We got our room assignments tonight! We wound up in three cat 4 cabins
So we can be added to the list now in rooms 8090, 8092 and 8094. I'm PSYCHED.

I don't know if anyone was giving tours of cat 4 rooms, but if not, let me know and we can open ours.

Now I need to call my mom with the good news

I have stayed in the connecting rooms 8090 and 8092 on the Magic before and loved them!! Probably our favorite rooms so far. Enjoy our old rooms for us!

I am not sure if I'm posting the right way, place, time so be gentle please. Plus I am Out of My Mind excited about this so some of it may be gibberish!!! (You all love Disney so I know you can read gibberish!!)
I am new to Disboards (2nd time around actually) but NOT Disney.
I never do ANYTHING last minute and I was looking to spend a few days of April vaca @ Disney and came across this deal. Somehow I am now headed across the Atlantic for 14days with four children my DH and FIL.
My boys are: David 14, Christian 11, Lucas 4 and Josh 1.
If anyone has older boys with facebook pages my sons were asking how to find friends. I have questions though I can't compile them right now.
I am soo happy to have found all of you and I'm starting to read posts.
I am off to supper now but hope to hear from some you soon!!

Wow, everyone is SO lucky with the upgrades! I am so jealous. Congrats!

it may still happen - I had not been upgraded when I left this evening - but just came back and checked again - and I got an early Birthday gift (my bday is tomorrow) - we went from a 10 to a 5! I am so excited! my kids said to not talk about it anymore I am getting on their nerves so I thought I would share my excitement here!

I hope everyone in our group gets upgraded!

Wow, all this talk about upgrades makes me jealous. We booked the cruise back in Feb of last year, and was assigned deck 2, Cat 9, room 2576, and paid it off before the deadline. Just checked online and nothing was changed. So, why are some upgraded, and others not? Anyone have an answer for that? (or at least some soothing words?)

Dee ... I think it's a great idea (makes sense) for people to check with you to schedule future events. I can't remember specifics for a lot of events, and only kept records of certain events.

Also, I mentioned this once or twice before (little response, if any). On other cruise lines, members of CruiseCritic.com have requested a small gathering (mini-mixer) with ship officers / staff during the cruise (at a time and location convenient to the ship's staff, if available). Some cruise lines have sent a hand-full of officers, sometimes with light refreshments ... some even send the captain! I'm not expecting DCL to spend $ or provide anything ... just a chance to mingle, and talk turkey (er, uh, CRUISE, etc).

Your thoughts: IS GOOD - or IS NO GOOD?

I think it would be fun to do something like that.

I called AAA today since I've heard that they sell Euros. The deal is that you (I) would pay the exchange rate that they are quoting on the day they are ordered, it takes 24 hours to get them, and if I order less than $1000US, there is a $12 shipping fee. For anything $1000 or over, the shipping fee is waived. I'm going to talk to the bank tomorrow, but there's no way I need $1000 in Euros, and I'm wondering if I'm better with US travelers checks (from the safety standpoint) despite the lower exchange rates that will probably be available.

My bank didn't charge any extra fee when I ordered mine on Friday and they came in today so I've got them now. So we can leave now

We're flying out of LAX but they never sent us any information. I called the DCL air travel dept a couple of week ago and they were able to finally email me our itinerary.

Well I'll have to call again I guess. I asked a couple weeks ago when they called to say my flight out of Sacramento had changed but they didn't have the LAX information yet.

Congrats on all the room upgrades everyone!! I checked and I'm still in the same room that I picked out.

We just got upgraded! DH and I booked a Cat. 7 and were upgraded to a Cat. 4 and my DSIL was also upgraded from a Cat. 8 to a Cat. 5. No change on my DMIL & DFIL's GTY 11 as of yet.

Pure chance. I know lots of folks who have never been upgraded in many cruises. Some folks have been upgraded several times. Here's hoping you still get one, because I'd love to get bumped up to your cabin...a large porthole window near the midship elevators!

Now that I logged into the DCL site I see my aunt still hasn't filled out her online check in forms... Of course I filled mine out the very first day we could. I hope she fills them out soon so I can print the stuff out.

hhmm, wonder about that myself , the specific cabin# people getting upgraded? I wouldn't think so because if you picked a specific cabin you obviously wanted it right? But you make a good point. . .Ohhh, frequent cruisers, where are you? what say you?

Last cruise soooo many of the Dismeet group I was with got upgrade 2 and 3 catagorys (like lots of Cat12's to Cat8's!) over what they chose while we paid the bottom price Cat12 and only ended up in Cat11 but it was all good. We loved our location (Deck 7, aft) soooo, booked Cat11 this time hoping to stay there! We all know the GTY gamble, some win big and the rest of us are just happy to be on the ship!

We had specific state rooms picked out and received upgrades. This is our second cruise and our first upgrade.

Before I get too excited - those new room numbers listed on the DCL web page are for real, right? We were in category 10, rooms 2107 and 2109 (connecting rooms). It now says category 10, rooms 7108 and 7110 (connecting rooms). However, those two rooms are category 5, not category 10. I don't want to get myself too excited only to be disappointed if it's a mistake, but I may have to do the happy dance of joy, or risk exploding from excitement.

Is it possible that's right???? That's an AWFUL lot of pixie dust, if it is!! We've never had an upgrade before, so I'm mostly confused by the fact that it's still saying category 10. Maybe if I think happy thoughts, those room numbers will stay put!!

Our rooms also has the category we booked still listed on the site, with the new room number next to it. With so many people having the same experience, it would be very shocking if it were a mistake! Keep Hope!

This whole upgrade thing feels like sorority rush - why did they get bumped to xxx while I didn't?

Just like in "The Godfather" and "You've Got Mail" - It's not personal, it's business. I can't imagine they are doing this without some sort of computer program.

Nice to see that they have (mostly?) kept families together - I'm sure that was factored in.

Each time I check the Castaway Club page - that is where we are checking, right? my heart rate speeds up a little, only to be disappointed.

I keep reminding myself that I paid very little for this cruise and will have the same benefits of everyone in Cat 4-12, and I will be happy with that. That is my mantra for the day. Disney cruise for $50 a day?

To everyone who is happy with their upgrades -

And yes, I would be sad if they bumped someone to a higher category than me if they had been below me.

For those who are a little bummed that they didn't move as far as the next guy: It's okay to feel that way, too. Soon you will be back to the excitement of the cruise, which is less than 47 days of prep!

OK, this MUST stop. I've checked the cabin assignments 3 times today. It isn't there, it isn't going to be there today.

As to upgrades, there is no obvious rhyme or reason. We've been upgraded twice in 23 cruises, both a LONG time ago. We've been able to purchase upgrades on several more. OK, I don't count it an upgrade when a 12 gty turns into an 11 or a 9 gty becomes an 8.

Do I need an upgrade? No. Will I be happy if I get a window--absolutely, especially since it will sort of make up for the joyful single supplement.

Boy, you picked the craziest day to chime in online! Although we are moving 4-5 pages a day, it seems, so don't get behind if you plan on reading all the posts.

You need to post 10 times (total) to be able to use the DISboard private message (PM) system. So join in on the fun - you can make your posts short to get up to 10 rapidly. if you have any info to share but don't want it on the public DISboard, you can then PM it once you've got your 10 posts.

If you would like to participate in a gift exchange, wherein you hang a gift receptacle outside your door (see website, FE page, for example), there's still time to join Group #2. Each family gives a minimum of one gift per cabin to each of the other cabins in the Group - will probably <12 - during the cruise. The gift is often Disney- or port location- related. Think about this.

KileyB.... I read in several places that the HOHOs in Barcelona take euros....where did you read that they don't? I am probabaly going to prepay anyway ....but just in case I am curious.

I am Happy for you all....but the suspense is killing me!
I am still GTY as well.. and I am a little envious (human darnit) that you guys even know your room #s at all... let alone an upgrade!
But I have to say for real... I consider myself very blessed to be able to do this , and as often as I do, at all....ultimately I will be sailing with a smile regardless of where I sleep....so I will count my blessings (and cross my fingers too)
