2016 Disneyland Paris Half Marathon

I had a friend register directly with DLP and was told the same thing. The cast member was misinformed. They called back and were able to get registered just fine.

You're right !!! I called back today and and i get registered also for the 5k. I asked the cast member if they rent kids to run the race and she laugh then told me that yesterday there was a misinterpretation on the terms "family run"... than she registered me.

That doesn't surprise me to be honest. I noticed on our last trip that it does seem to be more about the kids over there. I felt quite out of place being in an all adult party, we got some funny looks when we were lining up for characters, and people had no hesitation turning up 5 minutes before the parade and pushing their kids to the front. A lot of the adults didn't look they were having much fun at all really :rotfl:

Wow, I'm glad DH and I haven't had to deal with the package mess! But how exciting for those of you who got registered! We're still in the process of planning and paying for our trip to DL for the Avengers Marathon in a couple weeks, so theres no way I could make an down payment or full payment right now, or any international calls. We're just going to hold our breath for registration in January, otherwise we'll plan on DLP the week before and skip the race altogether. We'd really like to do this race, but the terms they're requiring make it seem so complicated.

Question for those who may have run in France before ...

Per the Paris Half website:

You must provide a medical certificate when you pick up your race number at the Expo on September 22, 23 or 24, 2016.

AND

if a medical certificate is not provided by June 1, 2016*, you will not be eligible to participate.

From my past Disney encounters, I'd assume there will be a link to submit the medical certificate .... but ??? or should I just put my faith in the travel agency?

When i registered (directly through Disneyland Paris) they told me that in one month i will received an email with a link from the promoter of the event with all the information on how to submit both medical certificate and proof of time.

Typical French. DD has done just about every Disney run there is, I keep telling her she's pulling my walls down with her medals! And never had to provide such ..that I'm aware of anyways.

Medical certificates are standard for runs in France (and several other countries) - I had to provide one when I ran the Paris Semi-marathon (French for 1/2 marathon) - it is a standard form with basic wording that your doctor signs/certifies - they should provide the form via email/website soon.

Will be interesting to see if the Paris to Versailles 16km run happening the same morning (25 Sept 2016) as the Disneyland Paris Half affects local attendance at the Disney event (versus us international attendees). That race has 22000+ runners each year - was hoping it would be the following weekend to get both runs in this trip - the inaugural Castle to Chateau medal won out!

Is there any time frame that the medical certificate has to encompass? (I.e. Same calendar year, etc)?

Typically no but usually requires race name and sometimes race number.

Example for Paris marathon

Just checked a few other races in France and most require medical certificate within a year of the race which would be met if you had to put your race number on it as those get assigned a few months after registration and before race.

Also, some races waive need for medical certificate if you have specific licenses:
  • You are a runner who holds a license issued by the French Athletics Federation (FFA)
  • You are a runner who is a holder of an FSCF, FSGT, or UFOLEP license which mentions “Athletics” on it precisely (your medical authorization is on the license, on a label, etc.)
  • You are a runner who has an FF Triathlon license for competition
    • For thoses cases, you have to present your valid license (2015/2016 season) when you pick up your bib number.

OK, I'm officially in! We booked through Get Travel, and had been on the wait list since last Thursday, so they must have gotten more race inventory from DLP over the weekend.

We ended up booking to stay at Newport Bay Club because all the values are sold out. I kinda wanted to stay there anyways, so it works out. :D

When booking with Disneyland Paris, I was told I'd be receiving an email with instructions for registering for the race itself. Has anyone gotten that email yet?

No email yet but heard same thing - sounds like we will get them in next few weeks. Heard from GET travel last week that we can upgrade/add to our package and need to choose food for Wild West show Saturday night - will probably stick with their standard dinner instead of runner rice dinner...

We were told the same ... no email as of yet.
