2017 Release Watch :)

Trust me I thought the same thing. I was ready to call the whole thing off. It'll happen!! What are your dates??

February 22 - March 1. I could have gotten something if I wanted to switch resorts or room categories, but unfortunately I'm set on it.

I understand that. We won't do anything other than the boardwalk. The poly used to be our home but after the Renos it's not the same. Plus Lorenzo at the boardwalk is like family now! Just wait. Don't lose faith. Something will definitely come up!

I'm hoping! I've never had a problem getting the discount I wanted before. Here's hoping this time is no different!

Me, too! I've always gotten the discount - had free dining 4 times in a row, and that's 2 fall tips and 2 Mardi Gras trips. This time I totally lost out! I couldn't get it done online at 5:00am and then I had to go to work. I called at 8:15am and they had nothing for me at Pop (already had 3 rooms booked for our family group) and I would have paid an extra $500 (and that's with he discount) per room to move to all that was left at CB, pirate room.
I was so disappointed in Disney, I almost cancelled the whole thing. Now I will just wait for the general public offer and see if I can get that.

I would think that they would open up more rooms to the general public. I was looking very similar dates a few days before the SPD announcement and there were still options in all room categories, then as soon as the discount was released all the rooms were booked. I find it hard to believe that they won't open up more rooms to the general public.

so are the winter promos not opening to the general public today? I thought they were and just called the cm said Monday.

Does anyone know if the general public deals are usually identical to the Visa Rewards deals?

The room situation is constantly changing. Last year I switched my reservation twice as a better room type/category opened up so it's a good idea to keep checking even once you've booked. Depending on how you book your reservation there is even an option to change online so you can avoid calling and dealing with the terrible Disney automated system, lol.

Oh my god the automated system is the worst. They never ever get my last name. Not once. It's so pointless. Not to mention it picks up every other sound around me!

I've never gotten free dining, but I've always gotten a pretty good percentage off, and usually for an upgraded room. The first year I did it, the view rooms were all cheaper than rack rate for a standard. It was really weird this year. I got on the phone right after they opened and was on hold less than 10 minutes. The preferred rooms were not available at my resort. Now all of the rooms at my resort are unavailable.

That's what I'm planning to do. I'm just checking every day. Hopefully something will open up Monday. I just want it to be done with, so I don't have to think about it.

I asked about Epcot area--BC was pool view only, $450/night-ish, YC (which I booked, supposedly last garden view room, but who knows if that's true) was $315-ish a night, and BWI was $350-ish/night standard view. These are a mix of weekday and weekend nights. Poly with agency exclusive offer is $375-ish a night for our same dates, so much better than the Disney offer.

What agency offer? You got great prices!

ok disney hive mind, here's our situation. two adults, two kids (4, 8). last week of january/first week feb. currently have a room at POR (garden view), six day tickets (no hopper, etc). we like to keep things 'easy' and our plans as 'open' as possible. we have a budget and as long as we are within that budget we are happy. with no discounts we are within our budget at POR. but who doesn't like to save money??!?! although PDS package might be 'best value' we'd then be strapped into sit down meals. sit down = less flex, more time spent eating/less time in parks, plus tips. we are not big eaters. BUT room only discount = crappy discount at POR. should i just wait to see what's available monday before i start stressing?
Can we use a sit down credit at a quick service location? that might change things. I can't find that info on the disney website. Suggestions? Ideas? Thanks!!!

One thing to consider is booking 2 credit meals to use them up faster. Hoop dee doo music revue would be enjoyable for your two

It sounds like your vacation style is the same as ours!
We've booked 2 weeks POR in February (usually do 10 days but 14 was in our budget this time!) so if we can get any sort of deal on Monday that's great but if not we aren't worried - we're still in our budget!
I worry about dining plans ruining our 'go with the flow' style too, if it was a free dining offer then we'd just use what we used and not stress about using every credit, but paying OOP for it I think would be in the back of my mind the entire time!

This is pretty much us. We prefer eating at quick service, because the main focus for us is time spent at the parks, not sitting down for lengthly meals. With the park ticket cost being the single biggest line item in our budget, this only makes sense to us. With that being said, right now the best deal for us is a room at a moderate that sleeps 5 (as far as room rates go) with 2 connecting rooms at a value coming up second. Once you add in the SPD the numbers are almost identical for both options. For example: 2 rooms at AS Music= $3917 vs. 1 room at CBR=$3910. I am really struggling to make a decision. The pros for AS Music would be this: QS meal plan (which works best for our touring style), 4 beds, 2 TV's, 2 bathrooms, compact resort. Pros for CBR: step up from the values as far as resort ammenities are concerned, new resort to us, pool slide. Uggg. Just typing that out shows me that I would be almost crazy to forego 2 rooms in place of a single room for our family of 5. We were totally spoiled on our last trip in 2014. We had a family suite at AS Music booked, but upon arrival, we were upgraded to a Cars Suite at AoA (which was amazing btw. and we would book there again in a heartbeat, but cannot justify the $500 cost difference. I too am curious to hear if you can us TS credits at QS restaurants as well, as this might help sway our decision!
