmother who thinks black pepper and salt are spicy...

Gunka, ALL the Nicholas Sparks books have a sad ending, didn't you know?

James Patterson wrote Suzanne's Diary for Nicholas - Nicholas Sparks also writes great novels that tug on your heart strings...Smokejumper was one of my favorites of his...

I have this anal retentive habit of reading an entire author's published work before moving onto another - then it's easier to keep track of new releases when I find an author I like. Now, current goal of working through the library alphabetically - in addition to checking for new releases from previous authors - I'm a librarian wanna-be...

I bought some fresh wild tuna to sear and put on some greens tonight, thought we would try and approximate the Bahama Breeze Ahi salad that Kevin loves. I called and asked him to pick up a few things so we could make the salad. He stopped at Whole Foods Market, and just dropped off one bag that cost $50. That place is kind of like Home Depot for foodies, I guess.

Forget our dinner - that sounds great!!! - My parents have a Whole Foods Market near their home - we go nuts in there - my dad really likes their wines. Suprisingly, I liked their snacks!!!

Monica I love James Patterson and well as Robert B Parker, Peter Kellerman, Janet Evanovich, Anne Rice, and my friends gave me a new series by last name Viets?? Pretty good so far...oops edited to add Patricia Cornwell I cant believe i almost forgot about the good ole Kay Scarpetta! I love series books, if you cant tell! LOL

We do the same thing and than ask ourselves, "Why not just go out?. It will be less than $50 and I don't have to clean up."

Thank you, Monica, for editing the Scoopie page. Sarah has the camera and she started her new job on Monday, I will bug her for pics this weekend.

We discussed your Alaskan trip at dinner tonight. As you know we are starting to plan our 2007 cruise so we (everyone on this thread since we are all going to Alaska together) want to know the goods and the bad of the ship. Would you do RC again? What other lines should we consider?

That is funny. It goes along with the Dave Berry approach to Disney. He says they should have barrels at the gate and you just put all your money in it because they are going to get it one way or another.

Also during peak time it is better to just go up to the fence and throw all your money over and go home. It is less painful then standing in line all day long for the only ride your kid wants to do.

Haven't read Robert B Parker, or Peter Kellerman - going to the library tomorrow - will have to check them out!!! Love Patricia Cornwell - did you know she has 2 Kay Scarpetta cookbooks out with many of the dishes Kay is cooking in the books?...Another one of my favorites is Anne Perry...

I am in! In fact I already booked RCI for Alaska 8/06. I have been on 3 different RCI ships. Magic is my favorite for food and service, and she is the most beautiful on the outside. RCI has a very good return guest policy: over the onboard booking discount, you get $$$ off for being a Crown and Anchor Member(more cruises, more off). A very nice meet and greet cocktail party ( more cruises, a meet and greet brunch). The Junior Suite(only sleep 3) is larger and a little less than the cat4(sleep 5) on Magic. When I was comparing HAL, RCI and Princess the $$$ were about the same. I stayed w/ RCI since I have been pleased with the line. Of course if DCL had other ships......

Wonder what I could put in it?
I think those things hold only 12oz cans. The Banfi bottles would be a tad to big!! :teeth:

Both my older sons live in the Houston area and one year I sent them a bushel, roasted, peeled and frozen. To get there fast, so it didn't thaw out cost $80. Heck the chili only cost $20.

The next year I sent them the green chili's fresh and they had to roast, peel and deal with it. Only $16 shipping then.

Glad to hear that you are in. We will enjoy traveling again with your family. Hopefully your sister will come. She is funny!

That's the info we needed. It really is down to those three lines, unless DCL starts running in Alaska. I guess it is going to come down to schedule and pricing because all the ships have their goods and bads. They are all just different.

The only ship I know we are really stuck with is the Nautilus Explorer. That is for the pre-dive cruise in Alaska.

The departures are either from Seattle or Vancouver, since you will be in the area. The itinerary is a little different depending on your departure city and the size of the ship. I have good friend who is on the Diamond Princess in July '05. She has been on DCL and RCI. I will let you know her opinion.

Nan aka Elizabeth aka CodyJ is going on the 1/28/06, 5/27/06 and the 12/16/06. Not sure if her hubby will even notice if she is on a cruise in '07.

Jim - are you driving around the Boardwalk area? It is pouring rain. :umbrella:

Our plans for the evening were to chill in the room after a nice dinner at Flying Fish which works out well.

Spent the morning at the Magic Kingdom. The castle looks wonderful! Saw a little bit of Cinerellabration. We're not into castle stage shows so it didn't do much for us, but we saw it. Did It's A Small World. The rehab did wonders - everything looks so fresh and new. The loading are now has the clock like at Disneyland - a nice touch. We also did Mickey's Philharmagic, Pooh, and Pirates. Lunch was at Kona Cafe at the Poly. Visiting both our brick (at Magic Kingdom) and my mom's (at the Poly). Then over to Epcot to finish up the counries we didn't do the other day.

A short rest in the room and then dinner. Now we are just chilling out and waiting for Illuminations at 9pm which we can see nicely (at least the high parts) from our room. Life is good!

Our neighbors just got back from the Radisson. They went from Vancouver to Alaska. One way. They said next time they would rather do a round trip, Vancouver to Vancouver. Can still see the same stuff, but don't have to mess with a bus/train and a one way ticket.

Their main point was to make sure the ship spent as much time as possible in the inner passage and not in the ocean.

Was the Radisson worth the expense??? I'd love to go on a Raddison cruise or Seaborn cruise... I've heard good things....

HAHA but I actually enjoy what I get for the money! LOL

Yes, I knew about the cookbooks, but alas I am not a cook :-( THe Robert B Parker books are the Spenser for Hire books. Do you remember that series?? THey are very easy reads, and I think they were what the TV show was based on. I love the dead pan humor in which Spenser delivers his lines! They are quick reads, as one chapter is usually a page or maybe 2!
Peter Kellerman's man character is Alex Delaware and he is kinda like the Alex Cross character in Patterson's books..the psychologist/police helper dude! LOL
