A question for Jim or Sharon. This comes from someone I'm sailing with this September on the Member Crusie?

Looks like it is you and me tonight, Mary. Can I ask you a question?
Do you happen to know of a place in Key West that just MIGHT rent jet skis to a teen ager with an accompanying adult parent signing a release? I would like to take Billy and get him a jet ski, but his size is so large that he in essence is an adult. With me along, I am comfortable that he would use good sense and follow the rules. I just don't think that there is a place that will rent to him and me unless he rides with a parent, either me or Angela.
Bill

I know you guys did the jet skis in Key West. Did you all have your own or did Matt have to ride with one of you? I told him I would ask. Thanks!

Mary - I'm not Jim - or Sharon... but here's some info when I looked at this previously. It's from the skikeywest.com website.

"Travelers must be 22 years of age to operate wave runner alone. Travelers age 16 to 21 may drive alone if they present a current Boaters Safety Course completion card. This course can be taken online before your trip to Key West at the link located on our left toolbar. When visiting Key West: Wave Runners are the most popular water sport activity on the island. Our safety record is second to none & you'll enjoy the professionalism of the Ski Key West staff. Cruise ship customers, We'll be sure you get back to your ship!"

Most of the places I checked into required the Boaters Safety Course unless you were 21. We of course decided to just ski on CC when we got there..... and you know what happened with our plans that day.....

Virgil gave the answer that is on the web sites, but that is not what happened in our case.

We toured with Island Watersports which is at the Hilton on the same pier as the Magic docks. Just walk off the ship and there it is. I had rented one jet skis for the three of us because Sharon would not drive and Matt was only 14. We all loaded on the one ski. The guide asked Matt how old he was and if he wanted his own ski. Sharon still did not want to drive so she rode with Matt. Age 14, no drivers license, and no boater safety class, but he drove.

This may be the exception for the rule, but they were really good about it. I also don't know if it made a difference that we were doing a tour with a guide. I think a phone call to the shop would be well worth it.

Harry Potter?

Trus confessions. Another crusie member addicted to reading signing on. I am planning what books will be out in time for the November cruise, based on my mistaken concept that I will have time to lounge around and read on deck (HAH)

HP -- I admit that I have read all the HP books, and have reserved the 6th. It started as a lark on one vacation trip as we were desperate for reading material (we had not found DisBoards - that was HP #1 - which was hysterically funny in parts....they have become a bit darker over time.

My favourite authors are presently Piers Anthony and Terry Prachett with a smattering of Mary Daheim. All light reading....DH prefers history.

Another hectic day - signing off with a question.

'puter will not show me all posts on one page - a fluke?

Have fun everyone....Will sign on tomorrow - tonight we have a wine tasting - billed as over 70 wines, with yummies....A full report to follow.

Jim - This brings back such wonderful (er, Magical) memories. Seeing you guys as you were getting back on the ship, seeing bride Stacey, Dr Hugs and MrsMork, trying to find the port cam....

:flower1: Good morning cruisers! :flower1:

Happy Wednesday!

Thanks to Virgil and Jim for the jet ski information. Virgil - we had reserved the jet skis at CC too so we were in the same boat (no pun intended) as you.

The plan for today is Animal Kingdom in the morning. Then off to the DVC Member Update this afternoon. After that we are headed for dinner in the Magic Kingdom and Wishes! This is our last full park day as Mark starts the trade show tomorrow.

YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

How's she feeling by the way. My last e-mail from her was Sunday and she still didn't seem to feel 100% but thought they were still coming. I told her that her feeling better was the top priority but I hope she can make it! After all it is a 2 cruise pre-meet!

Good morning everyone! I made the french onion soup last night. It was good. I tried drinking some of the chardonnay with my meal but decided that I'm not a white wine drinker, at least not chardonnay. I much rather a red. Truth be told, I much rather a margarita!

A bottle of wine, from the ta, was waiting in our cabin. We don't drink and shared it with our tablemates. I could have brought it home for cooking, but I don't cook;) .

I must admit that I've read more since I've started working at the library, but still don't have a lot of time to read. I think a lot of it has to do with reading all the posts on here. The next James Patterson Alex Cross book is due out in November. I have Harry Potter pre-ordered, but might get to start it early if it gets to the library before the release date. I'm one of those readers that sticks to the same authors. I really need to try something new. We have a lot of Sandra Brown readers, and Jill Churchill's books sound fun. I don't read Nicholas Sparks and won't read Patterson's Diary, either.

I'm glad to know that I'm not the only one that doesn't cook. DH didn't marry me for my culinary ability, and DS had become more particular about what he eats as he's getting older.

I read somewhere that since Princess and HAL have been cruising Alaska longer than the other cruise lines they have better access to the Inside Passage. Anyone else hear this? Also, would you do strictly cruise, or do the 'cruisetour' type package that would take you to Denali?

Check DELL out on-line - they have some great deals running now - I just had to buy a new laptop for work. Good Luck.
Well, it seems like most of the 'great deals' end today. I'm not sure that I want to order my Dell today, so I guess I'll wait awhile. I know that they'll have other deals coming up. Plus that will give me time to look at Macs, too, just in case I can be turned to the dark side by Virgil.;)

What! Four posts in a row? Where is everyone? I feel like I'm hogging the boards, just like Amanda :) .

Although I'm not even in the top 10 and probably wont' ever be in the top 10 :confused3 .

So what is wrong with us that we'd rather be cruising than at WDW. :duck: We did WDW and it was OK. We didn't care for Epcot, except for Illuminations and the parade. AK was all right. We enjoyed MGM; DS really liked MK, and HoopDeeDo was fun, but we're not dying to go back anytime soon. I guess we found out we'd rather sit back and be waited on rather than waiting in lines and trying to see past the people with video cameras that push their way in front of you for shows and parades. I guess the fact that DS doesn't do any rides has a lot to do with it, also.

I'm a librarian wanna-be...
Someone made the comment to me not long ago that she wished she could just sit in the library and read all day like I do. Unfortunately, the only time I get to read in the library is during my lunch hour:mickeybar . Other times there are all these pesky people bothering me wanting to check out books and have me help them find stuff on the shelves.
