Start getting excited, cause ours still states the old cat. but shows the new room number...

Before I get too excited - those new room numbers listed on the DCL web page are for real, right? We were in category 10, rooms 2107 and 2109 (connecting rooms). It now says category 10, rooms 7108 and 7110 (connecting rooms). However, those two rooms are category 5, not category 10. I don't want to get myself too excited only to be disappointed if it's a mistake, but I may have to do the happy dance of joy, or risk exploding from excitement.

Is it possible that's right???? That's an AWFUL lot of pixie dust, if it is!! We've never had an upgrade before, so I'm mostly confused by the fact that it's still saying category 10. Maybe if I think happy thoughts, those room numbers will stay put!!

Also, I mentioned this once or twice before (little response, if any). On other cruise lines, members of CruiseCritic.com have requested a small gathering (mini-mixer) with ship officers / staff during the cruise (at a time and location convenient to the ship's staff, if available). Some cruise lines have sent a hand-full of officers, sometimes with light refreshments ... some even send the captain! I'm not expecting DCL to spend $ or provide anything ... just a chance to mingle, and talk turkey (er, uh, CRUISE, etc).

Anything that involves chocolate is good - so is the meet and greet with or without chocolate.

Both times I've sailed gty12 and both times I got an upgrade to a cat9. In both instances, my reservation online still said cat 12. It is confusing, but someone told me it will continue to say your originally booked cat number even though the room assignment is a different cat.

Congrats to all those getting room assignments and upgrades. We have 4 category 12 rooms and so far they all still show GTY. Hopefully the rest of us get assignments soon!

Do you ever wonder where these DCL people who do cabin assignments are sitting and what exactly they are looking at? is it a big dry erase board with deck plans on it, a computer program, some combination of both? Do they ever go, "ooohh, lets put these people here for fun" ???? Are they using dry erase pens?

or maybe somebody really does now how it works! ??? Do tell!

I forget, do we have any CM's sailing with us? Maybe they know.

And I'm not even expecting an upgrade at all I asked NOT to be upgraded if at all possible. I like the higher decks and don't care about a porthole or a split bath! Cat11 GTY here we come!

DH is a CM, but I couldn't tell you anything about how they chose the upgrades/GTY rooms. From what I do know, it's a complicated process!



We got our room assignments tonight! We wound up in three cat 4 cabins
So we can be added to the list now in rooms 8090, 8092 and 8094. I'm PSYCHED.

I don't know if anyone was giving tours of cat 4 rooms, but if not, let me know and we can open ours.

Now I need to call my mom with the good news

Again new to all this but I just checked the disney cruise webiste and my room number has been changed to 8074 from 2110. I was a cat 9 and when I look up the room it looks like it's a cat 4. Could that be right even though on my reservation with my new room number it still says cat 9?

If this is right I'm very excited!

It sounds like a lot of people got nice upgrades today.
And you'll be right down the hall from us (8090).

Christmas Organizing Workshop at Sea

Here is who I have down that have said they are interested in possibly coming (knowing based on other factors may or may not be able to attend once on board)

I am going to go and look at navigators and see what time the music stops in the PL and set it for that time if it is not too late.

I'd be curious to know if anyone who booked a SPECIFIC STATEROOM has (now, or in the past) received an upgrade. I recognize GTY's will put you where it works best for the cruise line ... but it's sometimes awkward to see someone who has booked a category less than your own - only for them to receive an upgrade to one above yours.

We picked a specific stateroom and have now been upgraded. So yes Dreams do come true.
